The tech space is intrinsically tied to the capitalist infinite growth mindset, that's why

the real funny here is how the USA has the most lax driving test standards in the developed world resulting in crazy amounts of road traffic accidents and really high mortality rates, but instead of dealing with shitty driving at the source there's a billion dollar industry in autonomous driving.

So you're saying a two year old Tesla should be so inherently badly made that its' range degrades by half in that time? Ok

They're right though. I'm into Battlebit Advanced at the moment and while it's a refreshing take on the Battlefield formula of combined arms gameplay, its also so much sweatier than the old Battlefields I came up on were.

In addition to what everyone has said, Lemmy doesn't have an established culture compared to Reddit. No in-jokes like the poop knife for example

Custard creams 🔛🔝

Toyota hybrids are the most common taxis in urban areas of the UK, they absolutely eat up miles with no issues. If "every hybrid has super pricey transmission/clutch issues" then cab companies with razor thin margins wouldn't be using them, pretty simple logic

Snowrunner is great fun

War Thunder. Well over 2000 hours across two platforms. I regret every minute and every penny spent.

Jabra Elite 85t wireless earbuds when I'm out and about, noise cancelling Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones when I'm in the office/library/when my partner is WFH taking meetings, wired AKG K52 studio monitor headphones if I don't want to disturb my partner when listening to vinyl or other high fidelity music- otherwise it goes through my Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers. If I'm watching youtube or a film in bed on my laptop I'll just use the laptop's speakers

We've been that way in UK for a while now! It's very common in Europe too. People of all genders carry tote bags or wear cross body bags!

The UK has a poor investment culture. Funds are concentrated into unproductive areas like landbanking and housing development because they have the largest return in our ridiculous property market, while investment into actual emerging technology development is neglected and the UK ends up as a client nation to the US.

My guy, have you tried carrying a power bank in the leg pocket of your cargos?! It is far less comfortable than having it in a cross body bag or fanny pack

I meant illegal on public roads...so effectively illegal if you want to use one as a car alternative for short distances

Privately owned ones are illegal in the UK :( you can only use ones owned by rental services and they're only in a few cities

Keep being a science illiterate retard lmao

I went straight into it from playing a lot of BF4 recently and it really took me aback. Weapon balancing is pretty awful as well, SMGs are much too powerful- the Vector has no recoil and a high fire rate so people can kill you in less than a second with it.

There's a concerningly large contingent of techbros who subscribe to eugenics

I got a really good Glock 18 style electric water pistol off Aliexpress for this summer, at half the price they were being hawked for on Amazon. It even comes with a drum magazine- it was great for a music festival I went to recently!

It's been becoming like how they describe in Northern Europe over the last 15 years though. Things are better than the US in terms of statutory rights and work culture, but people are worse off in real terms than pre-2008. Especially so in the UK, which has become a low-wage high-CoL country for the overall majority of people.

Overall it isn't a bad thing, but on a societal level it makes life harder for the working population supporting the elderly. From what I've read on working culture in Japan it's hard enough to begin with.

Cargo pants are back in a pretty big way, as we go into hotter months cargo shorts are definitely following!

Some things on Temu are complete trash but some are really good for the cash. They have a HUGE range of pin badges for less than a dollar, I've seen some of the more expensive ones ($2) sold for $10+ on other marketplaces like Amazon.
