Assuming you can even win the bidding war to buy a house right now. Nothing worse than seeing a house you failed to buy have a For Lease sign on it the next week.

On Wednesday, Maine’s legislature passed a bill joining a compact to commit all of their electoral votes, regardless of who won in their individual state, to whichever candidate won the national popular vote.

The manufacturer can save money by not including grills and if the speaker gets damaged they will make more money when you buy a replacement speaker.

Might I recommend a book on the matter.

They could be fined a small amount for cutting down the trees and then include a provision that the trees must be replaced with trees of the same size. If they were large trees, then that could get super expensive very quickly. There was a story about tree law on Reddit where someone cut down 32 trees on their neighbor’s property and were charged $1k each plus the cost of replanting, it ended up just shy of $2M.

I’ve thought about installing one as well after reading this: https://bert.org/2022/06/02/payphone/

It’s a shame that Mythbusters isn’t around to turn this into a shark week special. I’m pretty sure the myth would be busted and the only risk would be of the batteries catching fire after the shark bites one.

If anyone wants more detail. The 2021/2022 capital expenditures for the British Museum totaled just over £25M. The digitization will take at least 5 years. So at worst a 10% increase per year in capital expenditures for them.

Modular ports would be great. I’d love to have two USB ports on a phone rather than a USB and headphone jack.

There were fighter pilots from 3 nations escorting a B52 on Sunday. The articles I can find for the Tuesday flight do not mention any fighter escorts.

Most developed Western countries set the retirement age around the age of 65; this is also generally considered to mark the transition from middle to old age. Reaching this age is commonly a requirement to become eligible for senior social programs.

You may get more bang for your buck by getting a comparable mini PC rather than a NUC. Some ThinkCentre Tiny machines are listed on eBay for less than $100 USD. HP and other manufacturers sell their own versions as well.

There was a programming search engine called Symbol Hound that allowed for searching for special symbols like << and &&. It was my fallback search engine while programming if I couldn’t find something on the first page of Google. Sadly, that site appears to have disappeared. Does this search engine have optional support for special characters?

RCS was a dumpster fire for years. Only in the past couple of years has Google stepped up to be the centralized force in making it work as envisioned.

quick edit to say I agree this could’ve been avoided if Apple had made iMessage for Android, but I just wanted to point out the blame is shared by poor implementation across the board.

Google’s RCS service is unique in that it is not telecom based. I would advise looking at the RCS Wikipedia article here.

Flushable means it can travel down a clean pipe. Once it encounters an obstacle it will snag and sit there until it breaks down or catches more debris. If it catches fat particles then it will never break down and will create what is called a fatberg which will restrict flow.

New products come out everyday. To test them, you could try putting the wipes in a jar filled with water and toilet paper. See what survives when you shake it up. Maybe add a bit of oil as well to see if that changes the result.
