hey everyone a friendly reminder that alternatives exist, and just drop this shit fast and move to better alternatives. In this case firefox.

seems counter intuitive.. each incognito window should be separated into their containers.

seems like a good idea to take that container addon and apply that to incognito.

Yes. I plan on using lemmy over reddit from now on. There are enough similar communities here. I'll have to keep using reddit if i'm searching for something and it comes up, but i don't plan on actively using reddit anymore. They showed their true colours: a company's whole business model built around collecting and displaying user content and then has the nerve to pull that they did on 3rd party developers?

They didn't want app competition because they needed to serve ads in their app.

Awesome. This is great news. I just joined this instance and happy to see this position.

For sure, I agree and it's bad. But frankly unsurprising. This is the trajectory of the internet: greater control.

We've become too dependent on centralized tech companies and erred in allowing tech companies to change, define, and control the internet in the first place.

Alternatives must be promoted in mass scale.

Quit work and start a new hobby to spend serious time in. Not sure what that would be.

it will truly be messed up if essential websites block user access because of this

unexpected heroes what a plot twist

welcome. you'll love it

Give it time.

for work purposes, ok fine. but personal purposes i'd try and steer clear as much as i can.

My general point is we should use alternatives whenever possible to discourage this kind of centralized power developing in the first place.

nostalgia, yes. but nicer pastures elsewhere now, time to move along.

I'm pretty much new to lemmy so i don't even know how communities are made

Strongbox for ios works with keepass formats.

I agree, affinity programs are really good and i'd rather see those on linux

i just searched and it looks like there's already one on an instance

honestly i don't know what you did to mess up a windows install like that, but i agree overall that linux is easier. However there are quirks that can arise for a new user that will eat time or seem daunting.

Same here. The switch is much more enjoyable.

Exactly. Reddit was once new compared to their competition, stumbleupon or digg. This time why not opt for the Foss alternative.

good stuff, glad to see this opposition.

Also slightly related, but I'd absolutely hate if I were an employee having to work on this project and having my name attached to this. Quite embarrassing for all those involved.
