I haven't seen those two, but the best of the best of the best worst movies of all time is "The Room" (2003).
If you never play multiplayer, you're probably fine. Though the only issue with that is triple A games not letting Anti-Cheats work on Linux for whatever reason.
Other then that, you'll only run into issues when modding Skyrim for the most part. Here's a github page with a step-by-step guide on how to do it; although, far as I can tell it's four years old and might be obsolete.

AFAIK you can't block an instance from your account. I.e. I like to keep tabs on the invasion of Ukraine, but one of the instances I used to use for that still federates with lemmygrad, so I would get russian propaganda in my feed from time to time. I would block that user, but there would always be another one eventually. I just don't usually use that instance much any more.

Canada here, not very common until you get close to Canada day or Armistice day. Recently though; there have been people flying it a lot and they mostly seem to be the conspiracy/queen of Canada types.
So yes, it is unusual. Perhaps it can be seen as a symptom of American nationalism, and all the pitfalls it represents.
