He ends the video with this, which I thought summarized his thoughts well:

" 'No hit to revenue.' (quoting Hoffman) Your 2 day blackout did nothing. But that doesn't mean that it has to be in vain. Because you can convert that blackout into an indefinite one, at the blink of an eye. That's what I'm doing. And that's what I hope all of you do as well. I want you to teach Steve Hoffman a lesson. I want you to teach him a lesson that his website is not valuable because of the domain name, the servers, the API, or the brand. It's valuable because of you."

that actually explains a lot

All for it. Would love to see tipping culture go away in the US

Also, I don't think an upvote will be 'saved' anywhere for you to reference later? So if you do want to circle back on the content, I guess 'boost' is the way to go. I haven't figured out how to 'un-boost' something though

Well said, this was all something I didn't really understand before reddit did what it did. It's all crystal clear now though!

I'm hoping that, similar to USB-C, this just forces Apple to make the iPhone better.

Yeah spez could have easily cashed in on a lot of money with Apollo and the other 3rd party apps if they worked together. So glad he chose this path though, fuck him.

For me it was World of Warcraft. First time experiencing an MMO, so that was magical in it's own right but the fact that there were so few loading screens in that game despite it's size was just 🤯

Yeah this kinda just tells me they said it (or heard it) but didn't believe it.

Xbox365 incoming

Or it should default to always self boosting (similar to reddit)

Like most things that frustrate me, it seems logic has flown out the window in this situation. At least from Reddit's perspective. I cannot fathom how they could mess this up so badly. Could you imagine if they would have given 12 months notice and piped API access behind Reddit Premium of some sort? They would have raked in the money.

So apparently his kink was just unconscious women? 😳

Yes this is a good callout. Kbin/Lemmy need to get better about cross searching various instances. Build in the https://lemmyverse.net/ functionality without having to browse to another site.

Roll that beautiful bean footage

the anger tells us it worked o7

Diablo for me as well. I just finished the campaign on necromancer and am playing around with a barb now.

I don’t think it’s open yet. Mastodon.social is though!

Assuming those posts actually wind up here, yes.

That's a great way to create another reddit but we want something (hopefully) better this time.

Apple Music has become my main 'first stop' after Spotify's latest UX overhaul. I've also started buying physical CDs again because I've realized the importance of physical copies. Never got into vinyl but I think the CD boom is still to come, ha.

I would hesitate with WD. I’ve always been a fan of their drives but their software straight up wiped people’s backup disks a few years ago, iirc. That would give me pause before ever using their software again.

We’re both offering anecdotal evidence, but I have been working with mail servers of various kinds for the better part of 15 years and I have never seen an IP or mail server wind up on a blacklist for “no reason”

I was having similar experiences this week but with niche 90s music history. It scared me to think that Reddit has so much control over that data. Makes me wonder if it's possible/feasible for a single person to download a few subreddits as a precautionary archive..

I’m actually kind of surprised that GitHub Desktop doesn’t have a Linux client. Found a blog where people have apparently made it work though.

What a 🤡

100% agreed. as someone that has been meaning to jump into the fediverse since the Twitter debacle, I was paralyzed by choosing an initial Mastadon server. If you want lemmy/kbin to grow, just link them directly to the best matched instance you can find for them.

Been on that spare for a long time, if we don't go without we may never replace the wheel anyway.
