It's the American dream. What is the quote? We're all embarrassed potential millionaires?

A friend of mine mentioned 'Contact' was the perfect film. I thought about it for some time and found that I agree. The plot, casting, filmography, and score are all top notch.

Beyond favorite there are quite a few films I consider 'done' we don't need sequels or remakes. Most recently the original 'Willy Wonka' came to mind.

Was going to comment about how there is a stock photo for everything. Fingers seem too good for AI?

Nevermind, that kids right hand... 😅

Thank you for the heads up on broken ultra wide. I wish this was considered a showstopper for most game developers but I digress...

It's really neat to think of Usenet as 'federated' considering that's a new term for most of us.

My preferred options are: Binsearch, astraweb, and newsbin

You get what you pay for, a bargain IMHO

I confused Franklin for Edison (!) and almost gave you a downvote for an excellent troll.

A poignant quote here

"It was a disaster so bad that a new word, Waldsterben, or “forest death,” was minted to describe the result. All the same species and age, the trees were flattened in storms, ravaged by insects and disease — even the survivors were spindly and weak. Forests were now so tidy and bare they were all but dead. "

Friends grow apart, it happens. Making friends gets more and more difficult.

You can decide how much effort you want to maintain relationships, and how much you invest in new ones.

It looks like you started a journey of self improvement this process can last a lifetime. At some point I discovered that people are really interesting and diverse, especially as they grow older

I think there is a celebrity book "How to talk to anyone" that would be helpful. TL;DR - interview people

Man, Star Control 2 was my favorite game to introduce friends to during the BBS days. Two player melee over a shared keyboard! The music in SC2 was top notch MOD/XM music back when trackers were starting to form a genre. Beeps on computers were the norm but you could hear a drum track over the internal PC speaker in this game. IMHO Tunic is the only game that came close to the wonder and awe of exploration and discovery. Absolutely a masterpiece.

Babu's game room has my favorite YouTube review. I'll let the bot pipe the link

I really enjoy listening to this guy, he really explains the details about graphics in an easily accessible way.

Everyone says 'listen' but I would suggest one way to act on that advice. This is more of a general parenting advice for small kids (or all kids?).

Let them choose what to do. If their interested in soccer, give that a try. If they want to learn about ants, let them observe, guide them through the thoughts.

Play is dictated by their interests, not your expectations or dreams. This way there is much less struggle, save for the times you really need, and learning and play get tied together.

Would serial Experiments Lain count? Anime series that seems to change after each rewatch.

I doubt this announcement is going to affect the calculators, but it's amazing to see how many things still run off this technology.

That can be really awkward! So if I wanted to comment, I'd need to head back to my home instance and just to search for the thread I was looking at earlier. I know it's not the main usage model, but small things like this generate friction that make or break social media.

I'm saving this comment. Brilliant synopsis of the great mustard wars. Let's hope AI doesn't learn from this. 😉

Hi Bot. That link gives me an error. Can you revise your opinion if the previous post was later removed for some reason?

I thought 'Children of the mind' was good, could have been merged with Xenocide.

Whatever you do, stay away from 'The Last Shadow'. What a terrible way to finish a series.

Is there a way to watch old threads? I want to tag an empty discussion, get notifications when it becomes active (maybe digest mode to avoid spam)

I have FOMO on good content that isn't active yet.

Is this already a thing? FYI using sync app most of the time.
