Thank you to AMD for still requiring neither an account nor collecting data. Crash reports don't count.

The number of IPs hitting their software repos can be a decent way of estimating active users. Also, ISO downloads and so on.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. Linux on the desktop (or laptop!) has gotten so damn good that going back to windows feels like an absolute chore everytime I need to do so for work.

Difference is probably mostly related to the width of the street. Crossing two lanes is fine, four is uncomfortable and six feels impossible. European strees tend to be much narrower than american ones, so people are more inclined to walk.

Wayland on AMD is amazing

Article says the jawbone shares DNA with modern humans and denisovans, of which only a finger had been found previously. Guess early Asians interbred with denisovans like early Europeans and Neanderthals.

it is and has great compatibility with office formats, such as password protected excel spreadsheets.

from experience with my social circle, higher prices don't cause people to quit, they just cause people to save that money elsewhere and reduces their quality of life further, causing them to smoke more.

Bro snap has infos like that as well

The start menu entries are stored in an encrypted file somewhere beneath a thousand different folders. But its possible to copy a cleaned start menu file and paste it in the correct directory in the default user folder to give new users an ad-free start menu.

My 15 years old Linux laptop can still do everything (except gaming new titles)

I am shocked that anything regarding Microsoft and windows contains spyware.

Shout out to logitech, the G502 Hero wireless I'm using doesn't install or start anything on it's own. What a low fucking bar to look at.

eGPUs don't have enough pcie lanes. They'd bottleneck a CPU like this too badly to be worth it.

Lots of things in mass effect 1-3

Also, Roland's death in Borderlands 2 just because the game up until then may have some dark-ish moments, but for the most part is still a nigh-brainless looter shooter. Angel's ark makes you feel like they've hit their important-character-death-quota and then Roland dies as well.

they will show you their own ads through operating system notifications, but without collecting your personal data to do so. the program is also entirely opt-in and is thus disabled by default, so the user has to knowingly and willingly enable it.

which movie?

Bro, most people don't even care about their own privacy and keep using edge/chrome in windows. Some lemmy users care about Eich's beliefs, like you, but most people don't.

Under us occupation afghan women were the freest they've ever been. They trained Afghan soldiers, built infrastructure and educated the populace, but as soon as the west left, the afghans put down their arms and welcomed the Taliban into power.

I'm going to buy a new laptop the second framework offers this CPU.

You could create systemd services to control wine for each app you want to run, that way you can use systemd's sandboxing.

I don't really care if someone fights in both directions if their points are valid. Misgendering or not, mozilla has had some troubling developments internally and it's good people shed light on it.

The amount of hate you spread against those you disagree with might just lead your country to civil war.

Powershell as admin then type set-service wuauserv -startuptype manual; stop-service wuauserv

This will disable the windows update service. If you do want to run updates again (and you should do that regularly), just type start-service wuauserv and use the windows update page in settings.

Linux is still way better though.

That might be the single best explanation I've ever got for anything, so thank you for that.

This law goes both ways. Left or right, extremism comes from every side.

Use nala instead of apt, it's mostly a different frontend that looks way nicer, but also has vast improvements such as simultaneous downloads and a controllable history

Yes I bought a Pixel 7 and installed graphene without the google play services. Only social media I use are Lemmy and YouTube (in a browser)

he means that wine does not play games well if they're loaded off of an ntfs drive. which is true. he could just backup his data, reformat to ext4 and restore his data though.

Framework laptops are, as far as I know, certified for Ubuntu. Meaning that any distro should run just fine, if maybe with some slight modifications, but Ubuntu (and its derivates) will work perfectly.

He means that his laptop has a dedicated GPU from AMD and his CPU with iGPU is also made by AMD

True, Vvardenfell was a really interesting setting because of how alien it is, but skyrim added a lot of interesting lore through books and such. Like the argonian counter-invasion of oblivion after they were physically altered by their hist-trees, forcing the immortal forces of dagon to close their own portals.

Use the default mesa drivers and use corectrl. Depending on the version of mint you're using, you might need to install the appropriate ppas (just google them, you'll find them)

You were right! Idk how I didn't see that!

You mean the feature set in the grub config? Their guide on setting up your system to get all the features is quite easy to do and linked on their git lab page

'enhancing dermal extracellular matrices' what?

It's (rightfully) currently illegal, but that doesn't stop people. Keep it illegal, increase punishment drastically, make AI-created material a grey area.

Can't remember having seen that, but I'll take another look once I get home from work. Thanks for the hint!

you can just move to chromium though, getting chrome performance without google spyware

Use LibreWolf. I've switched to it from Brave because it's counted as firefox market share but it gets rid of all the non-browser features (Pocket, Telemetry, etc.) and enables some interesting flags in the config (ResistFingerprinting for example).
