I took the plunge about a week ago with Pop!_OS. It took a good 3 or 4 days before I started to feel really comfortable with things. (Which is probably because I'm really picky)

If you have the time to try it out (and remember, always dual boot so you have a fall back and can switch back when you need to) I recommend it. The last remnant remaining for me is Photoshop, and there's a GitHub page for downloading it with very few steps now.

I wish, but what are the end users going to do? Switch?

Apple is expensive, and all Linux users will eventually have to use a command line. Sure, if you're on lemmy you're probably fine with the occasional terminal window, but most older folks aren't, and many in the younger generation aren't familiar with any os that doesn't come on a mobile device.

Power users have an alternative in Linux, but most will just shrug and accept it. Who has time to learn how to use and install a new OS? Ads are everywhere, it's become ewww the norm.

ewww...

Fwiw, it may be arguably easier for you to switch than to have to run a debloater script after every Windows update, at this point.

Yeah, I mean, yeah. Sounds about right, yeah.

What?

Web results only? As compared to what? AI results? What's in the first tab? You're... searching the web for results. What else would be in the first tab??

Edit: I haven't used Google in a while. I just searched "who is Dr dre" on mobile. That's a lot of boxes. Wikipedia box, albums box, songs box, people also search for box, videos box, you really gotta scroll down before you get to the results. Google doesn't really link you to the answer anymore, it just answers you. Wow.

Good guy Mozilla.

Anyone play this game? The video on steam doesn't really give me an idea of how to play, it just shows a poker hand and the player clicks on a bunch of jokers?

Notification LED.

Dang that sounds so good I can hear it in the image.

Yeah this is what I thought as well. Never heard of "The Enigma of Amigara Fault." GUESS I SHOULD START READING.

do NOT miss your CHANCE to BLOW

Probably difficult difficult limes difficult. Like rebuilding a wood frame house into a concrete block house.

You can reuse parts (doors, windows, etc) but not everything comes apart easily, and it's still a lot of work reassembling things. Even the parts you should be able to reuse, you may end up replacing since they don't "disassemble" easily.

Punk never died.

A few things you could probably get for $1, but would be better if bought in bulk:

A permanent marker, a package of labels. Combined, you can reuse your Amazon boxes as storage boxes. Labels aren't necessary, but black text on a white background is easier to read from a distance.

Box cutter knife/utility knife. Can be used to cut holes in Amazon boxes for pets to play in. Or, simply keep them but the front door so you can open packages right away.

Hook-and-loop (Velcro) ties for wires. Can be used to tidy up the wires behind your desk, or for charging cables when traveling.

Dish soap (without degreaser)/baby shampoo. Aside from their original purposes, these can both be used to clean glass before applying a permanent tint (or just to clean glass normally) or to wash your car (degreasers can wear away at your clear coat over time.) Both can be found at the dollar store.

Colgate regular toothpaste. (If you don't have tooth sensitivity) You don't need colgate total. You should still use an electric toothbrush. You should not use the cheap off-brand toothpaste. You should also floss.

Jellyfin/Subsonic/Plex Server If you have a digital library (movies, shows, music) and an old computer/laptop/raspberry pi, you can put one of these three programs on it and host your own, personal, Netflix/Spotify for free with no ads. You only need to pay for electricity. You need to learn a bit to set it all up, but once it's done it's very set-and-forget. You'll also need to buy or find your new media online (or rip it from a disk), which can be a big change for some.

Something else that has a low barrier to entry: origami. Learn how to make a square from any sheet of paper, then learn how to make the traditional paper crane. All you need is any piece of paper and scissors (to cut it into a square). If you enjoy making the crane, there's an endless amount of models to fold. The craft has exponentially taken off in the last few decades, just do a little searching.

When you rent a hotel room or car you're preventing others from using that hotel room or car.

Denuvo phones home constantly. Unless denuvo is removed from the game, the game won't be playable unless it was legitimately purchased and can be verified on denuvo's servers.

Furthermore denuvo encrypts the game files and the denuvo files and scrambles them all together, like mixing two jars of sand from different beaches, but the denuvo sand pieces know where everything is, so the game and copy protections still work.

So it's hard to remove.

It's what you use to turn the lights on and off.

After super monkey ball 2, the aesthetic of the game started to... not appeal to me. It got all pastelly and rainbowy.

This is a little bit of a step back, and I dig it a little more.

Nah, you right tho

I hate that I like this so much.

I bet in ublock origin you can just click the "block JavaScript" button and refresh the page. That works for a lot of things like this.

I would marry the non-binary who did this for me in a fuckin heartbeat

I'm interested in hearing others opinions about it myself. I haven't taken the plunge yet.

Immich seems cool! Its website warms it's under active development, what do you think of it? What do you think of it compared to other gphotos alternatives?

Knock knock, open up the door, it's real

All characters have that. Hit tab to open team view, and on the upper right of each characters window there's a little checkbox to toggle it on and off. Camp armor and regular armor.

Thank you! I wish it were more obvious what random strings of characters meant. Sometimes I see them and I have to hunt around in community rules and mega threads and I still can't find a solution as to how to decode them.

Unfortunately I use Photoshop pretty heavily. I'm trying to split my different use-cases of Photoshop into different applications.

I tried Krita, and was immediately put off by how you have to input text in a different window, and can't see it live. GIMP's UI feels so different.

I'll add rawtherapee and darktable to my list to try, and I'm still giving Krita and gimp a chance. You can't expect to just slide right into a new program in a day after spending a decade in something else.

Thank you for the detailed response! You gave me a good understanding of how the game feels.

Thank you for the detailed response!

Thank you for putting descriptions

Yeah but the VM takes time to "boot" up and the folder structure isn't as clean, right?

S mode?? Man that feels like using a PC with a child lock turned on.

Awesome! This might be the best modern way to experience Virtual Boy games!
