It feels old, theres weird bugs like the UI flashing light mode on refresh, and other problems that make a user go “ick”.

No one told ya?

kbin. This is a very early beta.

Corporations with billions in sales operate capitalist arbitrariness? 😎

Volunteer developers who earn less than the minimum wage in donations and still haven't eliminated bugs after a week? 😡

In Germany we have the co-op-based Fairmondo who have plans to expand. Feel free to get in touch with them.

We know that the advertisers and investors aren’t going to reverse course, which means Advance isn’t going to change, and that means Spez is going to keep going

He can do it, let him do it. But why should his members take on the volunteer work of keeping his project running again? Let him set up a paid staff to run the community in an authoritarian manner.

It's not our business if his project might be in little trouble.

Congratulations!

It the other way around: kbin.social explicitly does not allow indexing by search engines. If DuckDuckGo ignores this default, the fault is basically not with Google.

What they want is moderation. Unlike microblogging where you post to your followers, I think that running a public debate platform like Lemmy without controlling who enters is a horrible idea. That's why they posted a statement with the clarification that this defederation need not be permanent.

it should be more accessible and more usable natively

Basically I'm really on your side, with Mastodon I'm also one of those complainers who try to get the developers in a direction that stimulates newcomers and does not deter them.

But in this place? I'm at this place for 2 years now. It's been an exile here until 2 weeks ago for a triple-digit number of marxists and shitposters no CEO want to see on their platforms. Developed by 2 enthusiastic, equally radicals in their spare time. And now thousands and thousands come in a week and make claims.

Let me tell you something: When suddenly the rush came on Mastodon, a lot of damn dedicated people got to work in a few weeks. I take my hat off to what they've done with Elk for beginners and hockey moms. Now, developers not only of Reddit apps have also already declared to be at work. This isn't about a nice essay.

All this crap is now going on a week before the world public. How about keeping your feet still for once?

We don’t need no “moderation”, we don’t need no thought control.

If you don't want it, that's absolutely fine - you just have to respect that others don't share that opinion and cut the line since it's hard to find a shared Fediverse of opposite ideas. Unmoderated instances have always been seperated in Fediverse-microblogging and I really don't see why history shouldn't repeat in this case.

Karma exists, it's just hidden yet in Lemmys interface, but available via API. Kbin tells it to it's users.

I'm not on beehaw, I've never been - and I'm almost fine, where I am 😉 🍁

Right click on Fediverse, copy link, paste it in the kbin search and it should appear.

For a permanent redirection, try https://greasyfork.org/scripts/468824-lemmy-kbin-redir

They'll ban mods who NSFW their subs.

I only see disadvantages in doing that separately. What's wrong with posting it over there?

is that really a horrible idea as you say

This is not a question of fact, but of opinion. And yes: I've never been significantly active on Reddit, all the notifications I get there are spam porn accounts that follow me in.

To me, open signups seem wrong for a volunteer moderated service.
