Without suggestions/predictions and auto-correction it’s unable especially for a lazy user like me. Hopefully someone makes extensions for them.

Does that mean I can switch to Wayland from x11??

100% Chromium monopoly needs to die.

Yes. I left lemmy.world because they banned this instance. You can’t ban pirates (;

I have been struggling big time when it comes to cli commands. 😂 I needed this.

I’m currently dual-booting Windows with Bazzite OS. It has been more than three weeks, and I haven’t looked back. Everything works as expected. I mainly tried Bazzite OS for gaming. All the games I play work. I don’t have experience like you; however, I have tried PopOs, Ubuntu, manjaro, Arch and a few more; however, I enjoy Bazzite the most.

Initially, I heard about Bazzite OS here on Lemmy; I was tempted to try it out. As someone who loves FOSS, I always wanted to move to Linux. However, I do gaming occasionally, holding me back until I discovered Bazzite OS.

  • Work: I need to learn Linux to be a penetration tester.
  • Customisation: I Love customisation, only Windows (I still have it installed on my other drive; it’s fully customised with zero bloatware). Currently following this tutorial to customise my OS. However, I can’t find anything similar to Latte-Dock. I have tried Plank and Cairo Dock. They’re buggy.
  • Apps: I’m looking for alternatives to ShareX, Fan controller, Flow launcher any other helpful tool similar to them. I have been exploring for the last 2/3 days, but I couldn’t find any app that comes even closer to ShareX (I mainly use video recording, OCR, Image capture and GIF maker features), I’m currently trying FlameShot.

Exactly. On Reddit you get roasted for asking a simple question like wtf. Lemmy is the way.

Please do an update later on. I also want to try out Linux gaming. Gaming is the reason I keep going back to Windows.

A great tool, wish they had a feature that would allow you to add plugins/add-ons such as OCR, GIF Maker etc. Similar to what FlowLauncher offers plugins wise. (FlowLauncher is a FOSS system wide search engine for windows).

It's all in one open source capturing tool:

• Capture full-screen, active window, specific regions, and more.

• Record your screen with or without audio, and save as video or GIF.

• Upload images, text, or other types of files to over 80 supported destinations.

• Includes a colour picker, image editor, ruler, and more.

• Add text, arrows, shapes, and blur parts of your captures.

• Automate repetitive tasks with custom workflows and hotkeys.

Flameshot + Xsnip = ShareX and more

I'm using Firefox Nightly along with Arc Browser, and I think there's room for improvement in Firefox. It's just a suggestion, nothing more.

Cheers. I do watch his videos + TechHut and The Linux Cast.

Flow launcher + Everything even better.

Cheers for recommendations.

I use:

  • proton VPN
  • Portmaster
  • Wintoys = Windows debloater (I also have another tool that has almost all debloaters for Windows)
  • Xnviewer = image viewer (will be checking out the one you’ve suggested)
  • CopyQ (Clipboard manager)
  • Start11 (Not open source but a good tool for taskbar customisation)
  • QuickLook (selecting a file or folder then pressing the space bar, you can view a document, video, folder, or song without having to open it)
  • HotKeyP - App launcher (I turn off all start-up apps and use this tool to launch all the desired apps with a single hotkey)
  • Flow Launcher - I can’t use Windows without Flow Launcher; it’s my universal search engine for everything.

I wish it had Nvidia support. Even though I have it installed, it’s useless for me. Currently trying to find a fan control/curve tool/program that works with Nvidia GPU.

Thanks for the update. When it comes to dual monitors, I’m in the same spot. Reading through the comment section, I found that Bazzite OS is what might suit me. As for the environment, I was going for KDE; however, after reading your update, I’m sceptical about it.

It’s not just a reader for web browsers; you select any text and press the hotkeys, and it takes you to a different window where you can read without any distractions.

Here is a preview of it (First app): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPPTZ2nX1C0&t=20s

If I’m not mistaken, are you referring to Tab groups or tab stacks (Vivaldi has that feature)? If yes, then that’s one of the best must-have features. I wish Mozilla would bring that to Firefox.

Thank you (: Mental Outlaw is one of my favourite YouTubers. He’s the reason I learned about FOSS, Digital privacy. Then, I discovered useful websites such as Privacy Guides.

Any news on the tab groups? Also, anyone mind sharing a GIF or a small clip of the vertical tabs?

Just wish Zen adds small details/features like Arc team does. Small details/features are crucial in the early stages of the project.

It’s not that powerful but does the job, but if you want more advanced ones. This tool has almost every single one of them. With one click, you can download any debloater.

Edit: it also has windows optimiser tools.

I'm looking for an alterntive to this for windows. If anyone knows people lemme know.

Np (:

This is not a fictional world.

So yesterday, I tried Bazzite os, and it’s pretty good. Works perfectly with Nvidia GPU. You have to use x11 instead of Wayland. So far, I’ve tested BF1 and Hell Diver 2. Experience is excellent, with no lag whatsoever. It’s the first time I’m giving Linux a proper shot. However, I will need some advice on optimising it. For example, fan control or any other tips/tricks I can get.

(I had app flickering issues, and changing to x11 fixed it)

Dual monitors are working perfectly with 165Ghz refresh rate.
