I'm not very opinionated on guns tbh, but I do think this only makes it more difficult for poor people. I'm not sure I agree with that.

I'm sure some of them are idiots. I'm also sure there are some people who needed a car to work, catalytic converter went out and they needed to find the cheapest possible way to pass emissions and keep getting to work.

I know that because I'm about to drop a thousand or 2 on my catalytic converter, which I'll have to install myself to save money, to pass emissions. Luckily, I can budget well and every car repair known to man is on YouTube

This article is on Eurogamer.net and CD Projekt Red is Polish. I imagine that's why they pointed out "the country" being out of place

Yeah you definitely went to a marketing thing and got marketed to

I hate to say it, but even if somehow the top 1% or .1% disappeared, we'd probably stay on the same trajectory.

he bill, set to be introduced next month by state Sen. Dusty Deevers (R-Elgin), would prohibit consuming or producing sexual content that “lacks serious literary, artistic, educational, political, or scientific purposes or value” in any medium.

Deevers, a Baptist pastor who was elected last year to represent a rural district that includes the tiny cities of Comanche (population under 1,400) and Elgin (about 3,700),

So some backwater representative is proposing something that will never go anywhere. I bet stupid bills like this are proposed weekly.

Tbh I feel like this is a silly request.

The echo chamber era is thriving sadly.

I'd imagine help desk applicants

I dont know a physiological difference, but being around skateboarding for 25+ years... Males definitely had/have a higher ceiling

I would probably try to find an exit to the conversation if you hit me with either of the rock/tree or Israel/Palestine conversation if I'm being honest.

Fuck billionaires and all, but I think two things are wrong with this.

First, comparing hollywood to real life. They were making super yachts in the 1800s. El Mahrousa was built in 1865 and still in the top 10 in size.

But those megayachts sre super unnecessary and terrible for enviroment.

Secondly, times just generally changed. Poor people shifted a lot too. 1970s poor was a lot more poor than modern poor generally.

But we should still fix the system that fucks over thr majority.

Are you asking what it means? Large Language Model, if thats what you are asking. Its what people are usually talking about when they talk about AI.

It has no intellegence, but they can be impressive probability machines

South Harmon Institute of Technology though

I dont think that's the full story?

and in Houston, they'd been doing so outside Central Library downtown for roughly two decades. In 2012, the city passed a law against giving free meals to people in need without permission, but Mayor Annise Parker's administration gave permission to Food Not Bombs. That position was reversed by former Mayor Sylvester Turner.

Tbh, I didn't know Israel was known for cyber security. Guess I just think of a religious country with a big ass wall... but I'm not sure why I think of a wall. Could be World War Z

Eh I would rather have had a discussion, summary or explanation than read a 400 page book for a random interesting claim

Here's the book if anyone's curious

https://www.amazon.com/Three-Felonies-Day-Target-Innocent/dp/1594035229

I couldn't find any Techdirt articles with substance in the claim, but I'm not going to listen to podcasts so maybe thats where any details of the claim are hidden

That was a fun read with some interesting facts I never knew... But I think you put some weird spins into it.

Like I don't think Americans are commiting 3 felonies a day, and I'd really be curious about the explanation of that.

And I dont think lying about your age is applicable to the CFAA without some wild lawyering to consider it impersonating someone else to gain unauthorized access to protected data.

But maybe I suck at understanding legal writing

https://www.justice.gov/jm/jm-9-48000-computer-fraud

Thus, embellishing an online dating profile contrary to the terms of service of the dating website; creating fictional accounts on hiring, housing, or rental websites; or using a pseudonym on a social networking site that prohibits them, might all violate a user’s contract with the owner of the protected computer, but the Department will not take the position that a mere contractual violation caused the user’s previous authorization to be automatically withdrawn and that the user was from that point onward acting in violation of the CFAA

I think this is a decent defense of CFAA not worrying about lying about age

Giving servers the ability to delete each others shit would be interesting to watch when an online war breaks out

It's plausible that some of the websites you like run faster because ISPs aren't throttling them, while throttling the competition.

Dumbass bills are introduced all the time. The news likes to bring them up but never talks about most of them being shot down though.

The main point of the comment seems to be that his mother, who represents a demographic, would have trouble removing an OS from a machine replacing it with Linux.

I am really convinced there is a Kagi marketing department dedicated to Lemmy. But if it really works that much better for you, that's great.

But I wouldnt only bank on the logic "the fact that it’s paid, I don’t have to worry about how they are monetizing my data". A lot of paid services still try to find ways for more money

Just guessing, but that shouldn't be surprising. I'd imagine the most opinionated people are the ones who took offense to Reddits changes and bailed out for those reasons. And now those opinionated people saturate the comments.

Not every case of course. Like RIF died for me, and I just decided I wasn't really enjoying Reddit and should try somewhere else. That's probably a decent chunk of people here as well. I feel like those have a higher probability of just reading and not commenting though

There are a lot of Mexican neighborhoods with a lot of authentic Mexican food in America.

Dont get me wrong, there is a lot of Americanized Mexican food. But I'd bet for every Qdoba/El Rancho, there is a local family Mexican restaurant with an old guy watching Mexican soap operas.

Did Alex Jones ever hold a broadcast license for the fairness doctorine to be applicable?

Pretty sure he got popped a few years ago for his pirate radio. And then got popped with the biggest defamation fine ever.

I think that is an extremely unlikely scenario. Do you think modern technology is just going to disappear?

I actually agree with what you are saying, but I don't believe it's so black and white. I also believe the media realized the profits in outrage and terror so that's why we are constantly hammered with it.. which is likely a contributing factor in mental health issues of the country/world.

Columbine was one of the biggest ones ever at the time and a media field day, but definitely not the only school shootings around that time.

Twice I've had to find people I know heatstroking out on trails in the mountains. I found them due to dropping pins and being able to follow the trails they've followed on Strava or Google Maps or whatever.

They probably would have went up there without trails being on Google maps, but I probably would have been bushwhacking to find them if I couldn't see the trail networks to know where they went.

I vote against removing trail maps. Hurts the good just as much, or more, than it tries to mitigate the bad.

I'd imagine figuring out that "more to it" is the big leap that would satisfy the "LLM is not AI" people. Probability plays a lot into our decision making, but there is a lot more going on in our brains than that.

I'm still hoping that Neal Stephenson was right that they are also quantum connectors to every other versions of our brains through dimensions. That'd be cool

A jeep is definitely a SUV

Its not a conspiracy... You are obviously not involved in the actual ML/AI, but another sector. You aren't speaking in any technical explaination.

A lot of us are involved in the technical aspect and understand what is being said by management.

My Ford Taurus isn't going to get into the Uintas or Wasatch range. Getting rid of my SUV will really hurt my wifes ability to release rehabilitated animals.

But, I don't want to be a stupid fucker. What should I get after I get rid of my SUV?

Seems like I hear about Russia/Ukraine about the same..sounds like those ATACMS missiles(idk what they are though) were pretty effective and important. It's on most front pages.

And in cases like these, I don't think public opinion is that important? Imagine Japan being like, "yeah, China is doing stuff we disagree with in disputed territory, but people are really focused on Israel/Palestine and Russia/Ukraine... let's just leave China alone out there, public's not paying attention anyway."

But this is also an article about Massachusetts...

Yeah, when I talk to people about politics, mainly online, it seems like everyone is reciting things theyv heard/read without critical thinking.

Giving all the power to people that line up with your beliefs in office sounds nice, until they ban abortions and have gun classes for kindergarteners next election.

We need checks and balances to work, and local => state => federal is a real important part of that. I 100% believe we should be taking as much power back from the federal government as possible, while still staying the United States. They hoarded power and turned that shit into a reality show
