Eh, I don't know that the Biden probe really hurts Dems that bad. So far i think it's just been a forum for Republicans to embarrass themselves.
On your #1, i feel like that train has kind of sailed already.
#2 is not obvious. You could definitely argue that desantis would win the gop primary. But it's no mean feat to unseat an incumbent president.
