Well, that leaves Willie, last of The Highwaymen.

This is how we know that he thinks he lost.

And nothing of value was lost.

So they were flat-out lying about the gold bars and half-million in cash at his house? Because I can’t imagine any legit business where that’s required, or why it would be at his house instead of a safe deposit box.

I did the math once for my own commute, on my e-bike and with my electric car, and found that while the electric car uses only 20% of the energy that an average gas-powered car would, the bike uses just 1%. My bike, on my route (both directions averaged together) got 2,200 mpge.

You know what the last straw for me was? A few years ago, when people got infected with malware from ads including ads that ran on a Forbes article about malware in ads that you had to disable your adblocker to read.

He’s trying. For reference, Vance did 4 years active duty in the USMC in Public Affairs.

Don’t you think he looks tired?

Speaker list is a veritable who’s who of terrible people.

Just another example of how Americans will use anything but metric (we do use metric sometimes, I know, it’s just a meme). We could easily measure it in Wh/km, but then we would also have to change how we measure gasoline cars if we want people to make direct comparisons. But, since we sell gas by the gallon, we would also have to change how gas is sold. When the EPA first came up with mpge I thought it was stupid (we don’t buy electricity by the gallon!), but I’ve come around to the convenience of being able to easily compare the two types of fuel. The EPA assumes 1 gallon of gas to contain 33.7 kWh of energy.

Maybe we should get everyone to switch to Joules for measuring, buying, and selling gasoline and electricity?

They have tattoo chicken. This is turkey. Totally different. /s

On another note, I’ve been a couple of times and it’s great. I highly recommend it to anyone going to Vegas.

What, no Hillary Clinton? Is he trying to lose again?

Yeah, later books seem like Frank Herbert was way too obsessed with sex. The idea of Honored Maitres as using sex to control humans seemed pretty misogynistic, even at the time (yes, eventually there was a guy, too). Still, I think the whole “put humanity in a pressure cooker so they explode outwards when the lid is gone” concept was pretty thought-provoking. Also the Siona project; if prescience is a real thing in that universe, it can be studied and understood, then weaponized. How do you defend against an enemy that knows where and when you’ll be?

Why is everyone acting as if she’s an heir or something? All delegates to the convention have already been elected. If Biden steps down, they can vote for whoever, and Dem party rules state that the superdelegates can’t jump in until the 2nd vote if no one wins the first.

“Esoteric” meaning anything more complicated than subject-verb-object to this subgenius.

The US isn’t in a recession, but all these big companies seem to think it’s high time we had another.

Technically true since he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. The people he’s surrounded with, however, care an awful lot.

Holy shit it really happened.

Other countries have whole campaign seasons that are shorter. We’ve just gotten used to multi-year campaigns and never-ending reelection efforts. It wasn’t always like this, and I don’t think it’s good for us long-term.

I believe the correct response is “go fuck yourself.”

Seems to me the undercover agent made an extremely poor choice in links to send. If you expect to track down whoever clicked it, a link to a private video would be the obvious choice.

I showed that movie to my daughter and her boyfriend, and he was amazed that Sergeant Private Zim was the voice of Mr. Krabs.

He just won’t go away. Read the room.

Truss has become vocal on US politics, last month addressing Republican supporters and urging them to learn lessons from her brief time in No 10. She said: “I’ve learned how powerful the unelected bureaucracy is. You have to win in November … you have to dismantle the leftist state … they are devious, they are ruthless and they are out to get you.”

I don’t see how she’s qualified to say jack shit about US politics.

Yes, “teach them a lesson they’ll feel in their bones.” Although I thought the focus of being a despot, along with the Scattering, was to teach a humanity a lesson about avoiding the “Pharaonic Disease”; to reject authoritarians.

The pagers that detonated were the latest model brought in by Hezbollah in recent months, three security sources said.

I wonder if Israel has a unit similar to the NSA’s TAO (tailored access operations) where they inserted people into the manufacturing plant to tamper with devices before they even left the factory.

I wish I had known about heat pump water heaters before I replaced mine about 6 years ago. Heat pumps for home heating and water heating should be mandated by building code here in mild California. It’s the perfect environment for them. Unfortunately, I use heating so infrequently during our “winter” that replacing my perfectly functional furnace is not really worth it. So, instead I started using the heat pump mode on my portable air conditioner (yes, I know, but also used infrequently) to provide just those couple of degrees of heat that I need. It’s not bad, with a COP of 2.7.

No puppet, no puppet, you’re the puppet!

Personal experience: having guaranteed health care not tied to my employment is a huge burden off my shoulders. I am so grateful that my wife and I are taken care of, and I vote for people who try to make it happen for everyone. But let’s face reality, there are huge entrenched interests that oppose any kind of universal plan, so the ACA with all its flaws is probably the best we will get for quite some time. Even where I live, in California, with the legislature and all statewide elected offices under single-party control for years now, it hasn’t happened. The ACA was a deal with the devil to get more people insured, yeah, but insurance is no guarantee of health care. I’m glad I have the latter.

The “White Dudes for Harris” groups raised more than $4 million over a Zoom call that featured the likes of “The Dude” Jeff Bridges, *Star Wars *legend Mark Hamill, and Mark Ruffalo gabbing with Pritzker and a pre-VP pick Gov. Tim Walz.

Former President Donald Trump also has some groups trying to target various demographics, including a $20 million “Send the Vote” effort backed by podcast hosts the Nelk Boys and former Trump aide Taylor Budowich.

Mmhmm.

He’s the reason I switched to dry flake dishwasher soap. It makes so much sense! Why pay to ship what is mostly water? That’s the same reasoning (along with reducing waste from packaging) that I used to switch to SodaStream and kegs of beer. Bonus: I got an adapter for my SodaStream that allows me to run it off the kegerator CO2 cylinder, which is much cheaper than SodaStream’s own cylinder exchanges.

Either by linking to malware so you get infected if you click the ad, or by containing malware directly. Ads can contain code, making them almost like small applications that run when loaded.

He was in the Army National Guard, so would have received those benefits when activated, which he was for short periods aside from normal training requirements, but wouldn’t have as much as you’d think since he only was paid when training or activated. Also, contributions for uniformed service members began in 2001. Also also, it’s optional.
