This is all I've been trying to get across, y'all won't be able to enjoy your sync if the admins can't pay for the servers. Seek out your home instance's donation links and come up out them pockets like y'all did for Lawrence. This applies to everyone else too, but since I can clearly see sync users commenting that they paid to remove ads or for lifetime access to upcoming features(like posting), I know they have the money 😂

As far as .World goes, their lowest Patreon sub is $1 a month.

I've had that happen to me once, fuckin around and floating in the pool with no sunblock on because "I don't need it, I'm black". Mf, let me tell you, I freaked the FUCK out when my skin started to peel.

Or, you could just donate to the admins of the instance. They make it pretty easy in general. This is almost as bad as the "I wanna add ads to Lemmy to help admins cover costs" person. Just donate, and remind others to donate if they can.

Edit: I thought about it further. adding rewards would morph the comment section to a popularity contest a la Snoozerville. On top of that, any instance adding rewards would likely be targeted for defederation by others. I didn't come here for capitalism, thats basically the root cause of the migration in the first place. And again, all of this is easily solved by donating to the instance admins.

We are talking about donating to your instance admins and the Lemmy devs. Read the entire post. Your instance admin is how you are able to have an account to post about sync prices in the first place.

Nobody made a fuss, because there's a larger amount of folks not using safari than folks that are, so safari wouldn't be able to pull off "block your browser if you're using an ad blocker" the way chrome could, if/when they want. Because safari would only be screwing over apple users.

The only reason I keep coming back to this thread is to point the sync users towards donating, but they just keep talking about sync prices as if that's keeping their home instance up and running. They think its about the app itself and not about a reminder that if lemmy instances aren't funded, Sync will be desolate. Which will mean that the $5.00-$1xx they may or may not spend on Sync would be for an effectively dead app.

It's discussed on a regular basis, most admins are very transparent about their expenses. You would just need to go look at your home instance's community page and do a little light reading.

Me too. I feel much calmer scrolling through Lemmy as opposed to Reddit or Twitter. I have way less of an urge to troll over here.
