Industry groups argued that those museums didn’t have “appropriate safeguards” to prevent users from distributing the games once they had them in hand.

So libraries are also illegal? Books, DVDs, VHS, CDS, etc. You can replace games with any of those.

Won't this kill Firefox? As far as I understand Google is providing a lot of funding with the default search engine agreement.

It became what it is currently the Steam Deck OS or at least the lessons learned were applied to create it. That being said you have distros like Bazzite and Pop OS focused on gaming, you could try those.

I recently deleted my Windows partition and went full Linux for my personal devices. I use Windows for work and it reminds me that I made the right decision.

I use Arch btw

Ha! Of course we will see this as a reduction in price, right?... Tim Apple?... Are you there?...

I agree with you and I think he was more baffled about trying to pay than the tax itself. Which it is a very real problem in Germany for foreigners. Everything is too local if you don't have EC Karte you cannot pay. But that the baffling part, if you are a Customs office you need to accept ANY kind of payment, specifically something as standard as a Credit Card.

This will just create new competition for them. I have been watching anime for several years and never once had to go through opensubtitles. Most releases now have the subtitles integrated so what is the value they bring to the whole thing?

Microsoft is getting a bad rep because they don't want to let the Series S go. They are not handling these problems very well. The Series X should be the "cheap" platform and they should have a "Pro", called Series XS (pronounced excess, you are welcome Microsoft), so they are the platform that people want and not the platform that's holding back games.

That's an interesting case to analyze, following the money for those campaigns might be dangerous. Just a few days ago the US sent notes to several countries regarding external influences on elections.

Additionally, many european countries are literally getting old. The birth rate has been dropping for a while.

There is always a risk using libraries from others. If you install something without knowing what you are doing and without considering the risks, you should not be installing it.

I think you have gotten a lot of good answers so my 2 cents are. Install something simple like Ubuntu and try it out. Getting the answers to your questions will not give you the "feel" of using a linux system. Once you start you will begin to have more answers and a lot more questions, specifically in the areas you are interested in.

Also check the Arch wiki, it is really good for any distro because it gives a good reference for configurations.

I disagree in this case, he tried to pay and he had to hunt down 2 different ATMs because the Customs office couldn't accept his credit card.

Is that you?, Crowdstrike?

Agree, I own a lot of games in Steam but most come from bundles or were not bought a full price. I do buy full price games on GOG because I can have a backup offline.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
