another worker fell over and hit his head on the concrete behind me. while I was checking his pulse, he died. creepiest day ever. and the only thing the company did was take a long lunch due to the EMTs in the work area.

I think billionaires are a sign that capitalism is out of control.

Is it wrong to hate evil people? I'll admit, the day he is no longer in office (however that may occur), will be a day I celebrate. I feel this man has done unforgivable damage to our society. Term limits and campaign finance reform would go a long way to keep his ilk out of seats of power.

IMO, he is definitely the Christians' mascot. not only due to how much they support him, but also because he reflects the bigotry and ignorance they so deeply cherish.

TLDR: "Meta executives told staffers last week that ActivityPub integration β€œis a long way off,”

kilts would be nice. I like the fresh breeze.

this year was a hellride. I spent too much time indoors and am no longer in good shape. I'm glad it's over. next year I'll continue focusing on education (starting my journey in cybersecurity). I hope to move further from surviving into thriving. I'm tired of being poor and alone.

At this point, we could just omit "United" from the United States of America. /s

Thank you for saying this. Calling for evacuation, then blocking the exits, is cruel and dishonest. Depriving civilians of basic utilities is certainly inhumane. The calls to kill 'human animals' rings of some Nazi messaging. The right-wing government is losing credibility and those whose support it is as well. Please, folks, let's remember that it's oppression and bigotry that is the real enemy here. #PeaceNow #religionandbigotry

benefits of ritual and separating them from superstition.

I think it's interesting to explore different frames of mind. I used to be christian, but then I read the bible. afterwards, I embraced paganism which has a more positive and welcoming community generally. eventually, the seeds of reason became rooted in my mind and I grew to be the atheist I am today. I still appreciate the experience of group ritual, as it feels good to explore different aspects of my personality. I guess the roleplaying is therapeutic. mixing that with my interests in mythology makes for plenty of content to examine. what encourages different rituals to develop? what are the notable effects of ritual in general? is superstition somehow beneficial to the community? I find that digging around to explore these questions can keep me busy for hours, which I enjoy thoroughly. unfortunately, no one I know shares the same interests. most folks seem to be superstitious about it, lol.

I agree with the headline, even if only from personal experience, and I have worked and lived in over 5 states while having worked in over a dozen. I've lost friends and family to the "anti-woke" herd. as such, I've made the choice to go low/no contact with them. they've decided the rights they enjoy aren't good enough for folks that don't vote like them. the bigotry is everywhere it seems! I even quit a job because I wouldn't tolerate the constant Trump/Jesus worship that management was forcing on staff. until a respect for Reason takes hold, I'm afraid this will only get worse.

while that's possible, I'm hopeful still.

when I get to the ballot box, I vote for the candidates that most closely align with my policy positions. others are free to criticize, complain, and vote however they like. I don't owe anyone my vote, except maybe the future generations that stand to benefit from the policies I support. I find telling others how and who they should vote for to be detrimental to increasing the turnout that's desperately needed. #pleasejustvote

I'm pessimistic enough to think this is an example of what his punishment will be for just about all his crimes.

mine's similar, except it goes bowl, beer, bath (yes, with bubbles)

I think someone like Hammurabi would be interesting. Are we restricted by language though? if so, I'd have to say someone like Aleister Crowley or "Mark Twain"

handycam overuse. I don't care how good the writing, fx, or character development is, I'll stop watching if it's seemingly abused.

if it's Christian ethics that guide us, we're all fucked

there's a number of them already. in fact, I'm using one to write this comment. perhaps I misunderstood you though. could you please elaborate on what you mean?

I'm sorry to hear about your heartbreak. been there, it sucks. what I find helpful is a little bit of pampering (live show, bubble bath, etc). a change of scenery or visiting friends can help as well. I know it may should silly, but if you need to talk about it, chatGPT is an option that can be easier to be open with. I'd offer to listen, but that would sound creepy from a random stranger on the Internet. 😜

they didn't have any to begin with. what kind of person thinks it's a good idea to worship something that demands human sacrifice? or commands genocide? endorses slavery, considers women to be second class, drowns an entire planet, condemns his children to eternal torture..... need I go on?

the enshitification would reach warp speed

I pace my steps in such a way that I open a door with my foot. (obviously not with doors that are latched)

interesting stuff. I wonder how it's developed since that article was published.

so, how'd the date go? 😝

Biden SHOULD be concerned. Cornell West supports the policies that help "Main Street" (the working class). Biden/Trump support "Wall Street" (yes, I know Trump is way worse). Society needs bold change to update our healthcare, education, and campaign finance systems. To me, West represents something to vote FOR, not just voting to keep another guy out. If I have the option to vote outside of the common "lesser of two evils" choice, I will. My vote goes to the person that has the best policies on the ballot. These are campaign finance reform, universal healthcare, universal education, climate change, investment in infrastructure, etc.
