If you already run NextCloud, then NextCloud Memories (not photos) is very good.

^this. You probably had a Nextcloud client somewhere with wrong credentials that was trying to reconnect repeatedly which locked you out. It happened once to me.

Memos is actually quite a nice option: https://github.com/usememos/memos

See here for a good comparison of your options: https://github.com/meichthys/foss_photo_libraries

I'd go with Proxmox with a docker VM then you can always run other VMS or lxc containers if needed.

I went through this as well. This resource should help those starting out: https://github.com/meichthys/foss_photo_libraries

Otp manager is a well integrated 2fa code app Many services like opnsense and others have backup features that integrate with nextcloud.

Memories photos is really good.

The two main ones that come to mind that I use are open sense and home assistant which both have add-ons to backup directly to next cloud

Future work on the project is being carried out in a new project called TriliumNext which had the blessing of the original developer. Trilium has a bright future in this fork 👍

Nextcloud maps works reasonably well although mobile view isn't great.

I also useTrilium but I have to say that the mobile experience is pretty poor. You loose the ability to add labels and most of the desktop features are stripped away. If all you need is to simple read and write, then the mobile web app may suffice. There is also a bug where many android keyboards cause typed characters to duplicate (a ckeditor bug)

I'm still sticking with Trilium because the desktop app is super. I'm definitely looking forward to a mobile app at some point (its bound to be developed by someone!)

If if you already run a nextcloud server you should use nextcloud talk. It has web and mobile apps.

You can easily set up trilium notes via docker compose. That comes with excalidraw bundled in 👍

The issue could still be a fail-to-band issue if fail-to-band is looking at the user agent string (I'm not sure fail to ban looks at the user agent string, but it might be worth checking out.). The user agent string would likely be different on a mobile app versus a browser login.

Vault warden Send Pair drop is also neat (an airdrop replacement)

Trilium. Share the nodes in the tree that you want public.

debian\ubuntu vm on proxmox. Then you can snapshot the whole deal and take easy backups of everything using proxmox backup server.

It'd on my list but the self hosting setup is not straightforward (no docker image yet)

^ This. The Android app is quite nice. For iOS readers, you should use netnewswire

Is there a demo instance? I could use that for testing of it exists.

Nextcloud Memories has good video transcoding support.

Probably using Nextcloud Memories. Its very performant.

Nextcloud Memories is very fast. Photos is indeed a nightmare.

Do you mean Memories?

Also not trying to be mean, but energy in the US is generally very cheap ($0.12/kwh where I am). With more regulation of the market, the reliability would probably increase but so would the price! (I see this happen first hand since I work in the industry)

There is a mobile view plugin that makes the mobile pwa much more usable.

Trillium has attributes which are very similar and very versatile.

You're on the right track with nextcloud however using the built-in photos app is going to be very slow. You should install the nextcloud memories app and you will see a very significant improvement in speed.

That's the beauty of next cloud in my opinion. You only need to enable the apps that you need. It would be nice if there was a little bit better discovery when it comes to finding apps. The app store is useful but only internal next cloud apps seem to be promoted there.

This. Nextcloud news is great on the web and mobile. It just works and is ideal if you already run Nextcloud.

Trilium for personal use cases. It is very easy to host, edit, and navigate. Public sharing is easy too.

This. Save yourself some time and just go with Trillium. It does not have a native mobile app yet, but when it does, there'll be nothing to compare! :P
