Pushing for bloated web apps instead of having optimized and perfectly functional websites was what killed it for me.

I still mourn the death of Presto-days Opera.

I would love to have domain agnostic URL for lemmy posts. It's not easy to copy and paste from mobile and having multiple redundant URLs like instance.tld/post/12345 and another.tld/post/98765 leads to a discoverability problem.

Linux distros have gotten friendlier and with better HW and SW support but PC makers and already established ecosystem have also made customizing more difficult. This means end users are increasingly discouraged to do anything that is not "authorized", further driving away adoption of alternatives.

I guess there's a market for... skin contact?

They have huge bills to pay already. It can totally lead to enshittification.
