Google Tasks is effectively unavoidable if you use Google products.

I had no idea it existed...

They've done the cosmic horror joke many times. I found it funny in my 20s.

Gabe's art has gradually deformed and is just horrible now.

it's not the background radiation that worries people, it's the risk of a Fukushima-type incident.

This ignores subjectivity. What is a 7/10 for most gamers could easily be a 10/10 for a specific type of gamer. Rather than focusing on review scores people should focus on the niche of games that they really enjoy.

I thought they restored all the edited comments? Maybe I'll give it a go then.

I learned how to do it purely to get free food at a restaurant. The idiot proof method takes about a day to learn and a bit longer to do reliably. Recommended!

Since I was a kid I've always run up and down flights of stairs and continue to this day. It is fun, it's a workout and I find walking far too slow.

I agree, it's who you date. I have dated women in their 30s and 40s who play games. One really wanted to play Beat Saber in VR. One plays Spiderman on the PS4. Even if they say "I don't play games" on the first date, they might be hiding a Switch under their pillow...

If you keep trying to use GUI to do what you want you're gonna have a bad time. The majority of Linux users doing power stuff like this will use the terminal. Because of that, the GUI is unfortunately underdeveloped.

It's good once you learn it though. Let's say that tool never existed. I could easily write a bash script to compress images in cbr or cbz myself. Or autoconvert all cbr files to cbz. Or watch my downloads directory for new files and do that automatically. It's very flexible and empowering if you learn it. Nobody can make a GUI for every single thing people want a script for.

At this stage it is only virtue signalling - the signal is that the larger lemmy community has no interest in interacting or co-operating with Facebook or other large anti-privacy organisations. It's that simple. You can always join a different server with different values, nobody has taken choice away from you.

I'm 50 hours in, choose my character order and still getting like 500k. What's your secret?

I am on Manjaro. To be honest there isn't a big difference between distros nowadays because more and more apps are on the web or deployed via AppImage/shell script. Manjaro does rolling updates, makes it easy to install drivers and the install is easy, but you can still follow the Arch wiki and use AUR.

It runs Steam totally fine. Thanks to Steam (and WINE) I basically don't use Windows anymore.

All of those examples seem less about gaming and more about the guy being an asshole. You could replace gaming with any other hobby or activity. Gaming just happens to be a very common hobby.

I went from several hours a day to zero after the blackout, morally I just don't want to support them anymore. I still add 'reddit' to google searches sometimes and look at those, but no more mindless scrolling of the front page.

It was too expensive for me so I bought an "open box, as new condition" one for $1,100 (£850). It was a risk but it really has been as new condition and I'm super happy with it. It has been a life changer because everything is easier with a larger screen (particularly the keyboard!) and having one device is so much more convenient than syncing and carrying two.

A lot of the cheaper used models have marks on the outside of the phone, but if you're using a case then it's a non-issue because the case covers them up. As long as the screens are fine.

Once the Fold 5 comes out in a few weeks even a new Fold 4 will hopefully be cheaper.

The ryzen thinkpads (T14s in my case) deliver graphics good enough for most indie games and older games. Combined with a switch I haven't felt the need for anything else.

I would not be too hard on yourself. Like you said long distance is extremely hard and kills relationships, even long term ones, let alone a young one like yours. It takes work - video calls, presents, routine conversation - and that comes from a commitment that you two hadn't established yet. Or perhaps he was never willing to provide.

It is scary how quickly feelings can change, but I put that down again to how little you guys had known each other. I also had a 3 month relationship that was amazing, and we went LDR and it was like I couldn't even remember their face or their voice after a while. If you had known him for say a year, it would have been a lot different.

I have a small shoulder bag but feel the same. In UK weather having a thin rolled up coat is indispensible, a water bottle, wet wipes, headphones, mobile battery, lozenges, basic medication, bottle opener etc. Comes in handy. Men have pockets sure but there's only so much you can stuff in there.

The only problem is when it gets cold enough that I might need a pullover but might not. A bigger bag might be useful.

There are so many factors. It could be an objectively good game that you just don't like. No big deal, there are lots of 6 or 7/10 games that I absolutely love too. Or it could be you're burned out on games or not in the mood for that particular thing, and you can come back to it.

TOTK for me was the latter, I am just not in the mood for a huge open ended game right now. Skyrim was the former, I never got into it. Dunno how old you are, but over time you get a feel for whether you're going to like something and learn to trust the review scores less and less.

I hear you on depression and anhedonia. It sucks. I wish I had an answer for that.

It's hard but the levels are one screen long and you restart instantly on death (or after pressing a button). So you don't have to replay lots of stuff and you don't lose any progress. I don't like Dark Souls but I loved Celeste.

I disagree that there are not enough people here. Beehaw is busy enough for act as a reddit replacement imo. The federation setup is complex, but given how many bugs and technical issues it has right now, it's probably for the best - only people with patience and a lot of interest in Lemmy should be joining right now.

which is exactly what’s happening when an NT prefers the company of a member of a hate group above the company of someone with an autism diagnosis.

What do you suggest though? We can't force NTs to spend time with autistic people, and it wouldn't be constructive.

I loved Heaven's Vault, it hit all the things I love: detective/mystery novel, rich dialogue trees, languages. The only problem is when it's over there aren't any other games like it.

My Sony WH1000-XM3s started turning themselves off after a few years. Their noise cancelling is probably better than others but I can't say they've been reliable.

TIL. That's a good point. 20k deaths due to the earthquake but only 1 due to the power plant itself.

I don't understand how it's not a classic. The music and art is amazing, the story and characters are charming, the battle system is fun, it's full of side quests and places to explore. Maybe it's because the dungeons are literally 2 hours of non-stop puzzles (they went a bit hard on the puzzles), but if you can get past that, it's definitely worth your time!

I just wish they wouldn't re-use the same area in every game. Tried to play Lost Judgement but I think I'm burned out on Kamurocho for the next 5 years or so.

A noise generator (LectroFan). I live in a noisy area (Friday/Saturday nights) and the machine completely blocks out all sound. It is more comfortable for me than wearing earplugs or headphones.

Similarly noise-cancelling headphones made a HUGE difference to my life but they're a bit more than $100. Still recommended for anyone thinking about it.
