"Lockup" is an investment term. When a company has an IPO (Initial Public Offering, which is the day they become publically available for stock trades), the big shareholders and company employees who are invested ahead of the IPO are "locked" from selling their shares for a certain number of days. This isn't required, but most companies having an IPO end up having a lockup period set as well.

In regards to this headline, it just means that the initial investors and big shareholders are now free to sell their shares, which they are apparently doing in droves!

Yep, advertiser don't care how they got those clicks. They just want the numbers to go up so they feel like their "investment" is doing something. Tricking people into thinking it's user content, showing half naked girls for a dumb mobile gambling game, showing fake products... they don't care. Advertisers only have one thought: "Hurr Durr Numbers Go Brr"

Every day the same thing ad nausea. Fascism bad. Sexism bad. Phobia bad. Musk bad. Orange man bad. Inflation bad. Boomers bad. Cats good. Name my rescue dog. Celebrity good. Celebrity dead.

That's not just Reddit. That's the entire Internet right now. Reddit or Lemmy, X or Mastodon, Facebook or anything else on the Fediverse. It's all the same. We are living in a time of mass fear because of several different reasons. War, climate, economy, personal rights... pick whatever topic you want. There's a reason to be angry about it.

We need to go back to the days of happy people sharing their passions, rather than angry people attacking each other. But that won't happen anytime soon.

Nobody said anything about Resolve being bad. The topic of this conversation and community is Open Source, so a closed source suggestion was not relevant.

Just because you follow overlapping communities doesn't mean everybody else does. As long as the post follows the community policies, there's no problem with posting the same content to multiple appropriately-themed communities.

Why not delete it? The more they see people uninstalling the app, the better.

Putin's ego would likely make him redirect some of those resources to "investigate" the ex-guard's "suicide".

The saying is "vote with your wallet". It just means that if you are unhappy with what a company is doing, stop buying their products.

Your skin is crawling? That's not what skin is supposed to do. You should sell it. I know a website that will buy it from you.

Even WITH religion and god, these morons don't know how to be decent humans.

... once education is restructured almost entirely.

Not sure how you got "get rid of" from that statement...

but I personally will not touch a mouse because, frankly, the "useful data per mouse" ratio is way too low for me to justify using mice.

Are there any alternatives you work with, or do you abstain completely from those kinds of experiments?

You know what actually makes aggressive sales pitches and pushes? Religion.

Books like the one the teacher read do NOT force or influence children to become trans. They teach them about being open minded and to love everyone around us, no matter how they choose to express themselves.

Religion, on the other hand, DOES force children to pick a life of close-mindedness by threatening the fear of eternal damnation if they don't follow the rules in a book.

Kids need to be protected from this stuff. Sorry.

Don't use GoDaddy though. I was searching for a domain on that site and after a few minutes it was taken.

There are reasons to avoid GoDaddy, but what you experienced isn't really a GoDaddy-specific problem. If a domain gets registered on one provider, it will be unavailable on all providers. Unless you are accusing them of falsely saying they were taken but are available for purchase at a premium. I don't think I've heard of them doing that, but who knows what kind of greedy tactics corporations will try these days.

Flatpaks can also be used to run CLI programs, but it requires using flatpak run instead of using the apps standard CLI command. But you can create an alias and should work mostly the same way.

For example, I have neovim on my Debian laptop via flatpak. So in order to run it, you have to do

flatpak run io.neovim.nvim

You can create an alias for that command

alias nvim='flatpak run io.neovim.nvim'

And then you can use the nvim command as normal

Fucking morons will continue to vote for Genocide Joe anyway.

And no idea what Trump has to do with this.

Because Dictator Donnie is the only other option. Believing any other candidate is even a viable choice is delusional. American politics is fucked so voting for 3rd party is not remotely helpful. You either vote for Joe or are complicit in the MAGA agenda.

Basically every emulator developer will say that their platform is not for piracy but for backing up your legally purchased games, but it's usually just a "wink wink nudge nudge" type of thing for legal reasons.

This is an S-tier joke

That's very informative! Thank you!

Wake up Neo. Follow the white rabbit

At least they'll be nice and tight instead of all stretched out. Those grandparents' bootstraps were never pulled.

The American political system is extremely broken. Part of me wonders if making voting mandatory would help. I believe our biggest problem is not having enough younger people in public office, and that may be a result of not enough young adults voting. Not just for presidential elections, but for local/midterm elections as well. Obviously it's not something we can change right away, but I think we need to set ourselves on that path.

We have too many people in office who only care about the short-term goals because they're going to die soon anyway.

We need term limits and quite possibly age limits in every aspect of public office. Sadly, the people who have the ability to make those changes are the ones benefitting from the current broken system. So they won't make it happen.

Does your dermatologist not offer telehealth as an option? I'm usually able to just have a phone or video call with my PCP to see how things are going and renew my prescription. Not offering telehealth seems very odd in our post-2020 world.

Edit: Unless you needed to go in for a scan or test. Sorry, I didn't even consider that possibility.

For Karl Frodo!

Some people are so desperate for affirmation that this is entirely feasible.

You misspelled "absolutely". You spelled it a-r-g-u-a-b-l-y. You were almost there, but you only got the first and last two letters correct.

Sounds like you had a corrupt installation.

We have a Shark robot vacuum, so I called it Sharknado.

Usually, people who speak out against teaching kids about gender typically have a religious agenda. I apologize for making that assumption about you.

However, I do think it's important to teach kids about what it means to be human and that nothing is ever exactly one way or the other. Most things in this universe operate on a spectrum. Nobody is "chest-thumping about trans stuff". As I mentioned in my previous message, most people are just trying to teach kids about loving and caring for everyone and that it's okay to be different.

It shouldnt be “normalized” since it really isnt.

And why should trans people not be normalized? If we only operated based on "this is wrong because it's different", then we would still believe that the Earth is flat, the Sun revolves around us, women shouldn't vote, and white people have a god-given right to own slaves. The point is "It isn't normal" is not a good excuse. Anything can be normalized.

I think having that kind of mindset is based purely on fear of the unknown. A good education where we learn about other people and other cultures would vastly improve how we think about those around us.
