Corporations should be held responsible for the emissions caused by their employee's commuting.

This would really change the discussion about return to office.

Bullshit. He's not 'out of money'...he's 'out of the money he's willing to part with'. Big difference.

They need to find his secret stashes of cash and make sure it goes to the people he owes.

I had no idea they are still pulling up remains.

The US has already spent millions on search and rescue (it surpassed 1.2 million even before the wreckage was found).

Anyone else love that the ultra rich can book quarter million dollar trips on ridiculous vehicles and then still cost the taxpayers millions.

If you are wealthy enough to book a trip into space or to the bottom of the ocean, then you need to be paying (in advance) for whatever resulting expenses might come out of that....or be required to carry the insurance that will cover it. It's stupid that taxpayers have to pay for this and that the Coast Guard is STILL AT IT...racking up more costs.

There's already a link to the vid talking about the utter bullshit and corruption surrounding the McD's ice cream machines posted in this thread, but here's a resource I haven't seen posted yet: an online tracker to find out if your local McD's ice cream machine is working or broken right now.

The Florida statute of limitation on collecting back taxes is 3 years.

Rep Moskowitz's idea is so fantastic, that I'd propose they look back 3 years and collect back taxes also.

Hopefully the prosecution saves this video and presents it at this douchebag's first, second, nth, parole hearing.

What's the strategy in that? Claiming she was never his attorney forfeits what shreds of privilege might be left of their communications and is also one less person he can blame "advice of counsel" on.

There were two races in my local school district that I just voted on. I don't even have kids of my own, but it's important to me that the next generation gets the best education possible. Since I didn't know any of the candidates, I was digging up their backgrounds and endorsements and a couple of them were proudly affiliated with "Moms for Liberty"...and that is an automatic 'nope' from me. That group is a toxin with a carefully chose name to sound reasonable. They aren't.

They must have done a cost/benefit analysis and came to the obvious conclusion that having to build multiple variants would be more costly than the profit they'd have earned by continuing to gouge all the non-EU consumers on proprietary cables and junk.

The world owes the EU a debt of gratitude for forcing apple compliance on this one.

Any system capable of manipulating the outcomes of international conflict needs to become property of the government via eminent domain...especially if that system is used...especially if used by an entrepreneur operating without oversight.

I don't even understand why there is a burden on the part of the insured to have to make a written request for this.

If you have a claim that is denied, the insurer should be required to provide the full details and reasons for the denial automatically at the time of the denial.

How does closing lemmyshitpost do anything to solve the issue? Isn't it a foregone conclusion that the offenders would just start targeting other communities or was there something unique about lemmyshitpost that made it more susceptible?

Your employer is ALWAYS looking for a way to either get more work out of you for the same compensation, or replace you with some one or some process that produces the equivalent output for less cost. The entire idea that employees should be loyal to their employers is one of the most successful propaganda campaigns ever spawned by capitalism.

He's also being challenged on where his actual residence is. State law requires representatives to live in the districts for which they are elected.

When asked if he moved any furniture, electronics, dishes, etc. into the home he answered no, when asked if he had moved any personal property into the home he answered: “I do not remember.” When asked if anyone assisted him in moving into the home he answered: “I cannot recall.”

The commissioner asked the following question: “The Sinopoli leader indicates that the leased property was not furnished. What furniture did you use at the Conservancy Drive house during the period of the lease?” Cole answered: ‘I don’t recall.” Cole also said that he did not recall sleeping overnight at the home and stated that his children did not sleep overnight at home.

He also stated that he did not recall ever eating a meal or bathing at the home

So, not just voter fraud, but also election fraud.

As much as I would LOVE to see them waste their money on this, we know they are all talk and no action and won't actually contribute anything.

It's not evident from the article, but I did some additional digging to find additional details.

The plane was a 1966 Piper PA-23 (a 4-seater)....which means the plane was not being piloted by an unnamed 5th person but by either Doug or his wife (and probably by Doug, considering he was a North Dakota Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel in command of the 112th Aviation Battalion).

And friends of mine have said, you are the most honest person in the world.

LMFAO. Does the world have recorded audio or recorded video of any other human being in the history of humanity making more provably false statements than trump? No. If there was a Guinness world record for lying, trump would be the record holder.

Well, granted my sample size is extremely small, but I've only ever known 2 polyamorous groups of people well enough to visit their home. And in both cases, there was always 1 person who wasn't as happy as the other two and was tolerating the scenario due to pressure from the person they considered their 'significant other'.

The dynamic was: A & B would be considered spouses to each other, A wants to bring in additional person C and create a trio under the banner of "polyamory" and B consents (because they are willing to accommodate anything A wants to make A happy). So person C enters the relationship and they form a polyamorous-trio, but instead of it being a true trio, it's more like A & B still have their relationship (now burdened) and A & C have a relationship, but B & C don't engage much. This is the exact scenario I have witnessed in the only 2 households I've ever known doing it.

That's given me the impression that arrangements like that usually serve the needs of one or two people but often leave at least one party secretly unhappy. Maybe if more people actually witnessed polyamory working as it's been proclaimed, there would be higher opinions of arrangements like that. But I sure haven't seen it - my current conclusion is that it's just not within the bounds of human nature for this kind of relationship to work.

Is this not a thing that is already known by every customer of these services? Seems naive for people to suddenly have a TIL moment over this. During covid lockdowns (my first and only experience with InstaCart), I was aware of this pricing scheme on my very first order.

Instacart is not the first nor last service to be doing this. People still using DoorDash better go start comparing the cost of the food items they are ordering from restaurants. And if you run out of gas in your car and call AAA to bring you some, newsflash: you aren't paying the local pump prices for those gallons of gas.

Yeah, this was predicted by everyone, long in advance. The surprising thing here is how long they've managed to cling to life. I expected them to be deceased by now. I didn't think they'd last another three years, let alone five.

Not just the police chief. They need immediate investigation into magistrate who authorized this raid basically signed their name to a raid that blatantly violates constitutional rights and ignores over 100 years of legal precedence

I guess the smart move, then, is to wait until the court case is over. If the court rules their was no fraud (which means the property valuation was accurate), then Florida should be ruthless about collecting back taxes. If the court rules that there was fraud, then Trump is subjected to whatever penalties the court hands out, but won't have to pay any additional back taxes.

Either way, Trump owes a debt - either to the court for fraud, or to the State of Florida for unpaid taxes.

That's the part of the point of the comment you are replying to. The fines are neither a deterrent nor an inconvenience to those wealthy enough to cover the cost. They use their money, power, and influence to continue to violate law without any other consequences other than pulling out their checkbook. The fines are meaningless to people that wealthy.

The most plausible path forward would be to pass the 2023 Medicare for All act (introduced by US representatives Pramila Jayapal, Debbie Dingell, and Bernie Sanders).
