Being neurodivergent does that to you

Interestingly enough that game got improved with patches. Seems to be the norm with games these days

Reducing people from third world countries to "language models" as an attempt to critique AI aint it

When people misinterpret The Boys and form a fandom based on their false assumptions, I'm not surprised anymore

TechCrunch: this is nightmare fuel

engadget: it's so cute :)

Accounts created to give unsolicited promotions exist though. It's especially common for AI products

This was mentioned in the Discussion part of their paper:

The activity of facial muscles involved in forming expressions such as smiles is closely linked to the development of wrinkles. One significant next step in this research is to leverage this model to enhance our understanding of the mechanisms underlying wrinkle formation. Moreover, applying this knowledge to recreate such expressions on a chip could find applications in the cosmetics industry and the orthopedic surgery industry. Additionally, this study performed actuation on a dermis equivalent by controlling mechanical actuators positioned beneath the dermis equivalent. Substituting this mechanical actuator with cultured muscle tissue presents an intriguing prospect in the realization of a higher degree of biomimetics. Examining the correlation between facial muscle contractions and resulting facial expression can offer insights into the physiological aspects of emotion, leading to new exploration in the treatment of diseases, such as facial paralysis surgery.

A problem that I see getting brought up is that generated AI images makes it harder to notice photos of actual victims, making it harder to locate and save them

As far as I know, Apple's implementation of LLMs is completely opt-in

What about volunteering groups? I'm in my 20s but volunteering groups tend to have people on the older side. It helps that people in their 40s and over tend to be financially stable and would spend their free time to volunteer.

Honestly apps like Threads and Twitter should just be a containment site for these types of people. Let them be...

Not to mention that it's hard to intuitively watch longterm videos on TikTok. Once you swipe a video, it's gone, unless you save it on favorites, and it's not easy to get back to the video, either. At least on YouTube, it's easier to go back to the paused video from the homepage.

Does anyone else think that NFTs are an allegory/miniature version of how art is easily commodified by capitalism? IIRC, NFTs were there to help finance artists who work on a purely digital medium, but then grifters coopted the NFT space and try to sell sets of same-looking artwork. Complete with "fandoms" and drama, as well.

Based on the discussion that I've seen, it looks like the "Anti-AI" motive was an excuse since all the hack was doing was to steal API keys and potentially sell them. Here's a discussion thread on reddit that goes into this more.

Apparently people who specialize in AI/ML have a very hard time trying to replicate the desired results when training models with 'poisoned' data. Is that true?

This will definitely make customers less trustful of Microsoft when dealing with their privacy-focused AI projects. Here's to hoping that open-source LLMs become more advanced and optimized.

True. As a kid I'd fall for scams all the time, constantly downloading malware that would crash the family computer.

Is this just some media manipulation to give a bad name on AI by connecting them with Nazis despite that it's not just them benefiting from AI?

What We Do in the Shadows (the movie, not the series). For something more obscure, An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn. Yes, both feature Jemaine Clement

Not to buy a game's merchandise from the other side of the world (shipping price was around the same price if not more expensive than the product itself)

Usually a (competent) doctor knows you physically through examinations. It's very personalized so I can see the justification

Which is why fighting for policy changes is important. One of the only things that can stop companies are government regulations

I hope they can at least get compensated.

I was in a contemporary fine art market and I just hear visitors mentioning about owning a hotel in such a casual way, like how one would talk about owning a car.

Thinking about it, perhaps GRRM should've used AI as a sounding board in order to get his book finished much sooner.

I live in a country with multiple problems right now, but I've grown to be aware that the more I actively look at negative commentary on the current situation (most are online given anonymity), the more I get into panic mode, which clouds my longterm thinking of trying to get into a better situation (whether it's self-soothing, changing state policies by any measure, relocation, etc)

India's government has been authoritarian lately, given their alleged request to remove tweets that are critical of them from Twitter, so this is worrying.

This could be a good starting point. It seems that in China, red represents fire, and fire back then was like electricity today. As for India, I've found this article which says that red symbolizes the Hindu goddess Durga for her feminine power and new beginnings (which may or may not be because of menstrual or postpartum bleeding)

This sounds like a very specific question and you should ask an India-specific lemmy community (and before you ask, I'm not Indian despite my username)

Three hours and no answers only one answer, which is understandable. Many of these people don't have access to certain technology because of their economic situation, and even when they do, their voices are so small that they get overshadowed by the majority. I'm not of a dying culture, but I am aware of the many tribes in Papua and how they're vulnerable from Indonesia's interference. While many of the Papuan tribes aren't dying per se, it's very difficult to get online opinions from (indigenous) Papuans in regards to whether their land is colonized by Indonesians, let alone from tribes that are dying.

I'm autistic so perhaps I'm more tolerant to repetitive content. I tend to follow reaction and commentary channels because they sorta help me navigate through social situations, and I consider them to be the judges of the situations, especially when they're well trusted. Being comedic is a bonus.

Much of Indonesia outside of Bali. They have the "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign yet I don't see that many international tourists here. The fact that most non-Indonesians don't know what Indonesia is and how they think Bali is its own country is a clear indicator.

I remember the last time this got brought up and I complained about my thumb not being able to reach the other side of the iphone 3 mini. Well, I tried the Samsung Z Fold the other day and I really like how narrow it is to the point where my thumb can effortly reach the other side when the phone is folded. Perhaps I'll get that phone in the future when my current iPhone 13 mini dies. At the same time, I do enjoy my Apple Watch though and I appreciate the longetivity of the iPhone compared to other brands.

Yep. It's either "embrace the future, adapt or die" or "let's put the technological genie back in the bottle". No actual nuance.

Especially when you have a short stature

As someone with tiny hands and tiny fingers, I've been thinking long and hard about this and in the future, when my 13 mini lets out its last breath, I'll probably just go with a regular-sized iPhone and use Voice Control to swipe right and "go back" when I use it one-handed, since reachability doesn't address how I struggle to reach the far end of the screen with one-hand (I even have to struggle a bit with the mini). Sucks that I'll have to use voice control as a workaround, but I mostly bought an iPhone for the Apple Watch anyway.
