Little Bobby Tables is all grown up.

Great talk and I completely agree with him. Static typing has a lot of benefits but the old style use cases had a lot of extra overhead. As languages have matured, that overhead has come down a lot and so it's not surprising that they have gained back traction recently.

Historical Legacy is a good way to put it. For Pokemon in particular, RBY was the franchise for a lot of people, myself included. I've played a few of the others, but RBY is what came out when I was a kid and will always be the one I remember.

With inflation causing rents to go through the roof, houses being bought to be rented is just going to increase even more. I've had several houses in my neighborhood sold in the last few months be bought and immediately have "Available for Lease" signs put out.

We need to have something done to de-incentivize the idea of real estate as an investment and treat it like the necessity it is.

If you enjoyed the Martian, I highly recommend his newest book Project Hail Mary.

Thanks for the great reviews! You definitely got me interested in a few I probably would have looked past previously.

I've switched to Thunder recently and am really liking it. Not in the app store yet, but easy to install on Android from GitHub.

Thunder for Lemmy

Your 4th point really hits on the main problem with all lists like this and that is that what is "best" is different for everyone. I agree with you that this puts too much weight on storytelling, but I know for some people story is by far the most important part of any game. For me, I rarely care about the story at all, I just want interesting mechanics.

Looks awesome. Great work and I'm sure your kid will get plenty of fun out of it.

It'll be fixed in the next version of Lemmy. It's a known issue.
