When you read about the Holocaust and the Nazis, you like to imagine you'd be the good guy. You'd fight the Nazis, you'd free the concentration camps. But apparently I wouldn't. Apparently I would have just sat there paralyzed, incapable of doing anything about the genocide I see every day. Unable to think of any way to help. All I can do is retweet and protest and write a stupid blog post. I feel so stupid...

I wasn't ready to see that my friends are Brownshirts [34]. That they actively cheer on the genocide...I wasn't ready for my friends being [concentration] camp guards, party officials, propagandists.

Fuck, such an accurate picture

I don't know what to do, but I know these are not my people. Who can work with people whitewashing genocide. Are we supposed to pretend it's business as usual as we send our friends' intros, frolic at conferences, discuss monetization strategy.

To Ed Sim, Erica Brescia, Michael Dearing, and especially Matt Ocko, we're done [47]. I'll never pitch you again, never ask for help, never send intros or recommend you. I'm done with Boldstart, and DCVC, and Harrison Metal, and Redpoint. (I’m also done with Bessemer [48] and Sequoia [49] and First Round [50].)

Damn, the balls on this guy. Very inspiring

The obtained material, which is molded and opaque, is heated to 2000 C and kept at this temperature for two days

Fuck that's a long time and a high temp

He attacked their investors by name and said they support a genocide. Either they back him and everyone looses their job or they fire him

So they're preparing to get sued tens of millions of dollors by the EU in March of next year?

The guy's twitter password was yourefired when it was hacked, then it was "upgraded" to maga2020! when it was hacked again. The sec researcher told him to add 2FA and a stronger password; he didn't.

So, yeah, not surprised

Lol wut. My streaming torrents have never been better!

This is why I hate startup culture. When you give off your equity to capitalist fat cats, you make yourself a bootlickers of mainstream discourse, even if that discourse is calling for genocide.

Fuck CircleCI

Yeah, they just want your phone number.

It's against our company policy to let users do 2FA over SMS. Only secure options are allowed.

veterinary reports show the condition of a female monkey called “Animal 15” during the months leading up to her death in March 2019. Days after her implant surgery, she began to press her head against the floor for no apparent reason; a symptom of pain or infection, the records say. Staff observed that though she was uncomfortable, picking and pulling at her implant until it bled, she would often lie at the foot of her cage and spend time holding hands with her roommate.

Kinda amazing they go to the SEC for investor fraud instead of the courts for persecution of torture

I wonder if these "scientists" were the type of kids that would burn ants to death with a magnifying glass too

Rapists in a cult that have been convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison is definitely news, celebrity or not.

Reproducable actions that do exactly what you expect.

Fuck no. A small business that is struggling to survive should be able to use WordPress for their website and Linux for their laptops without paying

So hardened ssh configs following best practice cipher whitelist are unaffected, cool

They're lucky they didn't get executed. Israel has killed, what, 25 journalists so far in the past month?

The most unrealistic part of this

Why are you posting a screenshot of text instead of just linking to the source?

Downvoted. Were better than this.

You skipped the part about wtf the app is and why we should care.

I couldn't find any tools to check this, so I built one myself.

Literally the first link on join-lemmy.org has a table showing all instances and it shows both how many instances that instance is blocking "and* how many other instances are blocking that instance

You read thing on LinkedIn? Its just for posting bullshit corporate stuff anyway.

Corporations are required to protect their shareholders,

Corporations definitely are not required to protect their shareholders, especially when those shareholders are championing genocide.

Anyway, this is yet another reason why for-profit companies should be illegal. The goal of an organization should be to help the world, not make as much money as possible.

Lots of justification in this. Just be the change you want to see.

I only work with libre formats at work. If someone wants to collaborate, they can easily install libre office or gimp or freecad or gnu cash or whatever. Most libre software is free and cross-platform.

Mostly I downvote people who post screenshots of headlines or tweets instead of posting a link to the source. IMHO we need better moderators to delete that crap, but I do my part.

It's valid and relevant. Thank you for sharing to this community.

Hopefully will be evidence presented at the 2024 Israeli War Crimes Tribunal

Because I bought a Linux laptop from one of those vendors. It came with QubesOS but ran awful for it. I tried to debug but it fucking broke after 4 days.

That was 6 months ago and I'm still waiting for them to refund me after I sent back the broken device.

Never again. Thinkpad has my money for life if they keep making durable hardware.

I didn't know she was pointing out security vulnerabilities. Great to see Citizen Lab doing God's work as usual.

Wu herself had previously sent various public tweets obliquely warning about similar, privacy harming issues associated with the Sogou software in 2019, citing a 2015 report describing similar vulnerabilities. A particular concern she shared was that users of Sogou may decide to install Signal App to communicate, believing the app's safety profile to be broadly appropriate for many people. However, the eavesdropping and network fingerprinting risks associated with the use of a third party keyboard such as Sogou take precedence over Signal's security profile It is possible that Wu's tweets about the issues in the Sogou software of which she was aware may have caught the attention of Chinese authorities who were searching for related information on Western networks.

Please dont just post screenshots of text. Post a link to the content.

Parker added that as someone whose contributions to society would almost certainly be measured cumulatively as a net loss, he also saw great potential in the future of the metaverse.

Lol

Not easily

Its so fucked up that he died outside of a prison cell.

This. If you've ever bought a laptop and then realized you couldn't use the touchpad or thr WiFi because it wasn't supported in Linux, you'd see the importance of a vendor that explicitly supports linux.

I've also been in charge if buying laptops at work for employee's. After a few devices wouldn't work 100% in Linux, we only bought devices that were explicitly made for Linux. It's not worth the risk of throwing $1k-$3k at a device only to learn later that it's not usable.

The thin piece of electronics in my hand that I'm typing this on

Lol wut? I've used it for over a decade in North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. It's fantastic.

Great for traveling without data. Also POI features make it wayy more useful than Google Maps. Good luck searching for a drinking water fountain or picnic table on Google Maps.

I think in most countries you dont have to file anything because it happens automatically

TOTP is fine. The point is that the OTP shouldn't be sent to you. It should be generated on both sides independently.
