I tried Beeper two weeks ago.

Performance was not great and I didn’t like the apps design that much but most importantly: this is not what I want. I want chat apps to be interoperable. I don’t want to be on WhatsApp and Signal and Matrix and yadayadayada. I want to be only on Matrix in the future. I hope the EUs DMA makes that happen.

Yes I use OSM almost exclusively and have contributed to it.

Where I live, in Germany, OSM is pretty much on the same level as Google Maps and way better than Apple Maps. Sometimes there is outdated info but you can quickly correct it. Sometimes I double check stuff with GM. Some information is even better than GM. But I think Germany has a pretty strong OSM community, at least in my city.

I use Organic Maps on iOS.

We should just make a PiracyMemes community.

I can recommend Anna‘s Archive and Standard Ebooks, both are great sources!

Awards. At least in Apollo you could hide them.

I wish this had some top picks or „GOAT“ list like the piracy megathread.

I’ve been to Iceland a few years ago. The tap water often had a strong smell of sulfur, especially in the capital, Reykjavik.

Maybe it’s still safe to drink, but the taste was not great. Even showering was not awesome.

I don’t think it does. You can’t delete any of the other apps and no one actually uses Matrix after all.

It might even do the opposite, where apps like WhatsApp can argue that they are now interoperable so they don’t have to change anything.

Emacs + Org mode + Org Roam

My server is still on 0.17.4 (I think due to major security issues with 0.18.0) and the experience is AWEFUL. I also do not want an app but a web interface. Wefwef seam promising.

Also Lemmy needs a lot more content. I hope it will come but I fear the future will be a lot more fragmented. Some of my subreddits moved to their own Discourse instances which are not federated unfortunately. Having to check 10 forums is really annoying.

c/shitposting

At this point, who even cares? Are there still people on Twitter? Just move on and use something else.

Twitter never was „the global town square!“

I don’t understand why Reddit would do this, but this definitely feels like most users would appreciate it. I always hated awards and premium. Hiding awards was the best feature in Apollo.

Can someone explain why everyone is attacking Reddit for this awesome, user friendly decision?

Kinda, the information is definitely not the same.

I don't like OpenSuse because when you install and administer it, you can feel it was made by Germans.

What does that mean?

From his own website?

Metric.

I know, but for Discourse instances, you get a notification for every single comment.

I wish it was only for new threads or even with a point threshold. That’s what I’m doing with HackerNews and I’m really happy with it.

It’s called shitposting.

Make an account on OSM, find something wrong on the map, update it.

Start with your commute or places you go. Check the information, I often find wrong opening hours. Maybe some constitution altered something. You’ll find something.

I would expect an „awesome-books“ list to not include every book ever written.

My recommendation is NetNewsWire. Looks like an app made by Apple themselves and it is open source.

Somewhere between Libertarian and Ancap. Still waiting for r/libertarianmeme to join Lemmy. But unfortunately, a lot of libertarians on Reddit seem to think that Reddit has the right to charge for the API. While I think this is true, I still think this makes the platform significantly worse.

Ok, could you give an example? I never used OpenSUSE, just curious.

Jokes on you, I don’t wear clothes.

PeerTube occasionally, but I watch only two channels that upload there.

There is also OpenSkiMap

Are the communities for skiing and especially backcountry yet?

This is the first answer that is close to the truth.

I was on libertarian subreddits and the sentiment there is that corporations can do what they want. They mostly don’t have a problem with the changes Reddit made.

I would still call myself libertarian or libertarian leaning, but this part I don’t understand. For me, libertarianism is all about having to freedom to do what you want. And I wanted to leave Reddit.

Isn’t Safari Gecko-based? Safari has a huge market share.

NIST is part of the US government, I don‘t know how trustworthy such a claim is. They profit a lot from people having bad passwords.

Die somebody have any problems with this site? I’m using it and so far I have not.

I even read that this is considered legal/gray area in some countries (I think France was mentioned).

I used Apple Music before and the experience is really bad. Before that I used Spotify which was way better but still not worth for how I am using it.
