Just your age ol' ex-Reddit lurker... who also likes nuggets :)

Often... I have sometimes spent hours trying to photoshop faces of my mates (with permission) on random objects or random scenarios, like a cat or kettle, trying to make it look as normal as my skills allow for a 1-off joke.

I would love this so much right now...

A little before I started using Reddit, my mate who told me about it said upvoting was used as a means of promoting posts or replies that people may be interested in, not because you like or dislike a post or reply.

I think Facebook has changed that and I will admit I will thumbs up a post/reply because I like it, but I will also upvote posts I think other users may be interested in.

I wish I knew, they don't seem to know what happened either, unfortunately.

You have more faith in me than I do xD

Appreciate the kind words

I don't know why, but this whole interaction made me feel nice and tingly inside and I wanted to point out how civil and nice everyone has been :) (mostly xD)

This was my thought process as well.

I did consider whether making good art could help fund other global issues, but I think there's too many variables. Whereas being able to make it rain would have an arguably more immediate impact.

Can we also control when to turn it off? xD

Thanks for reminding me about this!

We used to use that method for the company I was working for. We would setup laptops in advance and they were in the early process of setting up intune. Since we didn't have a user account, we'd use your method to continue setup to get to the desktop.

I think we'd then run commands in pwershell to have the machine appear on intune.

It was a good few years ago and it was a very annoying, arduous time. They worked out the kinks eventually and that was no longer required.

Sausages

I'm thankful our HR gave us notice when I was in Desktop Support.

The rare occasion we received short notice from HR or the general exec of our tech division was due to an immediate termination, and that was usually due to people not passing probation, or for egregious behaviour like sending 100s of GB to their personal email after they resigned and we're in their notice period.

Or we once had a guy who was completely off the rails... we don't know what happened exactly, but a user called up and he was having a manic episode and was convinced someone hacked his account/phone and was listening to him.

We raised it as a concern and a few weeks (maybe a month or so later) we were asked to terminate his account.

I heard he had stopped taking his meds. Hope he's alright now... he was a nice fellow usually.

I can see where you're coming from and I agree at times it feels like it's being used for the marketing since it's easier to say, using the article as an example, "Bullfrog-like". They could have taken an extra moment to be a bit more descriptive, such as with your example, and say “Management Sim inspired by Theme Hospital/Bullfrog”, for people who may not be familiar with "Theme Hospital" or a Bullfrog game.

Just to circle back to your initial comment, "I got to the word “Bullfroglike” and stopped reading", I can definitely see where you are coming from, but I did disagree with your approach.

I also just wanted to add that I hope this isn't taken as an attack upon yourself.

I do like the alliteration for "Boomer Shooter" but I don't think it's the right demographic xD. I think it's still somewhat common, but I also don't think it's as mainstream as say your Battlefield or CoD.

RetroSlayer FPS? I have no idea, lol

I 2nd this. I was playing CS 1.6 around that age. Although lootboxes weren't a thing back then and you could download and use your own skins from sites like gamebanana and have custom sprays...

Sometimes, I miss the older days. Just with better internet.

I was hoping to see a comment like this. You did not disappoint.

I know that was probably meant positively. But that's not how I read it initially, lol

I had to read it a few times first...

I got to play in snow for the first time the other day. It was fantastic :)

(Early 30's)

I have sunk a lot of time i to Baldurs Gate 3 over the last couple of weeks.

Man, what a game.

I think it might be the best RPG I've ever played. But I'm struggling to place it amongst others I grew up playing, like Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, SWKotOR...

I like the idea to counteract the grogginess of the sleeping tablet, but I lack the knowledge to know if that would work.

I'm guessing it would have been digested by then, right?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try there!

Thank you for your service

The Finals is a nice arcade-y feeling FPS.

I don't feel like I'm very good with it either, but I still enjoy it. It's a strange feeling, lol

I've also been meaning to get back into Minecraft...

Yeah, it's definitely shifted that way. I just use them both interchangeably.

In all fairness, I only know them as subs mainly because of Subway. Before that, I probably would have considered it a roll.

But I am Australian

I do take your point and it's a fair criticism. It can almost feel like a marketing ploy to piggyback off of the popularity of another game, such as Stardew Valley-like, considering a lot of the time those games have since developed a genre, like for FPS instead of Doom-like.

I would also add, though, that using Doom-like/Doom-lite would still be appropriate to define games that are closer to a Doom type game than your CoD or Counter Strike. You could make a similar argument for the style of play Stardew Valley offers compared to literally Farming Simulator 20XX.

But you could also argue it gives the reader/consumer a quicker understanding of what to expect from the game. Especially in the case of this article where there isn't a way to clearly define/ label what to excpet from the game.

I have this same issue as well.

I just don't feel like I have anything insightful or meaningful to say.

But, I feel like I should in the community I mainly frequent since it's really quiet a lot and the main mod feels like the only person keeping things ticking along.

Pretty big oopsie, lol

I think it was our lack of coordination...
