Imo I feel like given the size of the community there is too much segregation. All these android related topics should all just be in /c/android until we reach a critical mass that more organization is required. No one will bother to subscribe to all of those with 0 engagement.... And plz don't delete posts we are so small here! As long as it isn't spam I'm ok with questions etc. here. The rules shouldn't be the same as reddit as the community isn't the same (at least not yet).

My dumbass thought 'local' meant popular in my geo location and 'all' is worldwide when I first joined 😅

Seems like a trash meme article just to say "killed by Google again!" when it's just some test app lmao

Looks great! Wonder is there a way to reduce the size of the sidebar? It takes up a huge amount of the space on web (while still keeping the names visible, the minimized view with icons isn't super helpful)

this explains a lot. on Hot and on Active I see posts with 0 interaction (basically sorting by new). on Top I just see old posts :(

I am using webweb.app which is a PWA Apollo clone. Its a bit weird cause the UI is iOS based, but it's by far the smoothest and full featured all I tried so far!

Scrolling is like butter, I can customize text size, and from comment reply notifications it actually directly opens the thread to the comment, and also highlights the comment which i love! Is liftoff and thunder similarly full featured?

ohhh thanks - it doesnt seem like that setting saves on refresh of the page though :(

Hm, maybe I should do the same (and if it's helpful to spread the load across instances anyway?). I try to comment and never able to (always a network error or some other error on both jerboa and wefwef). Let's see if this comment even posts lol

Tbh because it was cheap when I was younger, and now I don't really see a need to switch to iPhone (and have thus never used one). I like the photography on Pixel and also the UI better than iOS.

The growth is insane, fediverse is coming!

These are great, pls forward this to Ferboa devs! It's open source so maybe you can submit this to merge into the app?

Curious why but another phone (which would be on Android 13 or older) vs downgrading P7Pro back to Android 13?

Awesome news! I have been a Sync user for the past literally 10 years

I like the design but definitely the lights still seem like huge gimmick. I don't see the value of getting this over other midrange options like the pixel 7a

It'd be such sweet justice if third party reddit app developers migrated to Lemmy, and that's what really kills off reddit for good.

That aside I've been using jerboa, but also Lemmy itself is a PWA (in chrome you can "Install" Lemmy as a dedicated web app from three point menu) which works good as well.

just signed up, yesss!!!!

Oops, pesky autocorrect. This also has infinite scrolling which I didn't even realize at first and what made the Lemmy feel so clunky on mobile before - that is definitely the biggest thing that makes this my favorite now.

Did they charge you 3.75 for being an LA woman? 😂😂

I'm a fan - also I think material you allows for good interpretation/flexibility in terms of branding so that not all apps look exactly the same cookie cutter style.

Goodnight my sweet prince

While options like Fairphone exist, the most sustainable phone is to just use your current one longer - with the state of smartphones nowadays they really shouldn't have much of a problem lasting 4-5 years. The next sustainable thing is to buy used for an upgrade :)

Awesome, no more errors on my end! Thanks for the hard work, donated as a small token of thanks for the team here.

I use Chrome password manager. Is there any difference to this vs. Bitwarden or other services? Chrome is super convenient since it suggests passwords in browser while signing up and auto-inputs them to apps/websites cross platform. And also integrates with GBoard to quickly search password to copy into a field.

Not sure if Bitwarden has any additional features other than the benefit of not keeping all my info with Google. Or if it's less convenient and I have to go into the Bitwarden app or something everytime to look up or generate passwords?

+1 been a Sync user for probably over 10 years... It's been an app I've opened near daily since then too, I'll miss it.

Honestly just the fact that the protest gave awareness to viable reddit alternatives is good enough. And the blackout helped in that regard to force users to search for alternatives (like me). Obviously subs will be forced back open, but people have options now with whole communities here that literally did not exist weeks ago.

Good to know, thanks! I wasn't aware passwords on chrome are not encrypted.

I'll have to take a look into cost of 1password and Bitwarden, and see if any of them have password import features from Chrome to make the switch easy

Interesting, I had no idea 3P clients for Spotify was possible. I dig the UI. Will this still give me all my Spotify playlists (incl. Recommended ones from Spotify like daily mix etc)?

is there any advantage of using one instance vs another? I made accounts on both kbin and lemmy.world, is it all the same except whatever UI i prefer?

When i visit some communities in kbin, it tells it the posts might not all be up to date
