There is also Calckey if you haven't tried it yet. It has a lots of useful features compared to mastodon. You can migrate everything to another instance very easily.

I don't know how it works on lemmy. But on Pixelfed after you successfully federate with Mastodon.social or any other instances. It will automatically start discovering new instances and federate with them.

I personally use You.com, Mojeek and Startpage. All of them are great 👍..

It uses NewPipe in the backend. Your requests will be proxied through the Piped server.
