No matter how much they try I'm not opening them.

Time. Can't spend 3 hours a day commuting to work.

Pittu, Kadalai kari

I guess the person is asking for a mute switch. Once the microphone access is granted, the person can't mute/unmute unless the website provides such an option.

What did you do?

I love you too.
It's not a single word though.

  1. At the beginning of the video the kid was speaking in Malayalam language. So the person is from Kerala.
  2. He joined INS Shivaji, which started operations in 1945. Wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/INS_Shivaji
  3. Few trainees were moved to INS Valsura, which was started in 1942. Wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/INS_Valsura
  4. By seeing the video they had all training materials and machines, so it would have taken at least 5 to 10 years from 1945.
  5. Later he mentioned that he joined INS Vikrant, which started operations in 1961 by the Indian Navy. Wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/INS_Vikrant_(1961)
  6. Another fact to consider is that Indian cinema moved to colour films after 1970. Wiki: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earliest_colour_films_in_South_India
  7. Since the video is in B&W, I expect the footage would have been recorded between 1962 to 1970.

I would do the same 👍

  • It was open-sourced a long time back after the dev felt the number of users who bought and the amount of time he spent didn't feel profitable.
  • I tried using it, but stopped moving all my financial data as it can't handle multiple currencies.
  • The web interface on mobile browsers was very basic, not sure it's still the same.

It's okay for enthusiasts, but when you take this to people who handle finance and accounting, the first thing that they ask is 'where is excel?' It would be a failure, if there is no Microsoft Excel, in the corporate world.

Oracle couldn't force their employees to use open office, eventually moving to the Microsoft office.

I know this comment will be down voted but that's the reality.

I started using Google sheets. I know the implications on storing/sharing personal data with Google.

But Google sheets is being used as my mini db to store all kind of data. I automated many stuff with Google app script with telegram bot.

I am 100% sure that now I can live without Excel.

Perspective from India:

28% GST for spare parts of electric vehicles and the companies play monopoly by raising the price of the spare parts by 5x to 10x.

If we don't use original parts sold by them and do maintenance outside the vehicle will not be covered under warranty.

There were many fire accidents due to the hot climate, which requires the warranty in place.

It's kind of a nightmare to own an electric vehicle in India.

It's good for someone who drives for more than 50km in a day. They can save on fuel, which will be higher than all other costs. The fossil fuel is 10x higher covering the same distance in an electric vehicle.

Same for me. I use solid explorer as I bought it.

I installed MXplorer on my mom's phone as it has all the necessary options and is free.

My pc is logged in with my reddit account. Few Google results take me to reddit, I use only that time. I don't visit reddit to see what's happening there.

Was an AVP in a bank moved to a different company to work as a software consultant with a 10% hike. I would be earning more than what I'm earning if I had stayed, but I'm happy now.

The company I worked for had installed software that tracks keyboard and mouse movements, it considers I'm idle if I don't touch them for 180 seconds. Sometimes I lose more than 50% of the time because of attending meetings, it would report I was unproductive.

It always gave me a feeling like someone constantly standing behind my back and watching.

I usually work fast and complete things well in advance and spend time in the thought process of solving problems and enhancing existing process. Though I delivered more than what was expected from me, I was feeling insecure by someone gauging my performance by the amount of time I spent on computers.

When you buy something that's going to be with you till your last day, it should give happiness. You shouldn't be anxious and sleepless at night because of that.

I'm not a user of Apple products. But KDE has developed a tool to share stuff locally.

The requirement is that both the devices should be in the same local network. Give it a try and provide your feedback.

Is sleeping on the floor with a pillow wrong?

Are you going to unplug the existing harddisk? If your Linux /efi partition is written in the windows boot partition, you are kind of messed up.

Better unplug the existing harddisk and try Linux, once you are comfortable you can switch to dual boot then completely swith over to Linux.

KDE Connect - available for Linux, Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows

A ported version is available for Mac.

It supports to transfer files, clipboard, able to access/send SMS, use it as remote keyboard/mouse, pass terminal commands from mobile to pc and many more without Google.

The peer devices should be on same Wi-Fi, that's the requirement.

I'm using it and I feel it is far better than the other apps.

I would say amazefit is the better option, check the compatibility with gardggetbride before buying.

I bought an Amazefit bip 3 years ago and am using Master for Amazefit, sadly the developer stopped updating the app. The watch/band supports only step counter, heart rate measure, sleep tracking. So, whatever options the app provides work fine for me.

I need to look for other app options when I upgrade.

I had a Redmi phone made by Xiaomi. They conducted a giveaway on Twitter and I won it. I was shocked by seeing it, as it was the first time I won anything.

Received the same model phone in a month time. I gave it to my sister.

My phone was stolen after 2 months. So I felt like if you don't spend money and "earn" something, it will leave you soon.

English is not my first language. I use it to fix grammar and rephrase sentences for making communication easy.

The platform/language that I use doesn't supported by chat GPT or Bard. So I write my own code.

An Indian / Tamil movie director made few films that are linked to each other. The fans call those movies part of the Loki verse.

I have 4.67/5 in Uber. I'm not a driver.

Bringing a used laptop will not be an issue. I have asked my friends to buy a new mobile phone and brought it to India with 0 customs tax. But check if they are okay to carry 1kg as she may plan to carry full luggage limit.

But, spend a little more and buy a better one. $30 is what 3% of the air ticket price?

What I feel is that you need do is to compare the cost of power supply vs hardware then choose whichever is cheaper.

A watch, when I was 15.

All my phones were bootloader unlocked before within the 15 days of purchase date. Never bothered about warranty. It is always custom ROMs.

Same. Don't want to stuck in their ecosystem.

Enable 2 factor authentication for bitwarden. Since it is online based password manager, if someone knows your master password then you lost all your data, may be money, etc.,

If you start storing the password and 2FA at the same place, it defetes the purpose of the 2nd factor authentication. Better to keep them in two places.

Without the passwords the 2fa codes are nothing. Even if your password manager got hacked, most of your accounts would be safe as the 2fa is not there.

It's a good tip, but nowadays a lot of apps accessing the contacts. Storing secured information on contacts is vulnerable. Please be mind it.

A good read about self hosted email servers: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32715437

If you are going to use it within your family members it will be fine, but not with other users who uses corporate provided email services.
