I honestly have to say that this isn't remotely part of my dream. I couldn't care less about the friends and families that are using facebook. They can contact me over E-Mail or over my phone. If they want to stay in touch even more, come join Discord or leave it be, simple as that.

If it wasn't for those alternative social media, I wouldn't even use social media at all.

The Skyrim FPS lock to 60 fps was due to the physics engine not working beyond that. Knowing Bethesda, and knowing the fact that in the 30 or so rereleases of Skyrim they've never fixed that, I wouldn't be surprised if that's still there

WoW places. Since some of my servers died, I'm currently only sitting on dark portal (Firewall), and the Stranglethorn Valley server with Gurubashi Arena (Plex), Booty Bay (you can imagine) and wild shore (shared file system VM)

Personally, I'm holding off kbin all together until there's a mobile app and collapsable comments, but if I were to use it I'd just create my own instance. I can already access all kbin communities from Lemmy and I'm not a huge microblogging fan anyways, so it doesn't bother me too much.

Had a blast in the past, until my GPU couldn't handle the graphics anymore when I pushed myself to the competitive limits, and shortly thereafter they nerfed the Ares Ion (my absolute favorite ship) and my 10 year old Thrustmast TM16ks started to fall apart as well.

I feel you, I've been super active in a niche community of a game ( /r/ADCmains from League), and even though it was a salty shitshow, I enjoyed it there.

The issue is that content from any instance is physically hosted on the instance you access it from, which could lead to major legal consequences based on the data that might be hosted and the local laws.

If you want full control, set up your own instance. It's what I'm gonna do as well once my financial situation goes beyond eating spaghetti all day

I'm missing pretty much all the "League of Legends Mains" communities, especially ADCMains and SamiraMains. They were one of my absolute go-to subreddits and the only reason I haven't fully deleted my account yet.

Other then that it's mostly niche things, especially very niche wholesome fem-oriented NSFW subs

The thing that worries me about kbin is that everything is located on one single instance. You guys are building a lot of centralization over there which might lead to a Reddit 2.0 scandal at some point
