Like many others here, travel. I would also like to get into gardening and become a better cook.
Companies are, and always have been greedy, that's the point of their existence. They didn't decide one day to become greedy. They will always maximize profits, always. You should more blame inflation than anything, it's by far more damaging to your spending power and savings than anything else.
You want me to compare a country to a continent, which contains several different governments?

The US system has it's problems, obviously, but it also has the best treatments in the world. People come from all over to get treatment in the US.
Money is a great motivator for "big pharma" to develop treatments.
The government (in any form, city, town, etc) shouldn't erect statues or monuments.
Healthcare is one of the heaviest regulated industries in the US. Less regulations would be better-you could go to a store, see a menu board and order an MRI with upfront pricing.
That'll happen as long as people keep buying them.
