What does that even mean?
until they get aggressive
This like not being racist, but they shouldn't be so loud with those blm protests?
Not homophobic, but they shouldn't have to make everything gay in the summer?
Maybe in wrong (I hope I am), but that is what your comment sounds like.
Fonts are definitely subject to copyright. That's why there are open fonts and why not all of the fonts on windows are just thrown into Linux for compatibility.
Edit: forgot to finish with that the inverse is also true. If that X is indistinguishable from something copylefted or public domain then he will be facing a lot of trouble trying to copyright it.
Honestly this is what pissed me off about the reaction to cyberpunk bugs. I remember how the fallout games were at launch. And I think even now trying to play new Vegas on Xbox (360 I think?) Has an issue if your save file gets too big where the save will corrupt.
CDPR definitely over promised. But every business does. They probably should've not released on last gen consoles at all, but that is tricky as fuck. I mean when they started to dev cp2077, I doubt Sony and MS even had dev units for next gen. Probably should've delayed last gen release only, made a transparent explanation and apology, and did what they ended up doing after release. But I had a low mid tier PC that played it at a solid 60 fps without major issue at launch. And it was exactly what I had hoped.
I'll probably also really like starfield, warts and all, when it drops. These are just my type of game.
Ha. Hu ha ha. Ha. Hahaha.
Money has value because it is an efficient medium to facilitate trade. Specific forms of money have value because of what backs it and it acts as a medium for trade. And yeah I'm sure what society really values will at some point be a money that limits the ability to deal with economic crises. Or that slowly disappears, because privacy Bob didn't believe in banks but his SSD failed, or because Crypto Karen forgot her password. Or a hacker loots an exchange.
I mean, it's not like those are fundamental problems that could bring an economy to it's knees right? But hey, at least the money has privacy (it won't) and we don't have to worry about inflation (deflation on the other hand...).
This is almost always just being an asshole. You can be honest and be an asshole all at the same time. There is a reason that people train in conflict de-escalation and how to talk to people in a tactful way.
This is a naive world view. Working in a toxic environment is such a drain on you already. And then if you are in a field that is hard to break in to, you worry causing any issues will get you blackballed. And you often blame yourself and truly start to believe it is you who is doing bad. And getting a lawyer and suing is usually a fucking stressful nightmare. I have these huge boxes full of paperwork that I've filled out over the past few years and have to keep. I will randomly need some of them. And I'll randomly be notified to do even more shit. And it drags on for years. And my stuff is small fry compared to going up against massive company. Fucking paperwork gives me anxiety at this point.
Then you have to think about the rabid fan base that will be sending her death threats. Doxing her. Etc. All because they decided Linus is too cool he has all the computer shit.
Yeah I think they are still in court with the EU. If Mozilla fell, the EU would almost certainly come after chrome immediately.
You realize the attacks are coming from Gaza where Israel did pull out, and then the people immediately elected a terrorist group to lead the country. That group then put the destruction of Israel as one of their main platforms.
I mean if anything this is showing why Israel doesn't withdraw from the West Bank.
The fun thing about that is the dude gave you paradoxical advice. If you take theiradvice and don't trust unsolicited advice, then you are trusting unsolicited advice. If you don't take their advice then you are following their advice by not trusting unsolicited advice.
I mean I trust oracle about as I trust my ex. But this something I suppose.
Terrible advice. Running an email server is hard. And you also have to get it white listed, because all major providers block random servers to cut down on spam.
This might be my favorite meme of the month. There is a problem though. How often do they actually talk to people to end up in this quandary?
I kid. All the love to my vegan arch users. Or arch using vegans. Whichever one you prefer.
I miss text centric internet. I was interested in Linux from like age 12. But I only had one computer and was scared to install it. Well I got tricked on irc to fuck up my windows install. Left with some Linux install CDs and little other options, I went for it. My modem wasn't supported, but luckily I had a little bit of money stashed and went to office Depot to grab an external modem I knew worked.
And after struggling to get windows to work well on that old hand me down computer I was blown away. Especially when I found lynx. It opened webpages so fast. Got AIM working, got irc going, and had everything I needed. Started to learn more about the system and the internet was a wonderful place. Loads of information, but you had to seek out the things that interested you.
I made some really good friends that I would chat with for hours on end. Really helped me through an otherwise pretty not good childhood. Helped me learn a lot of stuff. And it wasn't ad filled, hyper tracking oriented, walled garden garbage.
Also, goatse.
The most frustrating thing is when you get that time you want but no access to the things you'd like to do with that time.
These are subjective statements though and different people want different things. And difficulty variation can broaden the audience while not really changing the game. Sometimes I love a fight. Sometimes I want a story. Sometimes I want to couch coop with my youngest kid and he struggles with some games that he otherwise loves (looking at you Cuphead) that an easier mode would totally fix. And he absolutely loves Sonic, but the originals would be unplayable for him if not for modern saving and non permadeath. Or emulation with save states and cheat codes.
Why are you trying to convince people that if a game is too difficult or long periods between saving doesn't work for them then it is their fault and not that of the game design. That's a weird stance to take. If someone designed a car that was generally very nice but with the gear shift next to the passenger seat door, would you say that is just a car for people with super long arms or would you say that was a poor design choice that is going to massively limit an otherwise nice car?
Iirc the EU said it was expected to have feature parity between apple and non apple cables.
Also, if they did that, it would be a characteristic that makes iphones look worse than android. Just imagine being an iphone owner needing a charger and your friend hands you their fast charging android one only for it to be slow as piss for you right after they spent 10 minutes getting 40% charge.
Language changes over time and words don't mean the same thing forever. The entire purpose of language is to communicate. So if you have a Mac and say you are a PC user, you are failing to use language well. Apple themselves helped facilitate that change. It can be less consistent with Linux on a PC, I agree. But language is an evolving meme (as per the original definition of meme, not the cat photos). And to not acknowledge that is like being a young earth creationist with language.
Do you also argue that anyone who is happy is part of the LGBT community?
Hey don't forget me. I'm a little late but I'm here. And this thing is so stupid. I really wanted a new Sony handheld but this was not what I meant.
Studies have shown we typically use pattern matching for our choices but not statistics. One such experiment had humans view to light bulbs (I think one was red one was green). One light would turn on at a time and they were allowed or given a record of what had happened. Then they were asked to guess what would occur next for n number of steps. Same thing is done with rats. Humans are rewarded with money based on correct choices and rats with food. Here is the thing, one light (let's say red) would light up with 70% probability and the other with 30%. But it was randomized.
The optimal solution is to always pick red. Every time. But humans pick a pattern. Rats pick red. Humans consistently do worse than rats. So while we are using a form of updating, it certainly isn't proper bayesian updating. And just because you think we function some way doesn't make it true. And it will forever be difficult to describe any AI as conscious, because we have really arbitrarily defined it to fit us. But we can't truly say what it is. Not can we can why we function how we do. Or if we are all in a simulation or just a Boltzmann brain.
Honestly, something that concerns me most about AI is that it could become sentient, but we will not know if it is or just cleverly programmed so we treat it only as a tool. Because while I don't think AI is inherently dangerous, I think becoming a slave owner of something that could be much more powerful probably is. And given their lack of chemical hormones, we will have even less of an understanding of what or how it feels.
My English teacher always warned us about the dangers of run on sentences.
I mean lemmy is, like the early days of reddit and digg before it, full of tech enthusiasts.
Linus was one of if not the most successful tech YouTuber. He went from a YouTuber to a tech media empire. I don't know why you'd be surprised that a site that is basically full of his target audience is interested in it.
And honestly this is some awful stuff.
I mean I'm fucking sick of being reminded Trump is a real person, but I'm not surprised by all the coverage of his arrests.
Wtf is this? Israel won't exist in 10 years? The Arab world won't accommodate them?
They are on better terms with much of the Arab world than they have ever been. They are certainly on better terms than Hamas is. Hamas has Hezbollah and Iran (Persian not Arab). Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, and Sudan all have formal relations with Israel. Turkey had long had formal relations with Israel.
And for most of those that are adamantly against Israel aren't exactly in the position to really start something that they know would escalate to US involvement. You think Iran is going to Nuke them or something? Because Israel is rather established.
Article is a bit strange for the graphic and didn't Metroid pre-date doom? Also what is the bottom middle left game (white and red hair) and bottom right game?
Be careful. I suffer from anxiety too and used CBD for a while. At some point I was prescribed meds after having a few panic attacks due to some life issues. Those meds were benzodiazepines. That shit is amazing in the moment. Might be the most impactful medication I've ever taken. But they are easily the most addictive thing I have ever used (and I was a fairly troubled youth if you know what I mean). Long term they are awful for memory and may increase the odds of dimentia significantly. And withdrawal is some of the most severe of any addictive substance. Talking seizures and possible death from going cold turkey if you've been on for a long time and higherish dosage. Really only alcohol compares as far as withdrawal symptoms. Heroine and cocaine are less severe.
So all I'm saying is that if they are benzos, they are not a good long term solution in spite of the fact that they work very well. All benzos labels say they should only be given for very short term management, but doctor's hand out that shit like candy.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is absolutely great for anxiety and requires less or no drugs. Also, there are some other options for long term management that aren't so dangerous. Hopefully it is one of those if she takes it regularly.
Sonic frontiers and persona 5 royal both have denuvo on PC I think and both are pretty big and great imo.
I watched halo the way I watch most films made of books I've read. Going in treating it as its own thing. And I rather enjoyed it. The whole not showing his face wasn't even something in the full story. Just something they backed in to accidentally in the games. The books have him with his helmet off a lot early on even after getting mjolnir.
But it probably isn't top 5. That being said, I love sonic stuff and I'm not sure boom is either.
I get what you're saying, but the issue is that if the only punishment for a crime is a fine, then it is really just a service the rich can pay for. Even suppose you set the fine to be defined as the amount gained plus some extra. Most who commit the crime are unlikely to be caught. So you need the extra to be defined as many times the amount earned from the crime. But then you are unlikely to get the amount they fine, and might just make it so the person is more likely to commit crime to try to get out of the debt (see: world war 2 causes).
That being said, there are probably better options. Community service, restrictions on investing, etc. but those have their limits. Also, I don't know what Japanese prisons are like. They might serve a better function than the criminal factories of the US system.
Shit. My youngest was so ugly I pull up pictures just to show off the level of ugliness that he had obtained. But after his first birthday he decided to take after his mother in the looks department instead.
Edit: but I definitely saw him through daddy goggles at the time and I'm glad no one said I had an ugly baby.
Thing is, handheld isn't even niche. Sony just bungled it with the dumbass non SD card shit. That added so much cost to owning a vita. My kid lost mine, but when I had it, I mostly got games on cartridge because I didn't want to pay for more than the 8 gig card.
Handheld has always been Nintendo's safe console. And PSP did quite well. When the GameCube and wiiu flopped Nintendo was still making bank off of handheld.
But whatever. I have a emulator handheld, vita3k is looking nice on my phone and getting really close to functional, my steam deck is wonderful for power and even more emulation. And of course their is the switch. I guess since I haven't even gotten a ps5 I will be skipping out on this monstrosity.
I agree. I'm also annoyed at gaming media giving sonic games shit. I understand there were many many bad games, but some of the most recent stuff is quite enjoyable. I love frontiers. Mania is great. Sonic forces was a bit goofy but fairly enjoyable. Murder of Sonic is fun and free. Sonic generations (especially the 3ds version) is cool too. And they made origins more worthwhile all while prepping for a big new classic sonic game with multiplayer that I'm pretty hyped for.
I mean the other end of the spectrum is something like Metroid. Almost all of the games are bangers (not you whatever that third person shooter one was called) but are released few and far between.
If Stephen King wrote scp and someone made it into a near perfect AAA game adaptation. Loved that game. Can't wait to play the sequel.

And to add, he held such away with the tech enthusiast community that, if during the reddit fallout, he had come out and talked shit about lemmy under the guise of some list of reasons and pushed for kbin or even some other service entirely then we would likely see a drastic difference in the number of people that joined here.
