I tried to upvote OP post on reddit and RIF reminded me I'm not logged in. I frowned, then I laughed.
Disney Plus straight up refusing to run anything while we were on vacation just made me really mad. Here I am setting up the tablet for the kid, and then - nah wrong region mate. Even VPN didn't help somehow.
Not to rag on you, but do consider security risks associated with using an unsupported OS. Take care.
That's good UX, the real fuckup is using default admin credentials om your router.

One of the reasons is security, older Android APIs let your apps do whatever they want. You probably could try to find an apk that would work on older devices, but google has minimal API requirements that involve permissions and data access, and if your app doesn't support them it wont be allowed on the Play Store. So even if devs supported other devices, you wouldn't find the app on the store.
I find it hilarious that the stereotypical reddit power hungry mod turned into the indentured servant hero standing up against a greedy corporation.
