They’re not stranded because the part of the capsule that isn’t working has multiple redundancy and is intended to burn up on reentry anyway.

Starliner is perfectly capable of leaving the ISS whenever they want, but they would be unable to continue collecting data on the thruster shutoff (again, because it would burn up in the atmosphere).

People forgot how long it took the other world wars to really get rolling. (Presumably because they weren’t alive when it happened.)

I’m also of the opinion that unless something happens to de-escalate this conflict it will inevitably draw Europe, the US, and China in.

“Only FDA-approved substances will be allowed” (but we’re not going to do any testing so go wild!)

Arguably access to technology should make it easier than ever to report crimes.

Not exactly a proxy war when Russian troops are personally in Ukraine. That’s just a war.

I mean, it might be as simple as “my alternative conservative candidate is no longer in the running”. It could take a lot of diving into the stats to figure out the actual cause and effect.

I’d say not since Russia is trying to directly annex those portions of Ukraine. How is that a proxy?

Tesla would do well to distance themselves from Musk, for a lot of reasons. But it may be too late - the damage to their reputation may already be fatal.

I have never once called my dog “sir”. This is a sensationalized headline to the maximum.

If you want gun control, the best thing you can do is encourage marginalized communities to get lots of guns. That has always driven gun reform in the past.

The only thing Reddit still has is certain very active niche communities, but we do great on the more general stuff.

Woah there, I’m not sure I’m ready for that level of commitment.

They won’t, because they know if they do Israel will bomb them like they do other journalists and aid workers.

Blows my mind that everyone in academia hasn’t rejected this and moved to a platform more like GitHub, but for papers.

Publishers are no more than leeches in an internet-enabled society.

Sometimes I wonder of all these Apple Vision memes popping up are a weak guerrilla marketing campaign by Apple trying to desperately make it relevant.

I ran a game server with ~100k registered players and 99% of ban appeals I saw were blatant cheaters claiming that they did nothing wrong. It’s wild.

“There’s a shortage of perfect breasts in the world. It would be a pity to damage yours.”

The real headline is that 20% of Republicans think so. Shocking.

The individual GPT-3.5 output with the highest similarity score was in computer science (100%), followed by physics (92%), and psychology (88%).

And that’s why this claim is mostly bullshit. These use cases are all sciences, where the correct solution is usually the same or highly similar no matter who writes it. Small snippets of computer code cannot be copyrighted anyway.

Not surprisingly, softer subjects like “English” and “Theatre” rank extremely low on this scale.

SMS is hilariously insecure, and messaging is a critical piece of infrastructure. I’m shocked that the government has taken so long forcing Apple to play nicely with other platforms, considering international data security.

Not just any rant, a blatantly discriminatory one!

You DO see the contradiction where you claim to not care about somebody’s sexuality, yet get offended when you hear about it, right? And what’s worse, you don’t just get offended, but you turn around and directly insult those people by insisting they have a mental illness!

What you’re really saying is that you’re so offended by someone else’s harmless actions that you wish they would disappear.

An extraordinarily sensible action. While Israel is certainly causing the most civilian suffering right now, Hamas also needs to be punished for their instigating terrorist actions.

The only good guys here are the noncombatants.

The answer is no, the American political system cannot survive a high percentage of willful contrarianism. This is true because the mechanisms to change the system require support from those bad actors as well, and the popular vote can do very little to fix if.

No, but API interoperability with literally anything else would be a damn good start. Right now Apple sues anyone who tries to make a bridge between iMessage and other standards.

Everyone in the world who uses Twitter to broadcast news to the masses now can’t. Every news org, company, and politician now has dramatically reduced incentive to post on Twitter.

Oof, I hope they didn’t pay their designers too much for that amorphous blob logo.

It’s a lovely place these days. Welcome back.

The outcome of that would more likely be war than a restructure of Chinese government.

And such a war would certainly make WWII look like babies at play.

Eh, I’m not so sure about that. He correctly predicted that Russia was our largest geopolitical enemy (which Obama laughed at), and he also staunchly opposed Trump (being the only party member to vote to convict him). The ACA is also based on a plan that he created as Governor of Massachusetts. I think his track record shows him as a fairly different sort of Republican than whatever the hell is going on there today.

But yeah, his policy is terrible like the rest of the GOP. No argument from me there.
