I like the part where she admits she doesn't give a shit about infant mortality rates in poor areas

It was never about the sanctity of life for most of them.

Ignorance is a choice, too. I've met so many people who are proud of being ignorant. I once met a woman who was in her mid 30s who was explicitly against learning new things because...reasons?

I was looking at Twitter earlier, and my feed was full of antivaxxers, election deniers, some anti-abortion activist that claims that Planned Parenthood is involved in sex trafficking, and even 9/11 deniers.

Twitter is a dead man walking

Oh no, permabanned out of nowhere for interacting with a subreddit at some point in the past, that must suck.

I've totally had that happen in the last year, more than once. In one case it was a sub I never visit, for visiting a sub they consider dangerous, three years ago.

I feel like my objections to anti-abortion laws are playing out just as I feared. I'm against abortion but I feel like easier access and less stigma around birth control is a big part of preventing abortions. My main objection was I knew right wingers would make no distinctions between any kind of abortions, even to save lives of women. And son of a gun, unfortunately I was right.

I gave up on it because I've tried logging in via Jeroba, Connect, and Voyager on my phone, and no bueno. I don't mind putting in some effort but eventually I give up.

I had an Acer netbook that I ended up calling the Netbook of Theseus because I bought one in 2009, then several years later bought an identical one on eBay. I ran Linux on the thing and kept it until last year.

That's what bugs me about modern phone design, though. They could put Otterbox-type protection right on the phone and that'd be fine for most people. Personally have an S23 and I think it's unnecessarily ugly, thin, and easy to drop, when it's not in a case.

It's quickly turning into another Parler or Truth Social

Doors?

No, seriously, the only time I had a toilet with a door in public school was in kindergarten. After that, no doors on the toilets.

Oh lort. You just gave me flashbacks. One of my kids bought one of those $200 Chuwi laptops and it would barf all over itself about once a month, so badly it would require a reinstall.

What's happened is the US judicial system has decided that if you make a fireman or policeman legally liable, then everyone has to be. Meaning if you see that your neighbor is in an emergency situation, it's not enough to call 911, you have to respond and can be found liable, if emergency responders are.

It's stupid.

So...do we know if Reddit iself is behind flooding subs with comments about how mods are being jerks and hurting the communities pointlessly? It's weird, the same kinds of comments in every sub I'm in. Also lots of comments about how Lemmy is too complicated. 😆

Has some real "why doesn't Tesla put an alternator on the wheels" energy

It seems like a lot of iot tech is geared more towards iPhone in the US. For example my wife's Odyssey will read the entire header of a text message with text to speech, and if you look into it Honda says it's a known issue. No such issue with iPhones.

Couldn't have doors in high school, we might try to smoke a joint in there after all.

And per usual, there are people who claim issues of attraction and consent are transphobic

Oh, I bought the second one for parts but it turned out to be in better shape than my old one. So I moved a bunch of the parts from the first one over to the second, because neither was working before I did that.

Good Lord.

I'll give kind of the opposite story. An Illinois town's PD has made the news at least twice for chasing a UFO. In the 80s they were on some TV special about unexplained events, talking about the time they chased a triangular-shaped UFO for a long time. I remember watching that, and then going to the nearby air base for an air show, complete with a triangular-shaped stealth bomber...

"But who do I sue" is also why it took so long for Linux to catch on.

But who do I sue. I hate America so much sometimes.

Y'know...it matters, but it doesn't. Technically they wouldn't have to let a neo-Nazi instance play with others if they didn't want to, and come to that they could take the same route as Truth Social and just close it off from the rest of the Fediverse.
