What do you mean added for non customers? The entire purpose of not adding RCS or supporting iMessage for Android devices is to create a worse experience for their customers if they interact with non-customers. Sure it likely drew more people to buy iPhones, but it's also arguably pretty awful for any society that plays apple's game rather than just downloading a cross platform app.
This is actually a pretty big deal. I got a lot of text coming up, but the short of it is that apple requiring calibration/pairing and not offering the tool to independent repair shops resulted in these shops being forced to offer substandard results to customers because of issues with a part that costs 6-8 dollars. This often put people in a position where they need to pay 1000+ dollars to get their whole logic board replaced by Apple or pay a reasonable price for minor repairs and not be able to have their laptop sleep when they close it.
With the previous models using a nearly identical lid angle sensor you could simply swap in a new one and it wouldn't need calibration. With the apple silicon MacBooks, if you were to swap the display assembly or the lid angle sensor was damaged you would typically end up with a laptop that would not sleep when you closed the lid or would sleep at a weird angle along the path and wake up when fully closed. Only apple and apple authorized repair centers had access to the tool to calibrate an angle sensor. This is a problem because under Apple's system if there are any signs of liquid on the logic board you would be forced to either get a whole new logic board or decline all repairs even if the issue was just the sleep sensor and the only issue on the logic board was a water sticker going pink. For anyone who doesn't have a spare 1000+ dollars to tackle an issue with a 6-8 dollar part (likely cheaper through Apple's supply chain) independent repair is the only real choice. This tool enables independent repair shops to perform this simple repair as opposed to an extremely difficult repair to try to fix the original lid angle sensor. It also avoids them being forced to return an improperly functioning laptop to the customer if they find an issue with the sleep sensor after doing board repair or god forbid they accidentally damage an 8 dollar part and can't just swap in a new one on the house.
In isolation this tool seems pretty boring, but this sleep sensor issue has been genuinely worrying for the future of independent repair and what apple could do next along with artificially making independent repair seem far inferior to apple authorized repair. Someone creating a tool to solve the issue independently is a great sign that if apple tries to monopolize repair through artificial limitations then people can still find ways to work around them.
Massive disclaimer before this whole paragraph that this person's actions are abhorrent and totally unjustified. Just want to provide some perspective on a single relatively minor point.
Regarding the unmarked uber it's actually more common than you'd think. In some cities uber will send you a little decal you're meant to put in the windshield of your car, but it could easily be missed and some drivers who maybe only drive a couple times a month may choose to not have that on display everywhere they go. Uber actually states that you're only supposed to have it installed while you're active in the app, but I don't think it would last very long if you peeled it off and stored it in your car or on a shelf every time you needed to go to the grocery store let alone if you drive for personal reasons on a daily basis. Personally when I was driving uber with that decal provided I chose to just keep it on my windshield, but there's no enforcement of that policy unless people scanned all your windows before getting in and decided that your license plate matching the app wasn't enough evidence to get in your car.
In the previous city I drove uber (albeit it was only around 80k population) they didn't provide any sort of markings. Plenty of uber drivers had signs, but those light up signs in particular are actually sold by third parties and as a result you need to pay out of pocket to get one. While I did choose to invest in a phone mount which is about the same price, I refused on principle to use my own money to buy signage.
So in short I can assure you that there are plenty of uber drivers in unmarked cars, either due to signage which doesn't meet drivers' needs or a lack of any signage provided by uber.
Unless you're doing that sort of stuff super frequently you could rent one or borrow a friend with one. Should work out cheaper with the gas savings. That or get a station wagon.
The detriment to society came when the standard for text messaging between all phones was updated to support more features and a major manufacturer intentionally didn't update to drive sales. The US used to heavily punish that sort of behaviour, but in this case it took EU Chinese action to reign in a US company.
Samsung, Google, Sony, and a million other manufacturers could have implemented their own messaging system, but instead they chose to facilitate the use of devices however customers want without punishing them based on the personal preferences of their friends. In some circles people may even choose not to communicate with people who don't have iPhones or exclude them from group chats which is bad in just about any way you spin it.
There is some stuff to be learned, but especially with USB-C I'd say the vast majority are not labeled. There's even some devices charged with USB C that can't be charged with a PD charger and need an A to C cable. Phones are a great example where you have to look up the specs to know data transfer capabilities. Additionally they renamed the USB 3.0 standard which has been established for over a decade to USB 3.1 Gen 1 which is completely unnecessary and just serves to confuse. The standard was largely understandable with USB 3.0 generally being blue or at least a color other than black and on decently modern devices USB 2.0 would be black. With USB-C indication has just about gone out the window and what used to be a very simple to understand standard has now become nearly impossible to understand without having researched every device and cable you interact with.

An additional argument I've heard is that economies of scale come into play with power generation. The argument is mainly used around electric vs gas cars when electricity is generated from fossil fuels, but apparently larger plants are generally more efficient at generating energy. This may not hold up when heat is the desired form of energy compared to a gas car where it's a waste product.

Depends on where you are, but with that 30 flight number there's definitely plenty of people that aren't bringing their cars with them.
As someone who's accidentally punctured a large lithium ion battery with 100% charge I can tell you that explode isn't exactly the right word. While I'm sure you could create an enclosure that could explode from the pressure, the battery itself just kinda shoots out a small jet of fire along with some toxic gas.

The things is that time zones are a natural part of the earth. Back when people told time by the position of the sun, people in different places would naturally observe a different time. Should everyone around the globe have somehow established contact and said, hey one day we're all going to be in constant contact, could you change your sundials to read the time where I am instead of where you are? At the end of the day, although time zones and daylight savings time have created some slight variations on this concept, noon/midday was defined by the concept of the sun being directly overhead. Since the origins of time telling are based on the sun, there is no first place where we didn't start with time zones. Unless we somehow advanced as a society to create computers and the Internet without having ever created a system of time.

So much agreeance. I can see how people may be awestruck by recent technology, but crediting it to extraterrestrial life both completely ignores the gradual progression of knowledge which enabled it and disregards the brilliant minds who spent their lives bringing it to fruition.
This is definitely a far greater inconvenience than having your home destroyed and watching your children starve to death. I get how these protests can be frustrating when you're just trying to go about your day, but nobody is getting fired when they can just explain that they got held up by the protest. Sure some people will fail to see the message and simply be upset with the protestors, but when there's an important cause it's impossible to cause change without some disruption.

A pretty simple deep learning approach would be to take a large sample and first identify the individual key sounds. From there it can start associating the most common letters with the most common sounds and switch it around until dictionary words start coming out. Once it can identify individual keys you could even brute force it in a pretty reasonable timeframe. The keyboard layout is the least important part because the individual key sound output is going to vary keyboard by keyboard and even potentially user by user. If you used a password without dictionary words and used a different keyboard layout exclusively for entering the password that would likely defeat this sort of attack.
I mean, you're probably not entirely wrong, but this was a test flight so I'm sure they knew first off that there was increased risk that they may not even survive the journey. This definitely wasn't outside of the wheelhouse of possible outcomes.
To be fair though there wasn't a say then since nobody else actually ran. I'm obviously just one person, but my take is that the DNC pushed Biden too hard and I'd much rather have a younger option since we'll likely end up with the same policy over the next four years as if Biden was elected, but we'll have someone more likely to beat Trump and show that the DNC values public opinion.

One omnivore to another, try making beans this way. Get a regular sized can of beans (I usually use black beans) and drain out the liquid. You can use a colander or just pop open the lid a bit and put it upside down in the sink. Sautee half an onion diced up (or a whole onion if you really like them) in a splash of olive oil. Once it's soft and getting a bit translucent chop up a clove or two of garlic and a chipotle pepper (get a small can of them in adobo sauce). Add them in and stir until you get some fragrance off them. From there add the beans and stir everything together right away until the onion is mixed in (and garlic with, don't want to let the garlic burn). From there you can add in salt, pepper, and cumin. I also like to add oregano and if you're feeling it you can add garlic powder and/or chili powder. From there you add some tomato sauce. For a standard size can I'll usually use half. Basically add it to taste and feel since it tempers the spice and also makes it so the dish isn't dry. From there I stir it all together and let the tomato sauce reduce stirring occasionally until I think it looks done or I'm hungry.
I love me a steak, but combined with some rice cooked with some sazon Goya I can live off these beans.
