in my experience the browser went through a poor engineering phase just as Chrome was getting good, and that continued for quite some time, the mobile browser took a very wayward turn a few years ago

oddly this happened at the same time as Rust and Firefox OS appeared which i think are phenomenal achievements

so Chrome ate Firefox's lunch and the series of weird CEOs have compounded that by attempting to cover it up with progressive sounding PR

because Ubuntu has been fantastic for a long time now

as a kid, current favorite music or radio

as an adult, science podcasts, movie directors commentaries (ridley scott, francis coppola highly recommend), select rain sounds and currently the watergate senate hearings

oh i didn't know Mint supported ZFS and nvidia wayland install etc?

got a ways to go

Blasphemous Grift is my favorite band name since One Punch Manslaughter

Agreed. Android and chrome os are used happily by 10s of millions without any idea it's a Linux distro

i disagree. Lemmy is quickly getting better.

this is a fucking masterpiece

it's true that it was close to impossible for the jury to remain unaffected by the political situation in LA at the time.

But the police and prosecutors did such a bad job it was almost impossible to convict him beyond reasonable doubt. He was convicted easily in the civil case later.

...could do with a hand, and it's very spicy! isomorphic rust code, bleeding edge UI frameworks, potential to radically improve a system used by millions

Is it true that addicts never stop being addicts

No, although anyone is free to return to harmful behavior if they choose to do so.

they just replace their addiction?

No, but most therapy is based around cognitive behavioral therapy along with many different complementary treatments. CBT strengthens non-addictive behavior and weakens or disrupts (replaces?) addictive behavior. You trained your brain to be an addict so you learn and train it not to be an addict.

subhuman? crikey

Connect :D

Mastodon interoperability for me too

Firefox and Kiwi browsers both support full Ublock Origin

So Linux is actually 7% desktop share.

Awesome!

yes it gives their life structure like other addictions do and is even controlled by the same part of the brain

just move to rust and be done with it :)

you can address these things using CBT and a nice therapist, those flinches will fade

i honestly don't think this is good for your mental health, but i'm glad your body feels better (i hope you're not smoking it)

mine is an asus e210ma with a samsung nvme added, it's great

isn't there a strategically important road near Bakhmut that becomes available if you take the area?

yeah that was horrible but there was diplomatic immunity involved

this is really cool. how is it with security?

oddly enough i presumed this was how mastodon did DMs, i hope they can get E2E in the apps ASAP

DYK: the new Lemmy client we are writing has progressive enhancement baked in from day 1.

Absolutely. In fact i think everyone is hoping steam os will be the distro to make the big push onto desktop because of the gaming and another just works kind of interface

self hosted services that automatically and safely scale to global p2p services is about to happen

try dual booting with the latest ubuntu and try a few things, customise it a bit. you might be surprised how good things are!

and open source
