OP never said he/she commits such code but wants to iterate, test, explore.

Of course, unused var should not be part of a commit.

When you think about it, we have so few "season" to experience in a human life, a max of farming knowledge must be shared and available to all.

They had long longevity cause you didn't need a fucking client/gatekeeper (win only) to be allowed to use it, no DRM, was cross-platform from the beginning, was light, still light and the gameplay is simply awesome.

Any proof ?

I go regularly on Twitter/X, I still have to see suggested hate/nazi/whitethingy in my timeline. How people get exposed to this shit ?

totally. and if scraped, they must be able to provide the source. I don't care if it costs them money/compute time. They are allowed to grow with fake money after all

Of course. Sure, AI image generated stuff are impressive but no way those companies could cover the operational, R&D cost if VC were not injecting shit load of fake money.]

and no royalties? $3000, would be few, even for only one professional writer.

R.I.P. Bram.

I use VIm every day, I enjoy using it, I am still in awe when discovering stuff, still after 17y!

Couldn't the massive fires (energy and compounds generated) exacerbate these values?

Don't make me say what I didn't say.

To be honest, those never really worked reliably. i don't know where really lies the issue but loading a bunch of file and some file can freeze, make the app unresponsible that only a kill can resolve.
Is it a gstreamer issue? Rhythmbox has always looked bloated and never able to do what a simple audacious can do with the same file collection.

Regarding RHEL, they are pushing ITs to the cloud and not their own, I mean, I will do the necessary to not promote, support their products.

if you took non-friendly hardware, don't expect magic. ok, the macbooks up to 2012 were quite hacker friendly but thinkpads are really the to-go laptop for a perfect Linux experience. nowadays, we have more variety: system76, framework, etc...

kudos pal!

cloud is overrated.

I forgot to precise that Porco Rosso, Chihiro and other Miyazaki are actually available in the non family/kids profile, hence my little breakdown

Why do you think there's always a comment summarizing video being little 'bailty, because it is a freaking waste of time. 5sec comment summarize a 12min! If summary is engaging, I would watch the video but most of the time, I don't.

yes, sorry youtuber that you have invested 5000$ in this streamer gig and you copy-cat ikea-youtube-room

I would have expected something with Atheros, they were known to be FOSS friendly. but yeah, I didn't encounter such chip for a while now. I don't mind too much the drivers are closed sources - even though Broadcom is known to be a pain in the ass - as long as the "OS" and control software are opensource.

Not opensource, I don't want to install their stuff on my smartphone (bluetooth and position required) or need a VM. I am not fond of leaving such blackbox devices on my network which needs cloud! EDIT: OH and I remember the issue with the control software due to MangoDB drama.

It is used for now on guest only network, sure I use Wireguard on top but still, find it annoying. And tbh, it has been suggested and the to-go solution but I notice that people are just blindly recommending what they read chatty techie's blogs.

thanks @Palitu!

many thanks all and especially @SmoochPooch@lemmy.world I didn't know that Ubiquiti APs could be "jailbroken". Hopefully, I have never upgraded those :)

I know about the PinePhone Pro and I am quite experienced.
But even hardcore hairy dude like Drew Devault disavowed it (source).

I have think really really hard to find an event in the last 14years where I would have needed a water resistant phone. It doesn't need to be IP67

iPhone to scan a QR code.

Knowing that this feat was not existent 5years ago ( < iOS11) and is not implemented the same on , is it a fail ?

They have a president and government as US fanboys, importing the worse from this f'ed up country.

UI is still a bit weird. I enjoy Lemmy but linking or getting back to the context of a comment is still not possible (on Firefox/Chrome)

if it dies, will he have to pay the debts ?

The issue is not so much Apple but the lack of real challenger. If only Sony didn't give up on the PC market. I guess they bought in about tablets killing the conventional PC.

True.

What gnome-bluetooth does that bluetooth-manager can't? It's just a button reorganization in GTK4.

definitely, this and even gas. Being directly connected to the grid is a bit insane, when you think about it.

Are you under the impression that there’s a huge, powerful LGBT+ lobby influencing congress?

Fucking USA is not the center of the world! Give us a break.

Though LGBT+ on the workplace and media are pretty intrusive, yep.

I don't say I would need it, but that's not an excuse to not have replaceable battery. A so called waterproof sticker is $0.05. So, it could be sold with the new battery.

I personally have been bringing my phone in the shower for years.

total valide use case. (hem!)

In my mind, in a shower, I use both hands and it doesn't take more than 5min.

I am not fighting you, pal. I just want to avoid the argument "it's not because you don't need it that bla-bla", of course, I prefer protection but we need to find the right tradeoff, Glueing case, removing and risking to break a glued expensive and serialized screen to reach the battery: nope

Sorry, but that’s an awful comparison, and it isn’t even true. The Note 4 was actually ~10% thicker than the base iphone 14,

You don't get it, first 10% (actually ~6%) is pretty ridiculous and I took the biggest phone at the time that people were buying and using, actually I still have it. :) We could take the Note20, which is 0.830mm thick (0.785 for the 14 Pro Max and as big). Clearly, in this model, the backplate wouldn't have needed to get glued, if +0.020mm is all it needs to get a removal plate, let's got for it. I take extreme high-end smartphone as a ceilling, smartphone too big to my taste but which people buy and use.

*When I'm back from traveling, I will compare my wife's iPhone Pro max and my Note4, to see if this one is unacceptable. :)

that's fine, pal :)

Do you realize there's a difference between one or few "events" and a platform promoting it? There's a fishy attempt to bind Musk to any right-wing/nazi shit.

How dare they want the same rights

So basic argument.

call me when you will have:

  • Asahi could provide the same phenomenal power management (consumption, standby/wakeup,...)
  • 2D/3D/Video acceleration
  • thunderbolt 4
  • WiFi AC (not AX as this one is not yet really supported on linux anyway)

until then, yeah, it's cool what the team behind Asahi but I prefer to use my laptop in its full capacity on linux today and for that, ThinkPad and XPS fill the bill, for the premium league i mean, naturally, you will likely to be able to use any laptop without too much pain, ok, maybe not those dual GPUs.

seems not much. for sure, you should avoid fosscam! pure shit

I take in account what has been done by the past in the last decade, a Samsung Note 4 (8cores, 4Gb, etc...) had its battery easily replaceable and it is not any bigger than an iPhone 14!

1 more...

where did you live the last 10years when battery were replaceable on highend smartphones?

This is something typically American to be astonished by such thing or to talk about diversity all the freaking time.

1 more...

Industrial design is about tradeoffs

Nope, for battery removal, nope!
Are you going to say that pentalobe screws is also a trade-off.

Also, smartphone are just too thin and it's because you use a case that you tend to forget about it.
