Nah it’s been confirmed that the expansion pack was used from the very beginning for the lighting engine (game does have pretty damn good looking lighting for its age, to be fair).

Well there’s a few things for early at home games, for one the instruction booklets were actually worth a damn, often containing the story, tutorial, and more. Also, size was at much more of a premium, so since instruction manuals were a thing, it was considered a waste to have all of that stuff in the game itself. I’m sure there are exceptions but that’s the general idea.

Much as I lament the loss of good instruction manuals, it’s understandable why they went away in light of why they were necessary before.

To be fair, this is not a windows exclusive problem, especially in the age of smartphones and flatpak.

I do go for YouTube premium but that’s my primary source of entertainment nowadays and it does result in more money in my favorite content creators’ pockets (apparently more than ad-based revenue according to some sources at least). Plus YouTube music is included in that and is actually quite good.

These things are popping up like Javascript frameworks recently. And ironically enough those seem to have slowed down.

Yeah TOTK story was better in that you’re unraveling a mystery instead of just seeing stuff that already happened. Technically the stuff in TOTK also “already happened”, and mechanically it’s pretty much identical, but imo the way it’s framed makes it much more interesting and compelling. I think the key is you’re seeing these events in order to uncover new information, whereas BOTWs flashbacks didn’t really give you any useful information, just filled in the details of a story you already had the cliff notes for.

Did this article get edited or something? I didn’t get much of anything of substance in that article at all, positive or negative, amidst the cancerous amount of ads.

Not a fan for several reasons. Namely the Chromium base and the weird crypto stuff. Also I wasn’t asking for solutions to the cancerous ads, I was making a snarky comment about the site while asking where the OP got the negative vibes from, which I didn’t get when I read it.

Fun fact, Spirit and Shadow aren’t the only temples in that game you can do out of order. You can do the Fire Temple first, as there is only one chest that requires arrows and it doesn’t have anything crazy important in it. Water Temple can also be cleared without arrows, but you do have to get a bit more creative with some non-intuitive jumps and either saving and resetting or using a warp song to go back to the dungeon entrance without raising the water level in order to do that. Spirit Temple does require arrows but nothing else from the other dungeons is required so you could do it as early as your second dungeon. Even then I think you can abuse invincibility frames to skip an eye switch and I can’t remember anything else that required arrows in there. Shadow Temple is the most restrictive, but only because you have to clear Forest, Fire, and Water in order to gain access to it. Once you’re actually in the dungeon you’ll find that arrows are the only item from the other dungeons you actually have to use to beat it.

The only reason they do it is because their analytics tell them it works. Same with the subscribed vs not subscribed graph that so many of them flash on screen nowadays. Granted the ones I watch at least get creative with the commentary surrounding that one.

I mean, I hate Windows as much as the next guy, but the Recent Files list can help pick up the slack here. Also Windows typically saves new files to appropriate places and saves edits to existing files in the same place you opened the file at. Not knowing where a file is has never really been a problem I’ve had with Windows. If I have it’s usually been because an individual 3rd party app did something weird.

You should look into the randomizer if you have the means to run mods on your switch.

Same here, might just be because I learned with Object Oriented languages but C++ syntax just gels well with how I think. That could just be autism though.

That will either kneecap my connection speed or just send my data to the VPN provider instead of my ISP. Or both. Besides, I’d rather not give the site exposure/clicks if the ads are insane rather than block the ads and still give them traffic.

Not gonna defend YouTube here, they should not have done this. HOWEVER I do care about creators on YouTube and so I actually purchased YouTube premium. It’s actually a pretty sweet deal when I consider how often I actually watch YouTube, and the fact that I actually can get a lot of use out of YouTube Music, personally. I’m not gonna say it’s a good deal for everybody, but if you actually watch any YouTube content creators regularly that you don’t contribute to via other means, it’s worth considering to avoid ads while making sure they can still get paid.
