Wow, that does sound political!

Again, I'm not at all talking about additives to municipal water. That's clearly good. Just since my houses don't have it I'm curious if there's a missed opportunity for better.

Seems like "yes but small" given already using fluoridated toothpaste

I think people hate vegans more than veganism. The most annoying x% makes the other (100-x)% look bad

Choose your own x I don't want dunks from either side lol

No I was mostly thinking of oral intake

I don't consider them social media.

Virtually nothing on it is about the poster, and that's mostly how I see social media. Even more baffling is people calling YouTube social media.

Two important caveats though.

  1. maybe r/JohnQSmith type things are prevalent just not in my experience. There's plenty of content I've never seen.

  2. The descriptivists won the day, so language is about what people do say not what people should say. If people call it that and the dictionary or whatever says something different, the speakers aren't wrong. The dictionary is wrong.

According to South Park - Jared Has Aides, it's 22.3 years.

You're fine

The game?

This is definitely a thing. I mentioned no cavities, but I have had some "slight decalcification we might want to address before it gets worse" that then got better on their own.

Reads like a shibboleth to me

I see insufficient evidence that you are in fact the harbinger of death and destruction by your mere presence

Thanks. I'll definitely be asking my dentist just a while until my next appointment

Thanks. The fluoride in the water itself is not directly relevant because I just don't have it, but good evidence to raise the topic with my dentist as an adult. I definitely use fluoridated toothpaste.

The game?

Yeah, I think that's why my dentist gave me fluoride treatments as a child. Have you gotten any as an adult?

Sorry, you misunderstand. I don't rely on a municipal well, and adding fluoride to private wells isn't a thing AFAIK.

That's why as a child I had fluoride treatments. It would have been easier to just get it in the water, but tradeoffs. My kids get them too.

I was wondering about the fluoride treatments being child only or whether there were adult benefits.

I would think so. I use fluoridated toothpaste, and another commenter recommended fluoridated mouthwash.

Seems like the answer is yes and I'll be discussing it with my dentist.

Every time except one

Fwiw I like car sourced public music

Yes I make sure mine does

I'm Perd Hapley, and this, is a thing I'm saying.

Thanks

Fluoridated water just isn't an option for me but I can ask my dentist about options beyond fluoridated toothpaste and mouthwash.

Modern Wisdom

Yeah, the money isn't a thing for me. My houses are in parts of NY that just don't have municipal wells, so there's no reason to feel one way or the other about it. It just is what it is.

Yeah, it seems like complaining about government provided WiFi.

"What if I don't WANT my kids on the internet dangit!?"

I don't have the ppm memorized, but it was like tenth percentile

I've thought about this. Have the "Agriculture was a trap!" people ever designed like a hunter gatherer Eden? Like not historical reenactment. We have tech be a human and use it. But like buy a few hundred acres and plant a shitload of fruit trees with modern fertilizer, use GPS to navigate it, live in a badass modern tent...

Not for me, but those people seriously seem to have the option right there

In that case always remember I love and support you. Shoot the other guy not me :)

Stay at home dad

Fuck yes

Not really. Since it isn't in my well no matter what I do, the effects of fluoride in water aren't relevant to my question.

But the consensus in the comments is that fluoride in my toothpaste and maybe mouthwash is sufficient, and having fluoride treatments as a child but not as an adult makes sense.

Thanks.

I hadn't thought of a fluoridated mouthwash but that looks obvious in hindsight.

How long did you take fluoride pills, as an adult or only as a child?

Thanks! I'll talk to my dentist about it at my next appointment.

Its rare I see an old new-to-me XKCD that's that good.

Oddly apropos

Makes sense. Even if its a thing I'd probably not keep up on it. My house filters have gotten embarrassingly full in my time

Haha Democrats

We're WMP Republicans are GOP. Probably stands for something but just shorthand

2 more...

Fair. I didn't invent them. I could backronym them maybe. Grumpy Old Party and Workers Matter Party?

Haha yeah, good bit.

I just wanted to be clear that just because we're both going to deny the election results if we lose doesn't mean we're at all similar in other regards.

Sorry if I was a little defensive. Lot of "BWAH I DONT LIKE THIS" in the comments but zero "Actually I think we'll just say 'Well done Donnie, enjoy being president. See you in four years.'. Not even "Well if HE wins then it actually WILL have been rigged so of course we'll call it that.". All " boo" no content

Heh, fair. I do think 9999/10,000 is about right but I don't know you enough to trust you enough to make odds.

Tell you what. One sided free money bet. If you claim WMP will just say "Well, guess we lost this one" and not say the race was rigged (is this your claim? You still haven't claimed it yet I think) I'll come back in November with a post titled "CoggyMcFee I'm Calling You Out!" linking this post.

If Biden wins, so much the better for the world. If GOP doesn't accept it we're both winners, no trade. If GOP accepts it we're both losers, no trade.

If Trump wins, God help us, and WMP just says "Congratulations, hope we win next time" I'll give $500 to your favorite charity, or half that to anyone I can't write off, yourself included.

If Trump wins and WMP says the election was rigged, well, you haven't agreed to anything and owe me nothing. If you feel honor bound, my charity is OSI the Open Space Institute.

If I forget call my ass out. If Trump wins frankly we have bigger problems but I'll pay.

Fair point. Some things are unacceptable and those things... well... shouldn't be accepted.

Not sure "lecturing" is accurate but sure, I'll allow it.

For the record, is it your claim that if Trump wins, we will just accept it as the results of a free and fair election? Just "Welp, guess the voters were in your favor this time Donnie. Good game. We'll try to bring it in four years!" right?

Also for the record we agree that Trump could get no states and 30% of the popular vote and still say it was fixed and he should have won right? Honestly that's the result I predict most likely so the experiment will likely be of no value. Just saying.
