How very optimistic of them thinking they'll still have a functioning company after all this

Great article, except super cringe at the end suggesting Beehaw specifically and not saying "Lemmy" or something to indicate it is part of a wider service.

Unless Reddit reverses course ... a new site, such as the user-funded Beehaw ... will take its place.

Every time the working class gains wins under capitalism they are short term at best. The new deal in the US is a great example. As long as capital controls the levers of power, it will always find ways to claw back the gains of the working class for for the name of profit.

Portal, Portal 2. Bonus points for also having a female antagonist and passing the bechdel test

This is a known bug in Lemmy. You are subscribed

She tries to say "Apple" it's not her fault that severe brain damage causes her to respond nonverbally

Dignity

If you can self host, do it. Definitely worth having the freedom over your own server and not having to worry about what someone else decides you can or can't see

Some Lemmy users are wrong

How would you propose government officials officially distribute verified information? Just for government officials and distribution, that's the whole point of having a .gov domain is so you can know it's official

J. Kenji López-Alt is fantastic. Professional chef who shows a lot of the how and why in his videos. How to do something in the recipe, and why it's done. Professional chef with a bunch of other paid resources if you end up liking his style

Doesn't this mean the law is working as intended?

God I wish I lived in the America he says we're currently in. If only the left was that powerful here.

Lemmy introduce you to my friend, Proton

They are considered unique communities although they could cover the same topic. It's a lot like an email address that way, you can have til@fake.server and til@different.fake. They are unique addresses, but they can have the same name before the at sign.

Something i would like to see in future development is some sort of multi-reddit type feature to combine multiple similar communities into one grouping

Better question is who hasn't?

Never thought I'd see the day, someone admitting they were wrong online. Take some imaginary gold.

Rollercoaster Tycoon / OpenRCT2

Transport Tycoon Deluxe / OpenTTD

While they do now have multiplayer modes thanks to their corresponding open source projects, I still think the spirit of these games is firmly in the single player pc game category. Best of all they're both free and available on any OS!

The mods on startrek.website are the same ones from reddit and care little about transparency or actually hosting a star trek community that fosters open discussion. They are frequently banning users that voice opinions that don't break any rules except mod opinion.

This has been going on for some time and is the perfect use case for why decentralizing common discussion topics is a feature, not a bug, of the fediverse/lemmy

My "favorite" part of the majority ruling is how the loan forgiveness was struck down because it would harm the loan servicers. Not the government, not the people, the companies that have been contracted to collect the loans. That's who SCOTUS is most concerned with. Should tell us everything we need to know about who's interests are most important - capitalists

I know how you feel. Best way to describe it is I miss what Reddit was, but don't miss what it's become. It's all finally starting to hit home that it's dead though. The queen is dead, long live the king.

Nothing of value was lost. Let the idiots who think defederation and banning is the answer to everything wall themselves off

Why wouldn't they be able to interact with it, at least within their own ecosystem? The way I understand, if I defederate with them on my instance they can still see my content but I can't see theirs. There's nothing stopping Metta from taking that public data anyways and allow only their users to interact with it in their own sealed space. With how many users they have, it's possible it wouldn't even be noticed by the average threads user

I believe that toggle is just for "bot accounts" which if checked just marks your account as a bot.

EDIT: ignore me. There's a bot account toggle and show bot accounts. Idk why I didn't notice that before. Apologies

I get why you might want to, however there are a decent number of bots right now working on posting up content to Lemmy from either reddit or a stockpile somewhere. I'm working on a bot right now for my private instance that would post a few stores up pictures a day of my dog until it exhausts it's supply just to start stimulating my feed more. That's just an example from me, but the way I see it bot content posters aren't the worst for the health of Lemmy right now as it continues to grow.

Supposed to be a gif, guess it didn't load proper so I edited to make it the still image meme
