if its not lemmy it should at least be ActivityPub compliant so users can make the decision how to follow, participate

I saw this in my feed and I thought it was a sponsored ad and then I remembered I was on lemmy

If you aren't already on a list, you are doing it wrong ;-)

Dude don't posts screen shots. i kept trying to press back on your image.

I don't know mate. I studied Political Science and Outdoor Recreation when I was in university, and when I got out I jumped from non-profit to non-profit making a difference and doing what I loved, all while needing to work 1 or more additional jobs to pay my bills, eventually taking a call center job instead, that taught me technical skills that allow me to now make good money in a corporate environment, which allows me to finally have enough free time to do what I actually want to do and enough money to donate to causes I care about.

I really don't understand how this works under the one China policy.

The biggest problem is my ADHD, if I pick up my cell phone during the work day, its near impossible for me to get anything else done that day, because the internet exists. It probably makes me an asshole, but she's been married to an asshole for 15 years.

Not sure why you'd want to do that, but it certainly makes more sense.

/u/AbouBenAdhem@lemmy.world I am pleasantly surprised that Simpson is the name of a mathematician and not some pop-science based on Homer & Bart.

better pictures on the ghost-archive link above

Thanks! I corrected the link the description

that's interesting. Certainly there would have to be false positives. That's gotta be hella difficult reputations of smaller websites.

Yeah the North American higher education industrial complex is a scam. To the point that a lot of the better paying jobs (doctor, nurse, etc.) include having requirements to pay the school to work for a time without getting paid AND they forbid you from having an additional job at the same time, it sure seems to me like they are trying to make sure that "lower class" people never get in those kinds of jobs. Unless your parents are rich, you aren't going to be able to do that.

grrr...why so many podcoasts these days? One of the things I appreciate about NPR & misses.org is they, eventually, post full transcripts of their podcasts online. (Either they have really good speech to text technology, or it scurinizetley edited by humans.)

lemmy.ca

Thanks man I'll give it a try.

and I have one without a STEM degree. And I'm personally amazed how many of my engineering colleagues who have, often advanced, degrees who seem absolutely clueless.

I haven't used it in a lng time, but my recollection was when making/recieving a call using Google Voice you just press 4 and recording starfs with THIS CALL IS NOW BEING RECORDED

I don't think minimum wage is intended to be enough to live on. If you start working as a teenager by the time you have to pay your living expenses it would be quite doubtful that you are still making minimum wage.

Then again, as they say, your milage may vary. In my part of the world there might as well be no minimum wage as even the most entry level positions are offering nearly double the minimum wage.

I don't understand how anyone can choose to watch 4K. maybe I'm just so cheap I tell myself I can not tell the difference, but anything higher than 480P just feels like overkill to sell more bandwidth and overpriced hardware.

already exists. https://old.lemmy.ca I was surprised to learn how many different front ends my instance already had. I'm not sure what it takes to get it integrated on your instance

Clearly we need personal owned nukes.

I just downloaded it. Clearly its designed for those dating rather than married, as it supports triggers basef on connecting/disconnecting from work wifi, home wifi, and girlfriend's wifi, and I work from home so those are all the same thing, so I only get the one trigger based on a hard time of day, but I really like the idea, so I will try it put. I also like the girlfriend mode that if you put in the wrong PIN it will show you a page of suggested romantic gifts to buy your loved one.

I will also check out using tskmgr as someone else recommended. I realized that since I usually use Google voice, rather than my mobile number, to text her (so that when i lose my phone I can still do it from the web browser, so she might not appreciate this via traditional SMS, she had had similar complaints when I have tried yo use Scout or Glympse so she could track my location on the way home that it was sent from my mobile rather than Voice number, but we'll see)

I really hope some of these are working on ensuring compatibility with both lemmy and kbin platforms. I expected they'd just work, because ActivityPub, as I assumed the backends where more alike than similar, but since kbin.social accounts don't seem to be able to login, I suspect there will be more work necessary than this end user thought.

:-) If I find something that works, I will see what I can do LOL! Broapp seems cool but would bot really work for sending to yourself. (nor do I want my personal phone sending SMS messages to some random Person on the internet)

why? She still receives what she wants, and I can stay focused on my work, sounds like a win-win to me.

Uhm, no because only the mentally ill wants to die, and most people don't want to kill anyone else

same thing I saw

I know T-Mobile bought Sprint, which came with their CDMA infastrcture, but I assume they are phasing all of that out to switch to GSM fulling. As long as it isn't carrier locked, which I would find unexpected, it should work. Maybe not all of the bands supported by the phone, or all the bands supported by AT&T may work, so you may have slightly less coverage than you otherwise would, but that's all I can fathom.

LOL! "explaing the facts so she can accept them" how long have you been married?

It doesn't change the story and there is no need to put that in my OP, this kind of stuff has no reason being in an adroid forum.

then set up your own instance

its not a Fetish, its common sense. Do you know where you are? An opem source, self-hosted free and federated network is going to confront freedom denying closed source proprietary surveillance capitalist software head on.

surprised this wasn't a lemmygrad user

No way man, I was on identi.ca

all I was saying that I've probably been on the 'verse longer than the feds

Why discord, as opposed to Matrix, Telegram, or XMPP/Jabber? I'm pretty sure you can set up a bridge to an existing discord server if you really need to, though I'd recommend against using closed source non-free software whenever possible.

Oh to be young again...

I think we have different ideas of what "no cost" means, unless I'm incorrect and that university professors and support staff in Europe are volunteers.

You sure sound like someone from the marketing department of a university. Making college "free" would need a heck of a lot of other changes to go along with it, or we will only have even more educated idiots than we do now.

luckily for you all there is no where worth driving in Europe.
