Fuck Microsoft

I feel a law that would go a long way would be to force companies to release code, drivers, and designs of any product they no longer support. That includes Intellectual Property. If you no longer support a product, then you don't need the IP used on it.

We either get everything we need to use EOL products however we want, or companies support products much longer to protect their IP.

My wants:

  • ROM-friendly w/ active development
  • flagship specs
  • No hole-punch

Seems I can get two of three, but not all three with the latest phones.

EDIT: I currently rock a Oneplus 7 Pro running crDroid 9 (Android 13).

How is this worthy of an article? I feel like I wasted my life reading this.

I feel like we've had several posts like this lately.

Trump's fines are from his Civil cases. SBF had Criminal charges.

"Guilty" in the title made it seem like there was some kind of legal repercussion.

Instead it was just a story about an everyday occurrence of IT dealing with idiots.

We already have NSFL

I'm positive this is AI generated. I can't believe 9 to 5 Google fell for this.

The 'bump' has a shadow in the two straight-on photos, but the side view shows no height.

The hands holding the phone give it away, too. The fingertips look softened from a filter and don't have any sign of fingerprint ridges while the palm is much more detailed.

They also look too sharp in contrast to the background.

EDIT: The more I look the more I'm convinced. The side photo and the angled photo are completely different in size relative to the hand. The thickness of the palm is much too large, as well.

Try Molly.

From a practical sense, they don't. The IDF has a history of protecting violent settlers who attack Palestinians and will attack those Palestinians if they try to defend themselves.

The US would absolutely not send defensive weapons to Palestinians. The US government is too close to the Israeli government.

Even at this moment the US says they don't approve of how Israel is waging this war, while they're using weapons the US sent them...

The hardware of Sony phones has been so attractive over the years. I had the Z3 & XZ1 years ago and they were great.

However, the software is lacking. They don't commit to long term OS/security updates.

The price is also far too high for just a slab.

This means that there are no ROMs that support recent flagship Sony devices.

Honestly they don't have to lower the price. If they just opened up the software I would make the jump.

I'm holding onto the OnePlus 7 Pro for dear life because newer devices feel like such a compromise; great hardware and software is locked down to hinder ROM development or great ROM support and weak hardware.

So well done! I love this music video.

If you're only problem with your current phone is the battery, maybe look into replacing the battery.

Either DIY or bring it to a reputable repair shop.

I just replaced the battery of my OnePlus 7 Pro (and a backup OnePlus 7 Pro also) myself. Was a lot easier than I thought and now the battery life is great again.

The SD865 in it is more than capable to tackle anything I do (no heavy gaming or other resource heavy tasks) so instead of spending $800+ on a new phone I spent $25 on a battery.

I'm also running a custom ROM (crDroid) so I don't have FOMO on the latest software.

I'm really liking the pace of patch releases. The game was pretty solid on release already, and these are minor tweaks and smaller bugs being taken care of.

Just really nice to see instead of the constant push of releasing games long before they should, and having paying customers deal with massive bugs that show the game wasn't ready for release.

I love Sony phones but I don't see active ROMs for the Xperia 1 or 5 series.

I'm not familiar with Xiaomi. They have a flagship without a hole punch?

Works on Eternity

Am I missing something? In the US I can't buy the 1V and get the bootloader unlocked by Sony. Or did that change?

The only one I have is Netflix and that is only because it comes with my cell service for like $3/mo extra.

Saber doesn't have S-pen support but you can save notes where you want (can even sync to Nextcloud).

I've been looking for this solution as well.

I don't know about all banking apps, but the Bank of America app works just fine.

TLDW?

Right, but Sony doesn't unlock their bootloader (on US devices) anymore.

  • AppImageLauncher
  • Freetube
  • Ondsel
  • Nextcloud

The S-pen "works" with it but the button on the pen doesn't work with the app. Hence it's not 'supported.'

You can't hold the button for erase.

Test Recieved

Just an iteration. They'll be there in no time.

Google and Nothing phones have punch holes.

I'm not familiar with Motorola's lineup. What phone do they have without a punch hole?

No Armored Core Fires of Rubicon?

This isn't a 'From Software' List, it's a 'Souls Games' List.

I actually found it two days ago. Seems to work really well. Thanks!

Honestly I love their hardware design. I think it's the best out.

But I love custom ROMs more.

If they simply opened up their devices I wouldn't care about how many official OS updates they offer, because I would be using a ROM that would keep constantly updating.

Although currently there's very little interest in ROM development for Sony phones. Kinda like the chicken or the egg.

Really just want flagship hardware with custom ROMs.

My OnePlus 7 Pro is still going strong, for now.

I loved the notification LED on my Xperia XZ1, Nexus 5X, and basically all older Android phones.

Ideally I'd like to see an LED along a corner so that regardless of placing the phone face up or down, you can still see the LED.

If this has all the US bands I'd be all over it.

Not the prettiest, but it doesn't have a hole punch and no camera bumps.

The RGB could go, too. Maybe that can be turned off?

"Only"? the last two releases doesn't bode well for the next release. And the whole point would be to have flagship specs and custom ROMs. Releases older than two years don't have flagship specs anymore.

In order to use PIA in the Wireguard app, don't I have to select

OpenVPN (deprecated)

in the dropdown for VPN? I'm trying to avoid something that will be removed in the near future. Or am I reading that wrong?

Onsdel is a fork of FreeCAD with UI improvements. Much better in my opinion. They actively contribute back to FreeCAD as well.

I've had the Oneplus 7 Pro since it came out, which is a rebranded Xiaomi 9T Pro.

Ah that makes sense. I plan to run this thing 24/7

Kirin chips are getting better but I won't consider devices with them until they start releasing what we need to make custom ROMs more easily.
