Irony?

Since Musk is allegedly about “free speech” - but obviously only if it suits him and your handle isn’t something he wants…

I am an Aerospace Engineer (I was an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer by trade prior to going to University) and I have spent the last 30 years in the airline industry….it isn’t as bad as you are allegedly making it out to be….pilots are not engineers either…..

Experience from the 60’s and 70’s isn’t really relevant to today’s industry- I started in the early 90’s and it’s massively different today from back then….so your point is?

I am also based in Australia so that might also make a bit of a difference because we have had no airline crashes in this country and we have a very strict Potentially Unwanted Parts (PUP’s) system and other checks and balances that because we are under EASA based regulations and not FAA ones (who, by the way allowed the PMA part system….where parts are no longer required to be manufactured by the OEM for aircraft….and I’ve got plenty of stories about that nonsense…)

So yeah…. I quite happily still fly everywhere around the world….

We get asked for tips here in Australia where we have a minimum wage and no tipping culture - it’s rubbish because we don’t need to subsidise people’s income at all, but the app doesn’t differentiate countries customs it seems. Uber’s apps are the same always asking for tips despite minimum wage….

In regards to that twats tweet regarding the “the Australian people” - as a member of “the Australian people” I want to put it on record that that asshat does not speak for many of us here…..some of us are pleased about this (the ABC app is a far better source of news without the rubbish and downright unintelligent comments that come from posting articles on social media anyway….)

Ooh! I had a ZX-81 with a 16k ram pack on it (and cassette recorder to save with!) as a kid haha….god I’m old!!

We already have this in Australia - my local supermarkets are all using electronic pricing labels - you cannot tell if prices have changed and they can literally change them whilst you are in the store - you cannot even tell when something is on special anymore as the large paper tags you used to see have all gone in the name of “saving the environment” - which is absolute garbage considering we are subjected to a grocery store duopoly in Australia who are renowned for price gouging….

But with the iPhone it’s free, and not carrier dependent and works outside of the United States for those of us in the rest of the world….

My first was the HTC Dream (G1) followed by the Motorola Droid - still miss their form factor before everything became the black slab.

Oh that’s amazing!

The 80’s were certainly a different time. Especially when only allowed to access a computer at school for a few minutes in the day (Apple IIe) so all of us could “have a go at the computer in the library”!

I would never have imagined as a kid what it was going to be like today with smartphones and the internet everywhere….

They are actually paid $25 an hour here in Australia- how is that only “gig money”?

Again, tipping is not a thing in Australia and should never be expected by drivers who actually choose to do this sort of work….

Around 2002 when I tried Ubuntu for the first time on an old Dell laptop.

I only tried it initially as I was bored with Windows UI and liked the look of Linux. Used Linux ever since on and off.

That’s only if you live in the US though….the rest of the world doesn’t care that much for your local politics….so it won’t be “shoehorned” into all posts as there are internet users outside the USA….gasp

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one scratching my head at why was this an issue….(30 + years in aircraft maintenance just not avionics trade, airframes and engines)

Well lucky I am a woman then and personally don’t think my lady parts are offended at all….
