If you can't grow your own, store bought is fine.

Facebook does not come on their unlocked phones. I've set up my S8 and S23, as well as Note 9 and Note 22 for family and none of them came with bloatware aside from Samsung's apps. However I got a used Galaxy tablet on AT&T and it had so much crap on it. At least it's removable using ADB.

I've yet to see artists migrate here. The artists started on DA, Newgrounds, YT, Tumblr, etc. The professionals moved to Twitter.

Reddit started from geek & tech culture, not creatives. Its ability to foster discussion extended well to not just techies but to everyone. Most creatives I've seen shy away from Reddit.

Plex does alright at suggesting music from your own library, and also has some really nice DJ-like song transitions that are legitimately way better than any other track fades. However, Plex users have been frustrated with the company's slow response to fixing long-standing bugs, and some of the features are paid. It's also not open-source.

No idea if it can suggest music that isn't in your library; I know that they integrate with Tidal though, so maybe if you have that it'll also suggest stuff from Tidal?

can we get some more deets on what you use it for in terms of terrain/altitude/distance/weather?

Seriously considering an ebike to replace a 20 minute car commute (12 miles). There are some 750w used bikes on my local craigslist for ~1-2k USD, but there's also a super cool dual-motor bike with rear suspension for $3k. Any advice?

MagSafe charges super fast

Magsafe has a 15 watt limit. Compare this to the 12 Watts you could get from an old non-fast charger, and the 45-100 Watts you can get from a modern fast charger. Also factor in that Magsafe is inefficient and creates more waste heat and likely throttles charging as a result.

Much better than using a port that can wear out over time

Meanwhile you're killing the battery with the extra heat.

Also the lighting port is pretty darn durable, and I've had no major issues with USB-C disability either.

Run by the same people. Donations to that link are used for both.

Some have raised concerns about wanting to fund one but not the other (e.g. earmark their donation to Lemmy but not Mastodon) but the admins said they weren't gonna do that yet.

I went from a Pebble Time to a Garmin Forerunner. Amazing battery life (2 weeks vs 5 days). But the software on the now defunct Pebble was massively superior. Sleep tracking on the Garmin sucks despite it having many more sensors. The Pebble pretty much always recognized short naps, and was pretty accurate with sleep/wake times.

The Garmin's UI is also dogcrap. For example, if you get a text, it first pops up with the name of who's texting you. You have to wait two seconds before the actual text shows up. If someone texts you again, the name pops up. You kinda have to wait for the other person to stop sending texts to be able to read anything.

I wish we could have Pebble's software in the body of a Forerunner. Sadly Fitbit bought Pebble and subsequently threw it in the trash.

maybe next time i see this it'll feel genuine

I seem to be in the minority, but I've never had issues with it resetting my default browser.

when I saw the title I thought it was this old thing: https://trillian.im/

The general subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/ was archived in 2011; pretty good at showing what the front page was like back then.

this reads somewhere between Neil Cicirega lyrics and Clerks dialogue

I'm a bit confused about it and I'm going up there to see you EVERYWHERE

TRUE especially since the pins are tiny. I bent two of them inside the shroud somehow and they snapped, so now I only have one front USB 3.0 port.
