The same right the EU has to enforce standards in money, electrical plugs, data protection or food safety. Does your country not have laws on what products can and cannot be sold within its borders?

Imagine running an OS that doesn't even respect you. I use Arch btw.

No, there is a random crash every six hours now to increase familiarity.

I'd gladly run a relay, but an exit on my home ISP? I don't want to go to jail, no thank you: https://husovec.eu/2014/07/austrian-court-sentenced-tor-exit-node-html/

I don't care what their executives earn, but if those companies paid their taxes and stopped interfering with unionization efforts that would be nice.

Recently Android added another scary "malicious" warning to the already numerous scary dialogs if one tries to install F-Droid. The "Install anyways" button also became hidden in the "More details" menu.

"I did a ride the other day, and she said she paid $102 for a 40-minute ride. I got $25, and that’s because I had a $5 bonus!" said Lyft driver Debora Williams. "It’s just ridiculous."

Come on, cut out the middle man. They're providing nothing of that value.

Yeah, but they only could provide that by burning a LOT of money in order to gain a monopoly and then squeeze everyone dry. Uber has always been a venture capital sham: https://pluralistic.net/2022/02/11/bezzlers-gonna-bezzle/

If it's not ActivityPub compatible I don't care anymore. Interoperability is a hard requirement at this point.

I don't use any any Google services for good reasons, but I wouldn't trust myself more not to lose my data than Google.

Yes, they should be legally required to open up access to their service. No more walled gardens that hold a large number of users hostage.

There should be an option to make posts instance-local for such things.

What part of their jobs do you think an AI can replace?

You think it is rate limited?

Sync between devices. I only read RSS on one device so I don't need it either. Besides if you don't think a service is useful to you why do you host it?

Great. That means there is a natural demand for artists. If AI starts failing because it isn't fed enough art, the demand will rise.

For anyone who wonders, it's not the uint32 maximum.

The most offensive thing here is the amount={5} attribute. What is it? It's not XML.

I would be very careful with that. US should try having a more representative government first.

It's a list of domains which provide temporary email addresses. The more interesting question is who uses them.

It was the first article about this subject with explained at least a little bit how MV3 will hurt ad blockers so it was still an interesting read.

I can't read Chinese, only Japanese, but I think it's asking for a name and the number of a personal ID which should have 18 digits.

If the instance defederates, users do not have an option to interact with the defederated instance anymore. The only choice you have then is to join an instance where the moderation policy agrees with your values or host your own instance. If you just want to see if defederation was the right idea, you could just visit those instances directly and look at their local timeline.

It only works if people stop using Mastodon once Threads stops federating. ActivityPub is dead they will say.
