Telegram requires a phone number.

It does and it sucks. But you can still have adequate protection because knowing your number won't help authorities much. They have to find you in some group they deem illegal for anything to happen. They must find your account first, then add your number and see if that's your account. Telegram did some improvements on that issue at some point, so it should take much longer and more resources to do.

Also it's relatively easy to get a sim card not tied to your passport in Russia. Also using a cheap sim from another country is also an option, since you can set up a cloud password so that even if someone has your sim they won't access your data fully.

This might as well be a honey pot for trapping more lgbt people.

A service requirement of a telephone number is not a honey spot. But sure some groups are honey spots. Yes, authorities mainly operate within the service. It can get to overwhelming extent but that mist mean they don't have real backdoor-like access.

It's not a matter of finding a more private app. It's about keeping a group and have an opportunity to expand it, reach more people who would need to be a part of it. Any app in Russia that is not telegram would be too obscure for that. For now it's a perfect balance between privacy and reach.

The folks who only know JavaScript and refuse to learn more deserve to be blamed for electron's (and similar) continued existence, and therefore for excessive resource usage.

This is what happens when western people read such articles. They turn into denial. Telegram is basically the safest place in Russia's digital space.

these people must have been living under a rock

Russians are very advanced when it comes to the internet. They spend more time in it because real life sucks more than in other countries.

Telegram has control over the content and channels

Doesn't mean anything. Especially for groups who just want to communicate.

has been working with governments in the past

There is not enough evidence to support the probability of telegram making steps to make finding gay people easier for Russian authorities.

I'd assume the average citizen has harder time.

Average Russian knows more about VPN than most others because of tons of restrictions. And telegram only helps with that by providing workaround and info about proxies.

doesn't care about who can read and influence their communication

Groups chats are private by default, you have to change that by yourself to make it public. There is no evidence that anyone else would be able to read it whatsoever while it's private. The only danger comes from actual members who may invite unwanted people or share screenshots of the conversation.

the company behind Telegram has been involved in various sketchy situations

That's the only thing you have. Any other company that could provide a service with similar features would have to be involved in very similar sketchy situations and there is no way around that. Signal doesn't care about public communication features which puts it into a whole different weight category. Also signal would hardly care to help Russians restore access if it gets blocked.

I wouldn't bet my wellbeing

Not surprising. You're clearly not Russian.

Did someone actually investigate and find the exact place in scripts where this logic takes place?

EDIT: Yes. https://www.androidauthority.com/youtube-reportedly-slowing-down-videos-firefox-3387206/

Except that Ukraine attacking Russia was a lie. Russia and hamas are aggressors.

Pretty much every single decision you can see from their history since the inception of EGS is either stupid or blatantly destructive to gaming industry. Just some examples: better revenue shares for developers? Sure but this translates into worse platform. Money bonuses for exclusivity is great for developers? Sure but the game is then stuck at the platform that gives no means for users to interact and let developers know how they could improve their product. Cross platform multiplayer platform that works? Sure but then we have to deal with stupid requirements like having an account on additional platforms we may not want to use, even to play single player modes sometimes.

You can also check Tim's Twitter and see how ignorant and hypocritical he is. I wouldn't mind it but his decisions seem to actually affect the whole platform and therefore the industry so... too bad.

There should be means that would allow fans and appreciators donate money to creators. And it looks like we already have a lot of those.

Also, culture and art should be promoted by governments. Therefore taxes could go that way too.

Anyway, it's not like people say it's fine for everyone to not pay. But at least we know it's fine for many to pay much less than the rest, see regional pricing and discounts. Creators are totally fine with those. Nothing prevents it from being extended further to people who have a hard time trying to become potential customers.

Putin alone cannot stop the war

He can stop the war because he can command Russian army to leave Ukraine.

Love the absence of logic in these messages. Next time it'll be "pay $2 to continue" or "do a barrel roll to continue".

Read the last line of the quoted tweet.

Horseman more like it.

That's wrong way to say "let's help Ukraine survive".

It's been a few years since Valve introduced curators system. Curators don't receive keys but legit copies. Not all curators act in a good faith but it's impossible for them to put such copies on sale on platforms you mentioned.

I just want to make great games!

(And I can't do that without money from big publishers and without installing anti-cheat on your PCs)

I wonder if it means something for handheld devices like Steam Deck.

Those who don't understand that paid little attention to his life and his fight. I suggest you checking out the Navalny documentary at least.

One thing that can't happen to Putin is getting assassinated by Putin.

I actually believed that kernal level anti cheats stopped all cheating.

This is what allows AC devs to continue working on their useless code that only makes a mess out of everyone's PCs and getting money with it. Same with DRM devs.

They may be not guilty, but they are responsible. This is how wars work I believe.

It's called Navalny. They made it available for free here though not sure if proper subtitles are included https://navalny-film.io/

Otherwise it's on streaming platforms and torrents.

"We will repeat in every sentence that we are not a for-profit emulator, we'll be fine!"

Yeah.

Not even a dlc, it's most probably already in the game and you can meet people using it and see the effects of it. It's just an unlock.

This is not something that can prevent Putin from removing army from a non Russian territory. If he is not an idiot, that is.

Putin withdrawing army from Ukraine will cause chaos instead of peaceful life - a chaos that would never happen if he continues killing people in this war.

Sure grandma, now let's get you to your bed.

Lately, basically saying that hamas did a big mistake and Gaza would be in a better situation now if they (hamas) were smarter human beings.

Tails is a male though.

And you assume your apple-using friends will listen to you? They are really a part of the problem at least. Google would need to create an app they would want to install by themselves, and this is not exactly easy, if possible at all. Google users are mostly fine with having many apps for communication, apple users are mostly not.

The company is called Valve.

That's less than optimal, for a website that is to be used as a search engine.

The image implies that Tails (on the right) met an adult (an adult "Tails") who is pretty. Problem is, that adult is female, so she is not the same character or person.

I know some people actually think Tails is a female, probably due to his voice in the anime, and that's canonically wrong. And whoever wants to bring up gender transition - feel free as long as it's a fan made material. "What does this even trying to say" is a proper reaction to the OP image.

How many chromium processes will it launch on first run?

I'm dead set on playing online games without cheaters.

Then you should've stopped playing when you encountered the first cheater. The one that you knew was a cheater, at least.

Things like this create false sense of safety where you assume the game has less cheaters but in reality you can hardly tell.

Is it another electron app?

It's cool while it works. But these options are not going to be provided forever in newer hardware. Recent example I saw is the absense of AHCI option in new laptops (you now need additional drivers just to reinstall Windows manually). We need to keep developing software solutions to software problems.

it’s the most elegant and cohesive system. My favorite example of this is when you send an email with Mail.app. Pressing send plays a whoosh sound effect and it’s in stereo! Discovering these details over the years has been a delight

Omg an app is able to play a sound!
