I don't remember which, but on one of my flights, we were distributed eye masks with different colors on each side. If you were wearing the red color on the outside, it meant that you wanted to be left alone. Smart and yey, free eye mask!

Self-hoster of a searxNG here. With docker, your can spin your own in 1 minute top. I'll never go back to any other search engine, this is the best (imho).

The smell of the homeless crazy person that had the habit of shitting themselves and wearing the same green winter coat even during summer. They would wander off the street every evening and you could smell their presence 30 meters away.
I remember going home every time with the smell stuck on my nostril for half an hour before I could smell anything else.
The smell was nothing I ever experienced in my whole life. I would say it was closer to cadaverine.
Its been 15 years but I can still vividly remember it.
Haunting.

Without going into too much details, I'd say that I am in a situation reeaaaaaaaaaally close to yours. You may feel invisible, but I see you. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry to hear that. But the whole thing is hilarious

Brave's marketing has always made me uneasy, but it was more like a vague thought. This why I'm intrigued by your opinion. Do you have examples of their "problematic" management?

Jumping on the occasion to recommend the community Menslib (from /r/menslib)

It is focused on the struggle of being a man in this patriarchal society, while keeping a healthy mindset and constructive conversations.

In Muay Thai, when your opponent tries to throw a knee, they hold the back of your neck and pull you.
A knee to the stomach or plexus is really powerful, so you have to act fast.
The best defense in those cases is to hold the back of their neck in return, pull them closer so that they cannot strike, and try to throw a knee first.
It ends up with a play of the two opponents holding each other and trying to throw a knee while closing the distance.
And most likely ends up in the dead lock or "hugging" that we see in match.

I'm sure there are other techniques that involve this holding in MMA. Forbidding it would remove those techniques from the game.

They would stop replying to any message, be overall unreachable, ghosting me when we planned a getaway at that date.
I assumed they needed space. I'm fine with respecting boundaries, even if it stings nonetheless when you miss them.

But stopping literally existing out of the blue?
How much time do you need? Days, weeks? Should I wait for you to contact me? Should we cancel this weekend?
No way to get an answer. No, nothing.
Just toss a coin and try to find out.

I don't know where you should look, but clapping rapidly while they are pouring your drink, while shouting "Encore, encore!", should dissipate the awkwardness.

This is exactly what you said. Workout and cold showers.
Even if a cold shower is once a day, it is enough. Willpower is like a muscle, you don't have to exert it constantly, but regularly.
As for working out, you don't have to like it, to make it. This is the hard pill to swallow, but struggling is part of it, at least in the beginning.
What I find helpful personally, is to watch a coaching video. You follow the moves of the vlogger at the same pace, and only pause when you can absolutely not take it anymore. I end up cursing at the video and hating my life on the spot.

I recon that it helped me have more control on myself (like pain tolerance). But as for the ADHD you describe, I am not sure I saw any improvement personally.

I didn't like the situation, but I still did it because I liked the relationship. I see where is the misunderstanding now. My bad, and thank you

This meme, again?!
I do not understand the argument. Are you implying that being communist automatically pins you in the pro CCP?
My country is socialist. My family is socialist. All my friends are socialists. I love socialism.
By following the same logic, does that mean that I am considered a Nazis lover?

All I see in your link is a very strong opinion posted on Mastodon social, but there is zero source of what the user claims. The only link posted is an article from Amnesty international.
They talk about messages with the devs but no citation, no screenshot.

Should I only believe their saying without any proof? This is wrong.

Depending on your timezone, it is possibly a peak in traffic from the US, an overlap of July 4th, Reddit userbase jumping in, and the recent surge on shitposting about...sigh... beans.

Oooh I agree, this is some actual dirt

Oh great, /r/redpill found Lemmy...
No please be on your way.

I didn't think about it, but it does read like a buzzfeed

You also need to provide the kid that must be saved last minute, because they stupidly ran after their soccer ball, and their dumb ass is now in the middle of the road.

Nope, autistic burnout. Is the reason I stayed, for someone genuinely struggling.
But now I'm out, never ever again.

Isn't that convenient that it is happening only 48h before a controversial shift in Reddit's policy.

I am trying, because I like the fresh new air of Lemmy and I want to bring more positivity in people everydays life, for a change.
I posted a neutral and genuine question a few days ago and got doomvoted hard, because it contained a buzzword.
Haters gonna be haters, but this thing hurts more that I'd like to admit it. There, I said it.

Random thoughts here:
I am in control of the backup of my data.
I don't have to worry about an instance going off, or a radical change of policy.
I can choose whatever pseudonym I want.
I participate in the decentralization of the network, which feels good after the fiasco of monolithic Reddit.
(Edit) I am also in charge of its content and its user base.

Not for something that happened, but still a weird explanation :
I tried once to compare in lenght what it feels like to wake up amnesiac and trapped in a Portal like game system, to explain the parallel threads of a GPU, for a technical article at work.
Thank f*ck one of my coworkers kindly told me it was a terrible idea, before making it public to the whole company.

Thank you, that was a very informative read.
I'll wait and see how this topic unravels in the future. Wishing the devs will state more firmly their position.

I saw this rumor spread quickly and I want to check it out by myself. Is there any reference you could share?

On an unrelated note, how much data storage does it take to host 16,000+ videos? I'm curious

I tried installing an instance on Docker a few months ago, and it didn't work. Last month version was far easier to install imo

From what I read in the article, layoffs were higher in the non-techy departments of these tech companies.
Departments like marketing, and HR, that have a higher demographics of women, as stated in this article.
I don't think the article is fair to say that it drags us back many years regarding efforts in equity, when said efforts were targeted towards tech and engineering departments.

This humour is dark like my coffee

This is gold advice. Thank you.

Stellar castle is a cool ass name

I will give it a try. Thanks for sharing

And when I don't hear their majesty blast the litter all across the floor, I start to worry and go check. Little jerk is likely pooping in the bathtub.
PS: I love this bugger

I started working out at a park nearby in the morning. I kinda hate it on the moment, but I reward myself for the last 15 minutes or so, with some creativity.
Freestyle dance (??!), kicking around, doing the cartwheel, random moves. All the while listening to old school hip hop and pretending I'm a hot shot, haha.
Those last minutes are amazing.

Do you have a virtual machine, or a filesystem that you could mess with?
A good project idea would be to manipulate files on your system. Sort them, duplicate them, add programmatically one line to their content. The possibilities are plenty and you can see the result of your code.
Besides that, look for tutorial repositories on Github (or codeberg.org).
Last but not least, VSCode is my personal favorite, but you could check out PyCharm for beginning, as it has more features out of the box.
