seriously, who has time to use a ping pong table at work? It's like a decoration to remind you you're not having fun.

I don't think UX will be that big of a problem, in the past the unofficial reddit apps were all better than the official one. Major companies design by committee and the UX is meant too maximize profit and engagement statistics for advertising, rather than be "good". A lot of open source UIs are better than their paid counterparts. I think PopOS is far nicer than windows 11.

There are way too many answers after you finish this quiz. You should recommend, at most, three options after the quiz. This doesn't help narrow down your options much at all.

Part of this may just be that Lemmy does not stream video through the app right? Also most Lemmy servers force very small image sizes.

Have you used Java before? It's not a big leap from Java to C#, most of the concepts are the same. At least C# is a memory safe language, although I'm not sure if you're unfamiliar with the code base and languages if it really makes a difference which language you use here. Hopefully your coworkers can help hold your hand a bit here, this situation sucks.

Sleeping dogs is a great game. I never liked any GTA games or anything else in that style but I fell in love with that game. Great combat, fun story, great atmosphere and and beautiful representation of Hong Kong.

If new evidence exonerates a living person, they can be released. You cant bring an innocent dead person back to life.

Its actually running on AMD Epyc server hardware with dozens of cores and it's still dying under the weight.

I think the joy cons make it great for party games, it's really convenient to get a 4 player game of Mario Cart going with just two pairs of joy cons.

It's a reasonable increase considering recent inflation, and safe since YouTube just raised their price too. In the long run I would be worried for them since YouTube premium is a much better deal if you don't care about Spotify's exclusive podcasts.

The new Apple silicon in the Mac lineup is the most exciting thing they have done in the PC space in more than a decade.

I think the meme makes more since for any digital connection, where it's literally impossible for the cable to make a difference to the sound quality. I have seen some wacky shit online, like claims of gold plated optical audio cables.

Linux has decimated Windows in the server market. It would be unthinkable for a new project to use Windows server, even Azure assumes you want to use Linux.

There are lots of industrial applications where open source has dominated the market. As the end user you might not see it, but almost all software and digital infrastructure you use has open source components.

No reasonable person should be afraid to be filmed dancing. The video was completely innocent and the principal at this school is clearly a religious creep.

In this world today there is also no way to avoid being filmed anyway.

The difference in HDMI cables is entirely dependent on which version of HDMi hey are compliant with, it has nothing to do with using gold or any other kind of material. A digital signal is either readable or unreadable with no in-between. The chance of a degraded cable only lowering then quality of the output rather than resulting in total failiure is near impossible.

What a dumb article. Britain was broke in the 80s and needed the money and pressed the issue. China was weak at the time and wanted Hong Kong back peacefully. Under those circumstances it made since to pay the debt. Today China has the second largest economy in the world and zero incentive to pay back America, and no one expects them too.

There is no such magic thing as calling in a debt. If China is in default and no one cares, the debt practically does not exist. Americans complaining about it won't affect China's interest rates or anything else.

Reading books. There are some great books on programming out there. I would strongly recommend a A Players Guide to C#. It's structure, practice problems, and explainations of the basics were far better than any free guide to programming that I've seen online. There are a lot of other great books out there too.

It also doesn't matter too much about a book being outdated when you are only studying the fundamentals.

A lot of the stuff you read online has never been fact checked or edited for clarity. Some of it is great, but most of it is not.

The Japanese military still flies nearly the same flag.

It's hard to play Fallout 3 when New Vegas is so similar and so much better.

It's great, it's my favorite MH game so far. Great atmosphere and a lot of variation in monsters compared to World. The hunts are also a bit shorter since you know the monsters location from the beginning, and it feels perfect as a mobile game because of it.

That was my first thought as well.

Metal straws have gotten very popular in Taiwan, the home of bubble tea. It's not that inconvenient to take a metal straw or other reusable straw with you.

This is also a really good point. Britain immediately recognized the PRC after the 1949 revolution while the US recognized the ROC for another 30 years. If the ROC never paid back it's debts, and the United States never asked them to, the debt was de facto forgiven.

The single player mission packs were great. I loved Naxx and League of Explorers. I wish Blizzard could have just made that a separate game, since there was no incentive for unfun power creep in a single player experience. I guess Slay the Spire fills that void at least.

Okinawa swings pretty far left / anti american compared to the rest of Japan. I doubt this represents any kind of shift in Japanese attitudes at large. Okinawa is by far the most politically unique prefecture in Japan.

Half life alyx was the inspiration for me too. In the end I mostly play Slay the spire and cities skylines on it...

Silent Hill 2 uses it unfortunately.

The thought that people only know the floppy disk from the save icons makes me feel so old...

I'm really excited for this. I hope these changes will make busses useful. In the past they only slowed down traffic because cars would never overtake them while they stopped to pick up passengers. This has been a problem since Cities in Motion 1 and for such traffic oriented games it was a glaring oversight.
