lol this is the only response necessary

I really love shit like this, feels like the golden age of computers and the internet

oh god, human centipede??

Carl Sagan was already mentioned, he’s def a favorite of mine. I’d also add Matt Mercer, everything I’ve seen of him makes it seems like he’s just a wonderful person all around.

Can you elaborate? Love her content, wonder if I’m missing anything about her I’m not aware of.

This is exactly what I was reminded of! I think its gotta be this

My thought exactly! If anything of the type OP mentioned did actually exist, it would now be in the realm of science! Science at its core is just observation.

Hear hear!

Awful to hear about stuff like this, it continues to blow my mind how privileged men are without even realizing it.

This is a tricky situation, since I wouldn’t want anyone to rely on external validation for their self-esteem, but here I think it’s OK to lean into the probability that your friends probably aren’t lying to you, and that you might have some internal monologue that’s hurting you.

Yup, I’m a StoryGraph user as well, does everything I’d need a book app to do

thanks for this, seems like the most reasonable take.

Anybody got the whole article? Blocked from reading the entire thing unless I start a 7 day free trial, lol

I think “A Tale of Two Sisters” is incredibly underrated, really great Korean ghost story. Acting is top notch, solid scares, and beautiful cinematography. Highly recommended!!

This is a cool read on that game, nice

Haven’t watched the vid, but I’ve been thinking about this lately. Consciousness isn’t like a super well-defined concept, I don’t think, so by some loose metrics I’d figure we’re basically there, or really close. Given it’s not like a physical or material concept, the appearance of consciousness to me is more- or-less consciousness. Make sure you treat your chat bots nicely!

Thanks! Good read

Honestly reading nietzsche in college was mind blowing for me. Started with “the gay science” and read like 3 more of his books in a row. Will probably reread his “genealogy of morals” again soon.

Looks great! Looking forward to being able to minimize already-read comment threads again!

Does “satisfactory” count? It’s still in early access but I fucking love that game.

Seconding this, excellent channel

I’ve only heard fantastic things about murderbot, will definitely read it once I get the chance

Finishing up “The demon-haunted world” by Carl Sagan, which is really good but a little repetitive, and I’m a few chapters into Bertrand Russell’s “The Problems of Philosophy”, which is a great little book that summarizes the big questions of philosophy up to that point in time (in Russell’s view, of course).
After those I’m looking to start Richard Feynman “The Pleasure of Finding things out”, since the Sagan book got me wanting more popular science stuff, as well as “the people’s history of the United States”, since that comes recommended from some friends (and will hunting of course!).

Another one I have on my shelf, seems like a tough one to get through. Actually thinking I’ll start his “philosophical investigations” before trying the tractatus again

Lol brutal!

Solid list, I can attest to all of these except coherence, which I haven’t seen yet. OP should watch some of these!!

Really have to watch Poughkeepsie Tapes at some point, keep hearing crazy stuff about it!!!

Super useful; thanks for posting!

Def agree, would love this addition!

Appreciate the response, will def check it out now!!

Both, I would think. What’s currently undiscovered in reality will only be discovered by employing science, in some degree.

How did you like godel Escher Bach? Have it on my bookshelf, intending to read it eventually after my current stack.

Which app are you using??

Say more about how the majority of people don’t have a logical concept of life from an autistic standpoint, I’m curious!
